Chapter 9

Chapter 9. FBI special agent Jones was a average size black male dressed in a very expensive dark suit, Agent Jones had worked for the bureau for the last 22 years of his life and had a very professional demeanor about himself and his work. Jones could go as far to say that working for the FBI was his life. The bureau had taken priority over every aspect of his life including being a husband and father. Jones marriage had fell apart many years ago and even his own children had disowned him long ago. Jones had wrote it off as the price of being good at his job. Agent Jones pulled into the abortion clinic parking lot in Trenton New Jersey to find police chief David Hovis a short and very thin looking man was waiting for him. Jones got the call late last night and was told by his superiors to only assist in the murder investigation. Assisting had never been one of Jones strong suits so he decided on being his normal take charge self because that would get the best results and he had no problems with the local Yahoos getting all the credit if it would avoid a pissing contest. “is everything as I requested” ask Jones looking at the incredible thin police chief. Chief Hovis replies by simply nodding his head that made Jones wonder at first if he was dealing with a simpleton. “get me up to speed on the first murder for now” said Jones as he slowly walks to the trunk of his car. Jones quickly change his mind about Hovis as the Chief of Police follows Jones telling him in great detail about the two victims at the first crime scene also included a play by play of the forensic report. Hovis even explained the religious meanings of the one body that was posed and displayed on a statue. Jones pulls out a metal brief case as Hovis explains who the two victims were and gave a theory of why the killer pick them two victim’s. Jones felt very impressed with all the information the police chief was able to give him in a short amount of time. Jones half expected an regurgitate of what he heard on the radio during his long drive here from the New York field office. “Where’s the lab tech that I wanted” ask Agent Jones when they get to the front door of the clinic. “your looking at him” said Chief Hovis then he go’s on to explain that when he originally join the police force it was as a forensic expert, then later on in his career he decided to switch to becoming a Detective that eventually lead to him also becoming the chief of the police department. Agent Jones was very impressed with the chief’s story. Hovis reminded Jones of the bureau’s own golden boy Agent Edwin Storm. Agent Storm was currently in a small town in upstate New York working a Multiple homicide case. Jones right away notices the security cameras as soon as they entered the building. “you check the footage from these cameras yet” ask Jones pointing out the cameras in the corners of the lobby. “yes, but it seems our killer was wearing some kind of jammer device” said Hovis. Jones knew that a jammer was a electronic device that was capable of jamming a video and audio signals, Jammer’s were rare outside of spy movies or black ops government agencies like the CIA. Jones felt it was very unlikely that a serial murderer could afford or operate such a piece of equipment. Hovis moves over to a computer at the front desk and immediately brings up the video footage from last night. Jones watched as it seem the cameras would mysteriously black out just before the killer entered the front doors. “any cameras in the lab where our killer killed the victim” ask Jones studying the security monitors. “it’s illegal to film in the labs without the patients consent” said Chief Hovis and he goes on to explain. “these cameras are maintain and updated on a regularly basis” They move directly to the doctor’s body after enter the lab. Jones begin making mental notes of the crime scene immediately, He realized that the killer had brought his own zip ties to restrain his victim to a surgical table. Agent Jones noticed that the surgical table was a stainless steel and covered with bloody prints all over and the rolling cart next to the table was lined with blood covered surgical tools. “our killer obviously knew his way around medical tools” stated police chief Hovis noticing Jones studying the cart. Jones found himself agreed with Hovis on his assessment and this seem like a good time to test the police chief knowledge to get an idea of his detective skills. “why would you think that?” ask Jones. Chief Hovis moves closer to the body on the surgical table and points out the perfection of the cuts and suggested that the killer could be a doctor of some kind because he seems to know his way around medical tools. “did I pass your test agent Jones” ask Hovis. “your right that our killer is or was a doctor of some type” said Agent Jones as he now opens the metal case. “but he seems very new to the whole serial killing thing” Jones takes out a object from the metal case that looked to be a large flashlight. “could you turn off the lights in the room please” ask Jones as he turns on the object. Jones explains that the flashlight object was actually a black light. Jones verbally points out that the killer had touched just about every tool on the cart along with other things in the room. Jones noted that It was obvious that the killer didn’t wear any type of glove but it seem that dumb lucky fell into the killer’s favor because all the finger prints were smeared so badly that they couldn’t make any kind of ID off of them. The channel 13 news were calling him the God’s will killer and the other News networks seem to picked up on it like a wildfire out of control, Jones couldn’t help to wonder with the cameras not working properly and the smeared prints. Maybe the big man upstairs was looking out for this new Punisher of the wicked.
