Chapter 21 Cory managed to get away from the parking garage before the polices showed up, she carefully sneaked her way through the dark streets till making it to the old church from her dream of killing the MS-13 gang member named Ryan. Mostly she hid in the shadows because she knew anyone spotting a teenage girl all covered in blood would immediately call the police. There at the church Cory found herself a warm shower and a fresh change of clothes from a box labeled as clothing drive. Cory’s heartbreak over Timmy didn’t stop her from being hungry and she felt a little lucky that she happened to found a bowl of tuna casserole and a half bottle of water inside the church refrigerator. Cory sit in the back row of the old church eating her meal quietly and fighting off the urge to cry her eyes out till finally she realized that Jason Grey was sitting beside her on the bench. “nice dress” said Jason Grey staring over at the skimpy white sundress that Cory found in the clothe box with different color flowers all over it. Cory found herself snuggling up against Jason Grey’s chest and she let’s the tears roll down her face. “it’s ok” said Jason Grey as he wraps his arms around the heartbroken Cory and tries to comfort her. “we all have at least one low moment in our lives” “what’s your lowest moment” ask Cory looks up at Jason Grey with wet eyes wondering if this monster had ever been sad. “the day my mother died” said Jason Grey. Cory could feel a overwhelming sadness come over Jason Grey and suddenly him memories of the moment come flooring in almost as if Jason Grey wanted her to witness it. Jason Grey’s mother uses to tell both him and his brother Roy this story that she called the Hellfire Heart and she uses to promise Jason that one day he would inherit it. One day out of jealousy Roy Grey killed there mother with the hopes of steeling the inheritance. “what’s the Hellfire Heart and who inherited it” ask Cory not finding any other memories on the subject. “that’s a story for another time” said a very guarded Jason Grey. “if I ask you something else would you answer me truthfully” ask Cory who remained cuddled in Jason’s arms. “of course” replied Jason Grey pressing the side of his face gently against Cory’s hair. “did you kill that MS-13 gang member named Ryan that was at the movie theater the other night” ask Cory wondering if Jason Grey was willing to be honest with her. Immediately Jason Grey answered with a yes and continue to explain that he was able to take possession of her that night after she when to sleep. He furthermore expressed that he wasn’t sure if he was a ghost or some kind of spirit but as a supernatural being it come with certain powers. Jason Grey explained that he learned a lot about his new found powers the night he killed the gang member called Ryan like that he could become invincible in darkness and shadowy places. He could also teleport himself small distances as long as he could visible see the area he wanted to teleport to. “I can’t believe your telling me all this” said Cory finding herself in disbelieve. “that the thing” said Jason Grey. He expressed to Cory that she had to lie to Timmy and Aunt Meg on a number of occasions to protect herself but she never had to lie to him because he accepted her for the killer she is. Jason could immediately tell that his last remark of calling her a killer had rubbed the blonde teenage girl emotionally the wrong way so he quickly changed the subject back to there new powers and he brings up how he never really considered telekinesis as one of there supernatural abilities till Cory used her mind to mentally throw the good pastor off the third floor of the parking garage and how quickly she even managed to catching him like a baseball before he got splattered on the black top asphalt. Cory would never openly admit it but Jason was slowly winning her over and he even managed to made her laugh by calling her his slutty little yoda.
