Chapter Fifteen

She must have gotten far because I can not sense her anymore. The temperature was starting to drop. The first snowflakes of the winter started to fall. She must have dematerialized home being that I can not sense her anymore. I materialized back to my motorcycle to head to the mansion. I needed to hurry before the snow made it hard to drive.

He looked for Annabelle when he got to the mansion. Not wanting to alert her father to the fact they did not come back together. He walked past his study and glad he was too busy with paperwork to even look up to who passed his doorway. He wanted to waste no time getting to her room, taking two steps at a time as he ascended the stairs.

It’s a reckless idea to run off into the woods alone. How can he be mad at me? That had happened before I started seeing him and how in the hell I was supposed to know they were brothers?! She ghosts through the thick woods trying to lose him. Once she could sense his presence far enough away, she slowed to catch her breath. What am I doing?

Watch me run into a fucking bobcat or something as unpleasant up here. I needed to calm myself so that I am able to concentrate and dematerialize off the mountain. It’s the hardest when I am feeling emotional. I still can hardly wrap my head around what happened. Why couldn’t he have done this before we left my house or canceled the date altogether? Why bring me here to do this.

I heard something rustling behind me in the shadows. I got ready to fight a bobcat or bear when Damian stepped out of the cloak of shadows.

“What are you doing up here?”

I let out a breath I did not realize I was holding.

“I got in a fight with my boyfriend.”

“And so you decided to run into the mountains alone?”

“I know, that was stupid but I could not stand to be near him anymore.”

“Why not dematerialize home?”

“I have a hard time doing that when I am emotional.”

I turned my eyes toward my feet. I shouldn’t have put myself in this embarrassing vulnerable position. Once I managed to bring myself to look back up at him. I noticed he had his huge angelic wings out and no shirt. Tucked into his back pocket, I am guessing since the shirt is not in his hands.

“Let’s get you home.”

“I don’t want to go home, Abel will be there waiting.”

“Want to come to my house then?”

“Sure, thank you.” I smiled.

He must be freezing but I do not see him shivering.

I’m sure him not being an ice cube right now, is because he is part demon. He started towards me and I have this overwhelming urge to step back away from him. He gave off a deadly not even realizing he’s doing it. His eyes as black as night and his teeth sharp as daggers, he turned into his true demonic form to take me into the sky with him. You think that be frightening to see but it had the opposite effect on me.

I am glad he is comfortable enough to show me his true self. He swooped me up into his arms and I put mine up around his neck and then he took off into the night sky. I guess he felt me shivering in his arms because he took us to a hot spring and set me on my feet. He took off his pants, left his boxers on and got in the warm water. It did look nice and I could see the steam. What the hell I thought, get in your freezing and that looks so nice.

When I started undressing, he looked over at the water to try to give me privacy, what a gentleman. I stripped to my bra and panties and stepped into the spring.

“Ah, it’s so nice.”

“I could feel you shivering and remembered this spot, I wanted to get you warm.” He smiled.

“Thank you, I am nice and warm now,” I said leaning back into the rocks.

The stars lit up the night sky, reflecting off the water, it was such a romantic place.

How many girls has he brought here? She looked over at him and smiled. She did not even know him and got jealous with the idea of him with anyone else.

“Will you be okay if I go to my house for towels?”

“Yeah, I will be fine.”

“I live close by, I will be right back.”

He said getting out of the water. She watched as he put his pants and shoes back on in a rush and took back off into the sky, he was such a beautiful creature.

She envied his wings Annabelle wished she had the ability to take off into the sky looking back at the world and get a whole other perspective. She kept replaying the fight with Abel.

With Damian gone I noticed how dark and quiet it was now. I heard a rustling in the distance. I looked toward the sound. Abel came out of the darkness.

“What the fuck are you doing, Annabelle?”

“Why do you care?”

“I fucking care, why else would I still be up here in the mountains looking for you?”

“You left.”

“I did, I went back to your house and when I found out you were not there, I had to tell your father I lost you. He gave me a drop of your blood to drink to track you.”

“You always will know where I am?”

“It is better this way.”

“For you, maybe.”

“Who is this guy?”

Annabelle pleased to hear the jealousy in his voice.

“I ran into a guy I met the other night at the club, I was too upset to dematerialize home, he is a friend.”

“What is he doing up here?”

“He is a Sitri, the best time for them to be in the sky unnoticed by humans.”

“Let’s go, Sitri’s are dangerous.”

“No, he is not dangerous.”

“You don’t know Sitri’s.

“I am talking to you as your royal guard and not your boyfriend, Let’s go.”

Abel was gathering her things together. Trying to get her out of the hot springs when Damian landed on the ground in front of them.

“What is going on, are you leaving?”

“This is Abel, my boyfriend, he wants me to go with him.”

Damian walked closer to Abel, with a menacing smile and leaned closer closing the distance between them. “Why?”

He furrowed his brows. “You know why, demon.”

“She does not have to leave.”

She stepped between them, “I decide what I want to do, Got it?”

She looked between the both of them.

Damian backed off to give her space, which earned him a point.

“I am staying here with Damian, I am too upset with you right now. I’ll see you later back at the mansion.”

Abel growled deep in his throat, “Fine.” He spat and then dematerialized.

Things got quiet after Abel left, I guess Damian didn’t know what to say

" Let’s get back in the spring."

“Sure.” He nodded.

“I brought you a towel, and I laid it over there on that rock for when you are ready to get out.”

“Okay, thank you.”

“No problem.” He smiled.

“You still staying here with me?”

He waded over to the other side. “He was being a jerk and is mad at me for something I did before we even started dating.”

“What did you do?”

“I don’t want to talk about it.”

"Okay, No problem."

He made his way over to me. My heart started raising, I was trying to keep my breathing steady so he can’t know the effect he had on me. I am attracted to him but I am with Abel and can not go there, even if we are having problems in our relationship. I could not stop thinking of his lips on mine.

I had to swallow the lump forming in the back of my throat and he noticed it.

“What are you thinking?” He smirked.

“Oh, nothing, how nice this water feels.” I looked away.

“Let’s go back to my house.”

“Okay.”

We both got out of the hot spring and grabbed our towels to dry. He wrapped his towel around his waist and came up and put his arms around me pulling me into his chest.

“Ready?”

“Yes.”

We took off into the night sky towards his house.

The next night Annabelle needed time to herself, she wanted to get away from the mansion and everyone in it. To free the darkness from her head. She is so stressed about things with Abel and now Damian is in the mix too. Had such a good time with him the other night. She loves sitting on the beach watching the waves crash into the shore over and over again. The ocean reminded her this was a small piece of her life. She put on a black bikini with a matching crochet dress and sandals.

She walked to her closet and took a beach bag out. Transferred the contents of her purse into it and threw in a beach towel. Once ready she went out to her balcony, closed her eyes and concentrated on the place she wanted to be. Opening her eyes when she could hear the ocean waves hitting the shore in front of her. She sat in the sand with her eyes closed, breathing in and out, trying to relax and clear her mind. After laying on the beach for hours not knowing what to do and still feeling stressed, she dematerialized back home to her room. The first thing she noticed was Abel sitting in the dark on her bed staring back at her.

“Hey.” She said

“Where have you been?”

“I went to the beach.”

“Oh.”

He looked over at her beach bags, sandy clothes and shoes.

“Well, we need to talk.”

“I know.”

I put my beach stuff down and sat next to him on the bed.

“I am sorry I got so mad.”

“It’s understandable.”

“It happened before we saw each other, I can’t be mad at you.”

“I would be upset too, I’m sorry.”

“Me too.”

He reached over, grabbed my hand and pulled me into a hug.
