We drove back to Edward’s subdivision. He was a very good driver. Although at one in the morning, there was no one out on the streets. I do not think even I would have trouble driving at that time. There were now lights on in any house. The only lights came from the street lights, that were battling, and winning the battle against the light of the stars.
We turned off the lights to the truck so we did not disturb the people sleeping. It was Edwards idea. I would have never had thought of that. We parked the truck, where we found it. We got out, and closed the door quietly. Edward held a finger to his mouth, and run swiftly, and quietly across the street, and into his yard. I was behind, trying to keep up, and not lose everything that was in my stomach.
We made our way to the window, which is still how we left it. Edward opened the window silently with ease, and climbed in. I was next. I climbed in, and knocked a few things over, but did not disturb anyone from their slumber. Thank goodness. Edward shut the window exactly as he opened it.
Once inside, he turned on the tv for light. He jumped a little, and cursed, as he turned the volume down. He pulled out a bed from underneath his bed, which took up most of the room.
He took shirt and pants, off, and I just took my pants off, and climbed into the bed, after plugging my phone up. I took the spot on the bed closest to the wall, and wrapped up under the covers.
"You want some water?" Edward whispered.
"No, I’m good." I whispered back. I was not to keen on drinking anything, not even water. My stomach was easing up, and did not want to disrupt the natural flow of my bodies way of dealing with this.
Edward left his room, and came back with a bottle of water, and drank it all. He almost drank the whole bottle in one go. Once he finished, he got under the blanket he had gotten from his closet. I closed my eyes, and fell asleep almost instantly. Alcohol sure does put the mind at ease, and makes you really relaxed, and sleepy.
I woke up at ten in the morning, and got up, and put my pants that I had in my bag. I packed up my clothes. I separated them into the clothes would put on after my shower. I put my toiletries, and my book, as a divider, between the clean and dirty.
I walked out of Edward’s room quietly because Edward was still sleeping. He must have drank more than I did. Ten was the most I had ever slept in.
I went into the kitchen, where Edwards mom was drinking coffee, and eating a bagel, and reading People Magazine.
"Morning." She said with a bright smile on her face.
"Morning. " I said back, just standing there.
"Want something to eat."
"Yes, please." I said standing there leaning against the counter. She chuckled like a mother, and got up.
What do you want?" She opened the fridge "We have bacon, sausage, eggs. There are bagels. We have cream cheese and jelly. "
" A bagel would be nice. "
"There over there, sweetie." She pointed to the bag of bagels, next to the toaster.
I opened the bag of bagels, and tried to tear the bagel into equal two halves. It did not work, but I popped the bagel into the toaster.
"You want some cream cheese, or Jelly? " She said, and put both of them on the counter, and returned to eating her bagel, and reading her magazine.
The bagel popped up, and I spread some cream cheese on it, after looking through all the drawers, trying to find a knife. I put the cream cheese and jelly back into the fridge. I sat down on the opposite side of the light brown table from Edward’s mom. I ate my bagel, and stared out the window. I got up, and got a bottle of water from the fridge, and sat back down, and ate and drank my water in silence. It was nice and sunny out today.
I finished and put my plate in the sink, and grabbed my water bottle, and went into the living room. I sat on the couch, and watched some tv. Edward’s little brother was up, and he was watching some military show. They were shooting some kind of gun. I saw a magazine of homes. I opened it up, and flipped through it.
I put the magazine down, and decided to take a shower. I do not think I could take anymore of the brutish brashness of the military show. I went into Edward’s room, and grabbed my bag. I looked at my phone. I had a few messages. I had one from my mother.
-Good morning, sweetie. Hope you slept well. Tell me when you are ready to come home.-
There were a few messages from Emily.
-Good morning my love. Have a good time last night. hope you did. -
She sent a bunch of emojis, then a third message.
-I wish would have a great time. - She sent a winking face with that message. I rolled my eyes, and laid my phone on the dresser. Edward moved and groaned.
"Morning." He said in a sleepy voice. He looked like he was having a good dream.
"Morning. " I said back. "I’m going to go take a shower. "
"Okay. " He rolled over, and continued sleeping.
I went into the bathroom, and locked the door. I set my bag down, and turned on the water. I stripped, and peed before getting into the shower. I do not know if the peed in the shower, so I did not do it their shower. I grabbed my shampoo and soap, I stepped into the shower, I let the water run over me. I washed, and let the water rinse the stench of last’s night’s ’good time. ‘I got out, and dried off, and got dressed. I came out of the steamy bathroom, and set my bag down on the floor by the couch, and sat down. I turned it onto the food network channel, and watched cupcake wars. I got to thinking about last night, and shook my head, and laid down on the couch, and focused on the battle between a gothic cupcake design, and a sweetheart cupcake design.
Edward’s Dad walked in carrying boxes of doughnuts.
“Come get you a doughnut, Jeong.” He said, and sat a box down on the coffee table.
“Thanks.” I said, and sat up, and grabbed a chocolate doughnut. There was nothing that I doughnut could not fix in this crazy messed up life. I ate three doughnuts that morning. I texted my mother around two in the afternoon, and we all had lunch. There was eight of us all together at a small burger joint that was not fast food, and off the beaten path.
I went home, and took my pants off. I curled up on the couch, and began reading my book.
