We dropped Katie at her house around midnight, and we walked up to Alexander’s dorm. I got out of my shirt, and pants, and slept on the air mattress all night, but I did kick the covers off of me. I don’t know what it is about me and covers. I end up kicking them off of me, and then waking up, and covering myself up again, just to repeat the cycle every night.
I woke up again at 6 am. I got a cup of coffee, and put my brothers ear buds in, and listened to my music. I listened to mainly Kpop. I tried, and failed to sing Hyuna’s "How this," in a very quiet voice.
I tried to sing to "clap" by Seventeen. I even tried to dance a bit. I closed my eyes, and pretended I was in front of my classmates, and I had the courage to actually do something like this. Then I lost my balance and fell, creating a a booming thud sound that woke my brother up, and his roommate.
"Xiao, you okay? " My brother said in a sleepy voice. He squinted, and rubbed his eyes.
"Yeah, I’m good. " I giggled, and looked at him, and put two fingers to my face, surrounding my eye, and sticking my tongue out.
"Is the Keurig warmed up?" My brother sat up, and looked around, and moved some clothes under the bed, pushing them with his feet.
"yeah, it should be." I said, and took out my brother’s earbuds from my ears, and phone. I laid the earphones down, and put my phone in my bag. I sat Indian style on the air mattress and looked at all the photos, and posters my brother had on his wall. He had me, and Tai, and mother, and his friends from high school, and some pictures of some new people, who I would think would be his friends here at University. He had a few Chinese artworks on his wall. I could read it, but it was gorgeous in its simplicity.
My brother got up, and fiddled with the Keurig machine for a minute, and then pushed the button to start the brewing process.
"Jeong, little brother?" Alexander sat down with his coffee, and sipped it loudly, and made the loudest satisfaction sound, like he did when we were younger, and would drink coffee in the morning before taking us to school, to get us into a good mood. I giggled, and sat next to him, and we drank our coffee together.
"Yeah. " I sipped, and looked at him.
"You’re very precious to me, and I will always be here for you." He hugged me. “You know that right? " He looked at me, and I looked at him.
"yeah, I know. " I smiled, and sipped my coffee till it was gone.
" I mean it, Jeong. If you need anything just call or text me. I’ll be there a soon as I can, Got that?"
I nodded, and tried not to tear up .
"I guess I should take a shower, and get ready for you to take me back home." I said, throwing, literally throwing, my cup in the trash like a was some basketball player, and a good basketball player.
"Yeah, if you would. Or you can just get dressed. It’s up to you. I have class at eight am tomorrow. So, we have to leave as soon as possible. " My brother sipped his coffee, and looked at the floor and yawned.
"Okay, I will go take a quick one. " I jumped up, and gathered some clothes, and went into the bathroom, and took a shower, in the tiny bathroom. I got dressed and blow dried my hair to get a little flip going in the front.
My brother went pee, and got dressed without a shower, and slipped his shoes on. We were both wearing sweats, and a hoodie. He put his hair up, and we left, and got into his car.
We played with his songs, and then mine. We would jam to pop music, country, and rock. We take turns singing like we were Ariana Grande, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj in Bang Bang. We would sing out hearts to some Carie Underwood, and some George Strait.
I introduced my brother to Kpop, and he liked it. His favorite was Bang Bang Bang by Bing Bang.
The entire car ride was us having a carpool karaoke.
We pulled down our road in our subdivision. My brother said "shit. what’s he doing here? "
There he was. he had short black hair and shorts and a tank. Tai’s twin brother: Tobey.
