Another school day came to a close, and everyone was talking about big Mike’s party tonight Great. I’m pretty sure Edward will want to go to this party.
Big Mike is a a tall football with a with spike platinum grey hair, who is super rich, and throws this amazing parties almost every weekend. They live on top of this mountain in the rich part of the city, and have own this playboy mansion type house. I know. I have seen picture scrolling through his Instagram, and his Facebook. Nobody posts on Facebook anymore, unless you are an old person because your child has one, and want to seem more tech savvy. Nowadays, it’s all twitter, Instagram, and snapchat. The young have figured out that there is more to life than Facebook, and candy crush , but unfortunately life has moved to twitter, and Instagram. We did not evolve very far. I’ve seen many people walk into walls, looking at their screens, and talking to their friends both beside them, and through a screen.
I walked to my locker, through a very crowded hallway, and grabbed my bag, and headed out to the line. Edward’s mother was driving a silver van.
"Hey, Jeong. Over here!" Edward waved from the front seat of his mom’s car. I walked over, and the door slid open. I gently put my bag down, and backpack. First impression is everything. I got into the van, and buckled up. The door slid shut with the press of a button. I guess it had to be a button. Either that or the van was haunted by a nice, gentleman spirit.
"Where did you decide to go to eat?" Edward said turning around in his chair. I looked at him, and smiled.
"Ummm.. How about we go to a steak house?" I said trying to be a little fancy, but not too fancy. I did not know their taste in food, so I picked something American.
Edward nodded, and so did his mother. "Sounds good to me, bro."
His mother wore pink lipstick, and hand curly updo hair. She whore a grey vest with a brooch, and hand on some black pants. She must have worked at somewhere that paid well, yet you never know in these times. Good dress does not alway mean good paying job. We have slipped far with society with merits, and it’s all about connections. Now everyone is not worried about how to think critically, but is more concerned with appearances, and being fake to get that latest connection. Being nice, and respectful have lost their place within society, it’s all a vain self-interest. Usually if someone is being nice, they are going to get something out of it. That is why I am so suspicious of nice people these days, and genuinely nice people are a rare breed these days.
"We’re going to stop by the house real quick." Edward said.
"Okay. " Is the only thing I could think of. I do not want to do anything special because I am with them. I just want them to be themselves. If Edward’s family is anything like he is, then they will be understanding, and not uptight, and nice. Edward can be a little preppy, but I think he puts on a façade for school, and for Danielle, who is really uptight. She is loved by everyone, and the type of girl that can get any guy to do anything she wants just by flipping her hair flowing brown hair. Her tan has mesmerized many, including myself.
We arrived at Edward’s house. It was small, but cozy. he lived in a medium sized subdivision. All the houses were of different shapes and sizes. It reminded me of country cottage I saw in an architecture magazine. Edwards room was dark grey with a futon bed. He had clothes everywhere, and a computer, and some robots that he had built.
"You can set your stuff down anywhere." Edward said, and sat in his computer chair. His mother called him, and he sighed, and left. I followed him, and looked at my phone. I had a message from Emily, and Chase. Both of them were going to Big Mike’s party tonight, and was wondering if I was going. I told them maybe, and that I will see them there hopefully. Emily sent back some heart emojis, and a couple emoji. Emily did not seem like the type to use a lot of hearts, but she does use them a lot. Sometimes, she uses just heart emojis in some texts. Chase sent back a winking, and kissing emoji. I rolled my eyes. He stills has feelings for me, but he knows where I stand, but there was that one kiss though. Ugh. Love is not for the weak. Or life for that matter. I’d love to have a micro house in the woods, with wifi, and books, and solar energy.
"have a sweet." Edward’s mother said. She was smiling, and very white teeth. The were pretty, and I could not keep my eyes off of them. I nodded, and sat down.
"You want something to drink? " She said, and picked up some newspaper from the floor."
"Oh, no thank you. I’m good." I said, and smiled. I sat there real straight, and looked around. I felt awkward for some reason. I mean this is my friends house. I should feel more comfortable, but for some reason I have to put on this act, and not inconvenience any member of the family. They all had things to do, and I did not want them to stop, and get me something.
I turned on the tv, hoping they would not mind. I flipped through the channels, waiting for them to get ready to go. I turned on the travel channel. They were in Thailand, and showing all the beaches and resorts of Thailand. Good advertising. Reach the vain hearts of people. I want to see the other parts of Thailand. The temples, and historical parts of Thailand. I want to see the government buildings.
Then they saw a lot of star fruit trees. I went giddy with excitement, and made a little squeak of a noise. Edward’s little brother stared at me like I was crazy. I blushed, and sat still.
"Are you his little brother?" I asked, trying to be polite, and talk.
"No, I’m the dog. " He snapped.
I was a little taken back, but I chuckled lightly.
We all piled into the car. Edwards mom, dad, Edward, and I. For a van this size, there was not very much room. It looks big, but it was deceiving. I sat in the very back with Edward, and he was texting Danielle, and Ty. They were getting ready to go to Big Mike’s party.
"You wanna go tonight, when we get back?" Edward said in a whisper.
I looked at him and shrugged. "If you want to." I whispered back.
"I can see if my neighbor will drop us off, or I can borrow his truck." He whispered, and sent a text.
"I know a few people that are going." I whispered.
"Almost the whole school will be there." He whispered back. His little brother was playing DS very loudly in the middle seats, so I knew no one heard us, but we still whispered anyway.
We got to the steakhouse, and it was crowded, but we were seated thanks to Edwards genius. He had the intelligence to make a reservation.
We were waited on by Zach’s girlfriend, at least I think she is his girlfriend. She said she knew me, and I went red, and looked around. Edward’s dad made a joke that made me blush. She took our drink order, after bring some rolls. I stuffed one into my mouth, so I would not have to talk about how I knew her.
She came, and I ordered a steak, and a salad. I drank my water, and Edward, and I talked amongst ourselves about our plan to sneak out, and his parents talked to themselves, and his little brother played his DS. We finished, and walked out, and Edward, and I fought to have the middle seat on the ride home with his little brother. His parents snapped at his little brother, and made him sit in the back this time. His little brother huffed in frustration, and sat in the back, while we were already seated in the middle seats.
We got home, and Edward and I played some PS4 in his room with the door shut, and locked.
