Chapter 23

The next day was pretty much just me attending school, but I did send a good morning text to Emily.

-Good morning beautiful. I can’t wait to see you today. Hope it is a good day. - It was nice having a girlfriend to text early in the morning, and cherish her throughout the day. Maybe I can get some pointers on what to do next from my brother. He always had a girl over almost every semester it seemed like. He must know something on what to do that would be special to give her every now and then. I at lunch with Sam, and Emily, and Chase joined us a little late. He too the long way to avoid the jocks that peruse the hallway.

It was Friday morning, and I was packing a bag to spend the night at Edwards. I was in a t-shirt and my underwear, packing all the essentials. I was very meticulous. I even made a list, and was crossing off everything, as I came to it.

"Let’s see. Shirts: Yep.

underwear: Yep

socks: Yep.

phone charger: Mmmm.. yep." I said, as I took it from the wall, and placed it in there.

"Tooth brush: Yep.

"Soap: Yep

Shampoo: Yep.

Brush: Nope." I went to the bathroom, and grabbed a brush, then went back to my room, and read off the list again. "Artemis fowl" Yep. It will be in here." I said as I folded up the paper, and placed it on the table instead of throwing it away.

I changed my clothes, put on my hoodie,  and grabbed my stuff, and went downstairs, and put everything in the  car.

Tai, and Tobey were rather obedient today. They both scarfed down their waffles, and orange juice. They got dressed with no fuss or anything. It was a good day. A strange, yet good day. The Sun was just peering over the horizon, it illuminated the fields of hay with fog. It was a very beautiful scene. I wish I could look at something like that every day for the rest of my life.

My mother dropped me off at school first, and I grabbed my bag from the trunk. I went to my locker, and shoved my back I packed into my locker.

"There you are. " I looked confused punching my bag in my locker, and shutting it closed. It was Zach. "Hey Zach. What’s up?"

"I heard you got a girl, who is also named Emily. "

I blushed slightly, and nodded. "Yeah. She’s perfect. "

"Trying to be like me are we?" He gave a malicious grin. It reminded me of the mouth of Sauron.

I laughed."Oh god. I could never be like you. You’re so outspoken, and ..daring.  That’s a good one. That made my day. " I spread my arms out in a dramatic pose.

I regained my composure. "So yeah. I don’t think I’m fit for being as wild and brave as you. "

He chuckled, and ran his fingers through his hair. "You should eat lunch with me and Emily. We eat in Mrs Hoots classroom. Room 241. "

I looked at him skeptically. "Maybe. I’ll have to check with Emily. "

"Emily will fine with... Oh. You mean your Emily. Right. Of course. "

I looked at him, and nodded my head in a sassy way. " Yeah. I wasn’t talking about yours. " I snapped, and checked my phone. Class did not begin for another thirty minutes. I wish it would start now because Zach was driving me crazy.

"I’m going to go practice Korean. My friend lent me his book. I want to get through this book, and move on to the next one. " He looked at me, and nodded, "See ya. " I turned around, and raised my eye brows, and fixed my hoodie, and held my phone in the pocket of my hoodie.

I got to the classroom, and sat in the back near the wall closest to the door. I sighed, and opened my book, and began with practicing writing the letters again. It was very soothing writing Korean. I wonder if. Chinese would be the same. I mean calligraphy was better of the arts, and someone did not write well, they were considered uneducated.

I focused on a writing Hangul, and got out some graph paper, and started writing the vocabulary from the chapter until class started.

English class was first, and I just read the entire time. We We were some Edgar Allen Poe short stories. These I could understand. I kept on reading, when the teacher stopped, and wanted to explain things, like metaphors, and symbolism. I rolled my eyes, and kept reading. I got a text Chase saying he was got his driver’s license today, but his mother won’t let him drive her car, or get him one. He would have to work to save up for a car. I still can not believe his parents are not accepting of of their child. It makes me appreciate my mother for loving me unconditionally. Well, I hope she does. She seems to say "I love you" a lot, and hugging me. I know I am going to love my children unconditionally, no matter who they are. I do not think I could live with myself otherwise. How do people go on living without love?

I went to math class next, and sat next to Edward.

"hey, bro." He said.

"What’s up. " I sat down, and took out my math book.

"My mother will pick us up at three today. "

I nodded." Okay. Out front? "

"yep. We’re going to go eat straight after, and since you are a guest you get to pick where you want to go eat. "
