Katherine Forrister liked an update for After Death

To all my patient supporters,

Happy New Year!

Over the past several months many of you have reached out to me, or stopped me in passing, to ask about the status of my novel AFTER DEATH. One or two even thought perhaps it had already come out, and that they’d somehow missed it.

An update is long overdue, and today is a good day to write one.

Back in October, the very kind Avalon Radys, director of marketing and publishing operations for my publisher Inkshares, let me know that my book wouldn’t be entering developmental editing until 2018, as their priority had to be books with Spring release dates.

A bit of a bummer, sure, but it made perfect sense to me, and provided me with the opportunity to do a twelfth draft of the novel, with the goal of further tightening the story and reducing the word count as much as possible.

That new draft is now complete and has been sent to Inkshares. So now, my friends, we wait.

Hopefully I’ll be paired with an editor soon, but even then it’s worth keeping in mind that it may still be a while before you are holding a copy of the book in your hands. After developmental editing there will still be copy editing, cover design, book design, and a slew of other steps I don’t even know about, I’m sure. The publishing process, I’m learning, is very slow.

In the meantime, there are a number of ways you can get a fix to tide you over:

1) visit the AFTER DEATH page on the Inkshares website here, where you can watch the updated book trailer, read sample chapters, leave a comment or review, pre-order copies, and recommend the novel to others. You can also sneak a peek at my new novel in progress, KING OF FIRE.

2) listen to the first chapter of AFTER DEATH, as read by actress Jessica Rothert, here (Vimeo) or here (YouTube). While you’re at it, check out the AFTER DEATH YouTube playlist I’ve begun assembling here, which features not only the trailer and first chapter, but also other related videos that hint at the ideas explored in the book.

3) visit and "Like" the AFTER DEATH Facebook page here, where you can stay updated on news, as well as the latest promotional material.

4) follow me on Twitter and Instagram. See photos of my cats.

5) check out more of my work at Dan-Lee.net, including my short story The Equestrian, which is available for a buck on Amazon.

6) check out and support the work of other talented Inkshares authors, among them Katherine Forrister, Matthew Isaac Sobin, Christopher Huang, J. Danielle Dorn, Tal Klein, J-F Dubeau, Kyle Cowan, Jacqui Castle, Evan Graham, Brian Fitzpatrick, Eric Heisner, and Erin Evan, who has written perhaps my most anticipated book of the coming year, The Pirates of Montana.

Thank you all so much for your continued patience and support. This book has been my biggest creative project for nearly nine years, and it’s humbling and thrilling to know that so many people are excited to read it.

I’ll be sure to keep you all updated as things progress. And, as always, it means the world to me anytime you recommend AFTER DEATH to anyone and help spread the word.

Thanks again! You are all amazing!

Katherine Forrister sent an update for Curio Citizen

Happy Holidays to all of my amazing friends and supporters!

As this year comes to a close, I want to thank you all again for your generous contributions towards making Curio Citizen a reality. I also want to give you all a brief update on what’s happening in the publishing process.

As of now, I am still waiting to begin the process of editing, cover creation, and everything else that needs to happen in order to get Curio Citizen ready for bookshelves. Inkshares has many books currently in production, but I’ve heard through the grapevine that they are nearly finished with their current round of books, and after the new year will begin focusing on the next batch, which I’m happy to say, includes Curio Citizen.

I still don’t have an estimated publication date, but as promised, I will continue to give you all updates as soon as I know more. Thank you many times over for making 2017 a sparkling year in my life. Hopefully, 2018 will reward your generosity by sending a copy of Curio Citizen your way!

Much love to all and Happy New Year!

    -Katherine

Katherine Forrister liked an update for Eudaimonia

      Hello Friends!

I wanted to first wish you a "happy holidays"!

Then I wanted to give you a few updates:
      1. Eudaimonia - everything has been submitted and now we are just waiting. I will let you know as soon as I hear something.

      2. NaNoWriMo- This is the first time I have participated in National Novel Writing Month. My word count at the end of November is 14,247. Now, when you consider the goal of 50,000 words that 14,247 does NOT look all that impressive. 28% achievement of any goal could be considered failure. But, when you consider everything else I was working on in November ( 3 college classes, work, coordinating an office move, needing to eat and sleep) 14,247 words doesn’t seem so terrible after all. AND when I tell you that these 14,247 words were the beginning of the SEQUEL to Eudaimonia, they start looking pretty darn good!
As it is with most things, it is all about how you frame it. But to sweeten the sell, I want you to know that I have an attainable December writing goal of 5,000 words. So, by the end of the year that 14,247 should be 19,247.  That is nearly 20,000 words in the SEQUEL direction. Super cool.

After all of your help and support to get Eudaimonia in the "publishing way," I didn’t want you to think I was ungrateful or had fallen into a hole.  I am working, and I will continue to work (because this whole Eudaimonia- getting -published-thing has given me momentum and made me insufferable to be around.)

Thank you so much (AGAIN) for everything!
I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

      Your pal,
      Meghan Godwin

Katherine Forrister liked an update for Mission 51

        Quick update-

The 94,200 word Mission 51 manuscript delivered to Inkshares is currently waiting its turn in the editing queue. I am told it may be after the first of the year before the Inkshares staff can "dive into it." - I think I can hold my breath that long!

Meanwhile, Mission 51 got a little press on Nerdist:

          WE. DID. IT.

First things first, congratulations to Paul, Kate, and Susan. This was hard, so, way to persevere. This was not for the faint of heart and you guys did GREAT!

Now, to my people: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I’m sure you are tired of hearing it, but everyone is getting a THANK YOU. This would not have been possible without you. So when I say, "we did it" I truly mean this was a "we" thing. And I am so excited to get to share this experience with you!

          More to come, for sure.

          Your very grateful friend,

Katherine Forrister liked an update for Lucky

Good evening, my wonderful and faithful Readers,

As many of you have noticed, you’ve started receiving emails saying that your payments for Lucky are being refunded. Please, do not panic! This is all part of a plan, I promise.

Recently, it has become apparent to me that Lucky’s best chance for success is along a self-publishing path. She is already scheduled to go to a copy-editor in December and to be formatted and released early in 2018. I will of course keep you all informed as we progress.

Now is when I need your support and patience more than ever. I still believe wholeheartedly in Lucky and I want you to believe as well. Please stay in touch and let me know your thoughts as we go through the next few months. I am all over social media (can’t miss me!) as well as have a new email set up specifically for handling Lucky-related everything. So please, reach out! I want to hear from you!

Thank you all for everything! You have not only helped this novel grow, but you have helped me believe in myself as an author. I look forward to continued adventures in the (not too distant) future!

Thank you so much for your help yesterday!

With about 15 hours left only 24 pre-orders are separating 3rd place from 4th place. Intense!

Thank you so much for helping me to stay in 3rd. I appreciate all your shares, emails, and text messages in order to keep Eudaimonia in a spot where it can be published!

When I started writing it, five years ago, I did not foresee a day like today. There was a lot of, “Dear God, woman, do you have any idea of how a comma works?” and “I think I have the beginning and end, but the middle doesn’t seem to be coming together.” and of course, “I swear Cat! If you do not get off the keyboard I will make shoes out of you!”

So, today, for a host of reasons, is a VERY GOOD day!

I’m so excited to see how the chips fall today.

If you haven’t pre-ordered, today would be an excellent day to do so!

And of course, if you have (I am indebted to you until death) Would you mind sharing this link? Or maybe a social media shout out? You can share directly to Twitter and Facebook from this link as well:
