Little Brother and Little Sister

00:05:06 :: 00:06:00

When Little Brother
and Little Sister
fled from Stepmother,
she cursed the rivers
all throughout the woods.

One river gurgled,
“You’ll be a tiger."
So Little Sister
cried, “Do not drink here,
you will eat me up."

One river gurgled,
“You’ll become a wolf."
So Little Sister
cried, “Do not drink here,
you will eat me up."

One river gurgled,
“You will be a fawn."
So Little Sister
cried, “Do not drink here,
you may run away."

Yet Little Brother
drank of that water,
turned into a fawn
Sister then gartered
to lead him along.

They found a small hut
deep in the forest,
lived off the wild’s fruits,
might have been perfect;
weren’t Brother a fawn.

The king of that land,
he held a great hunt;
the forest rang with
blaring and barking;
Fawn could not resist.

So Little Brother
begged Little Sister
and she relented
under the promise
he be home that night.

He could not be caught,
but he was followed;
and, so the king fell
in love with Sister,
taking the pair home.

Stepmother found them,
tried to spoil their joy,
instead fell victim
to her own malice
once the king knew all.

With Stepmother dead,
Little Brother freed,
Sister and Brother
lived quite happily
as in tales of old.
