I’m with my dad but mom hasn’t been around for a while. She just kinda disappeared one day and no one was able to find her. She was declared dead April 17th, 2008, we said our goodbyes to mom on April 22, 2008. I cried my eyes out, I miss my mom.
I’ve been living with my dad he is continuing to prove that he is still the best daddy ever. Today is the reading of the will. And police are waiting for me afterward, things go well and I get her copies of what I was unable to access for the case. She printed it out and hid it in the safety deposit back all her kids also go part of her retirement fund and I got her car.
I finally get done and my dad leaves me his keys and I follow the police back to the station one last time until after I’m 21 and I can legally become a police officer. I got in and the person at the desk, just takes my purse and does not wand me, instead this new girl just shakes my hand and says, "I’m sorry for your loss."
I try to resist crying, it doesn’t work. I’m balling and the captain comes to me and hugs me, "Little Flynn, it will be okay. Please come with me." I can barely move, I just grab onto him as I practically collapse to the ground he holds me up. "She was a wonderful woman." I continue to cry. He starts to cry as well. "We can’t cry here, let’s go." He starts dragging me away as people come in and I try my best to move, I continue to cry not caring who sees until I see a cute guy then I run ahead crying hysterically. I run to the woman’s restroom and into a stall.
A female officer comes in after a little while, "I know you don’t want to be around here. You are grieving I understand this Laurie. We think your nemesis is directly involved. But it would connect him to murder if we can prove it but we can’t directly prove it."
I bust out of the stall, knocking off the door out of anger hitting her back a little bit I scream at her, "What was that!? Are you fucking kidding me!? I swear I’m going to fucking kill him! Give me the evidence immediately! Don’t just stand there cowering! Show me the fucking evidence!"
"Laurie, you’re in a police station. Calm down this instance young lady! Seriously you’ve had so much anger for so long. If you ever get arrested we will make sure you get anger management. Actually, we might press charges for that door, destruction of property."
"Insanity! Boom! Let’s go talk with the captain he invited me here." I walk out of the bathroom and straight to his office. "Chief I’m ready."
He looks up at me and addresses me sternly, "There is someone asking for a favor wait your turn outside the doors real quick." I wait impatiently walking to my old computer station that I was at I start to log in. "Laurie! Step away from the computer and get in here! You are not permitted in there anymore."
I walk swiftly ashamed, sad and angry, "Sorry sir." And walk to him with my head down.
He walks up to me and hugs me, "it will be okay. I loved your mother, she was a wonderful woman she was family to all of us here. A little negative and depressed but she always worked hard. And she made it so that you were here working on that case."
"I want Gamma! He did this!"
"He might have a connection but we wanted you to see the warrant for his arrest for conspiracy. And why we wanted you to see the letter for what made us finally get the final straw but he is in Illinois it’s a pretty tight alibi since she disappeared from Arizona".
"Give it to me!"
We walk down to the evidence locker together. "Hey Johnny, do you have that copy of the thing?"
"Here you go." He hands over a note and a vanilla envelope to the captain.
The captain says, "Laurie you can look at these photos but we need them back immediately. But read the note first please."
"Dear Law enforcement, (note was dictated not wrote by independent mind) and Laurie Flynn
Today is a big day for you. Give the family of Sergent Leslie Flynn of Arizona PD some peace of mind when it comes to her body. She got too close to our organization and so did her daughter. A high-ranking member decided that Laurie was cute and wants to wreak her himself so we were told to only go after Leslie, he sounded like he loved her saying that if Laurie was hurt he would not pay the second half. We had the order to dispose of the body in a profitable way and send this letter to five different addresses in the world before sending it to you, let some time go by. If it makes you feel any better this is the amounts that were split between both parties involved when it came to profit.
Each kidney: $250,000 ea
Liver: $150,000
Heart: $100,000
Eyes: $1200 ea
Skull with most teeth: $750
Stomach: $250
Blood: $1800 we only sold 6 pints
Her skeleton we got $2500
In this bag that this note is attached to we leave you hair, nails, skin, some of her blood. You identify her and decide if either one of our organizations is playing around. Everything else was put in acid and dissolved under the order of the hit he was very particular about the rest of the body he kept saying, "no evidence will be forgiven". When Laurie, Leslie’s daughter reads this, he hopes that from then on that she backs off from the case but in a twisted way still wants to take her out for dinner, movie, and star gazing someday.
The one who ordered the hit has a message he wants to be very specific about, ’You can’t find me, can’t touch me because I do not wish it yet. You will be mine someday, Laurie Flynn.’
Regards, Los Zetas and The Organization.
PS. The one writing and licking the envelope was a semi-willing participant we told her we were going to kill her we are paying her family for her death, her services. Recruiting from the suicide hotline is awesome! Gamma decided to actually pay the family for the service of their child we were going to not pay."
I look up shaken and angry, "Why wasn’t this brought to my attention earlier?"
"We got this as a delivery to our front door by a man in all black he put it in the bushes outside and left very quickly. The bomb squad from SWAT discovered what it was exactly at 5:15 am this morning." I say nothing, letting it all sink in that I will never see my mother again. I’m only 18, and I will never see my mother again. "If you need a hug or to talk I’ll be here for you." He opens his arms for me. I just cry as he hugs me. He opens up and asks me, "do you want to see the pictures now?"
"Not right now, can I see them later?"
"Officially, no. Will I allow it, yes. You have my number."
"Thank you. That is what I need right now. Can I continue access to the system to continue looking into him?"
"I can’t allow that Laurie. There is going to be a warrant for his arrest going through as we speak. And things will take a whole new turn for him. I will be more than glad to let you see him but you will be restrained, I know better with your temper. Yes, you will be in handcuffs again for your temper."
"What about the rest of his organization?"
"Rico charges will take a long time for the rest of them. Something like 10 years if we are able to make it a priority or we use much more people than we have in our department. But you tried to get Alpha and Gamma that is 2/48 and it’s taken you almost four years, it’s insane. That had to be an easy 10,000 hours to almost get him on murder Laurie, they might get away with it. If everyone is as difficult to nail like Nailing Jelly to a Tree like your guys that are an easy 240,000 man hours. I don’t think we will be allowed to do that, this case is almost a cold case already, I’m so sorry Laurie."
"We have so much evidence though."
"Laurie, calm yourself. You think we do but it’s all circumstantial and yes he did incriminate himself but nothing was ever on video, nothing in person, no video, no fingerprints. Nothing physical at all. The organization doesn’t play games they are not like a normal gang its like they are a cartel and mob combined with a ranking system we do not understand."
"You know I’m going to do my own research right?"
"And I know I cannot stop you. If you are able to get more than circumstantial evidence I want to know about it myself. I do wish that you would stop because he warns about you getting too close, and that was back when you were an active acting detective. They threatened a cop and other than witness protection there is little we can do. Let alone this psychopath taking a liking to you wanting to date you after he killed your mother."
"I’m going to do the impossible. I’m going to nail jelly to a tree."
"Don’t waste food, Laurie."
I give him another hug as I can’t help but laugh stopping my tears, "I love you so much, Chuck."
"That copy of the letter I gave you is your copy. I will secretly be copying a copy of many things from you. I don’t know what your mom saved for you but I know that she saved some of the files for you that she should not have. But I’m going to on paper say that I had no idea. Just like I have no idea how you received your copies of everything."
"Can I visit still? You guys are like an extended version of family."
"We will help you through this. And if you get the more concrete evidence I’m serious I want it in our files even if its something small slip it in my mailbox if you don’t want to come here for whatever reason. But I’m the only one who can help you link things together from now on."
"Do you want to change the safeword now that I’m no longer closely associated?"
"No keep it as sunset, otherwise no one will know what you are talking about and I won’t get the message."
"I hope to not have to talk to you again for a while. But we are all very sorry for your loss. Your father is waiting for you when you get home."
"Can I please get a ride home?"
"Of course, lets go to my car and I will take you home personally." I get home without incodent, we don’t talk much. My mom’s car is in the driveway, I sold it to help pay for my mom’s funeral.
My dad comes out to me and hugs me, and my older siblings are around as well. One of them hands me a card. I open it up, "Those we love never go away. They walk beside us everyday: unseen, unheard but never unfelt. Always near, still loved, still missed and very dear." Its signed by everyone in the department for me "we found the car you sold and we all pitched in to buy it from the guy you sold it to when he found out the backstory on why copa want to buy it he was more than happy". I begin to cry again but this time with a smile.
