Thank you, Conner, for this opportunity to share. God bless you real good.
We are told every time that a man with a dream is the one that can move forward in life. We are told that dreams make you stand on pedestals that you never thought possible. We are also told that dreams are the eyes into the future you want for yourself. What we aren’t told is that just having a dream(s) is not enough. Having a dream will not provide the next meal, neither will it make any difference until something is done with it! A dream will remain just a dream until you do something with it and harness it.
Life is much more than just having dreams and some more dreams. This will only translate into building castles in the air. Life is more about producing results, that is why you will see that men love to associate with results more than the dream. A person who has made something work produced result with whatever he has at the moment will have much more influence than one who sits in his house or workplace dreaming all day. A man of great dreams should be a man of great results!
WHAT IS A DREAM?
Dreams are potential realities! This kind of dream is not the one you always/seldom have when you go to bed during the day or at night. This kind of dream is more than that! This dream is a fire burning within man that makes him uncomfortable with not enough or just enough.
A dream is the real reality one sees oneself living in and living out. It is a picture that is brought about by inspiration in a man’s spirit. It is a God-given motion picture that should spur onto good works and good living.
WHY DREAMS?
God did not make a man that will be satisfied with just enough. He made man to rule, dominate, subdue, replenish and multiply on the face of the earth (Genesis 1:26-30). His big dream is that man lives as the god that he truly is and make things to happen all around him (Psalms 82:6). The real gods do not just lie dormant and remain in a state of latency or inactivity. The real gods move, live, talk and exercise their God-given authority wherever they find themselves.
He did not make us to be ordinary or to live ordinary lives. We were made to live extraordinarily by fulfilling our God-given/God-inspired dreams. So, if you have wondered/are wondering why you are always uncomfortable with your situation, know that there is nothing wrong with that or with you (for that matter) and know it is just your natural disposition to want something (to be) better till it’s the best and at par with excellence after God’s nature. Great thing about all these is that, God did not just give you a dream, he also placed: His Word (His promises and realities concerning you in His word), His Spirit (your Greatest Advantage in life) and His Relationships(His people to mentor, motivate, grow you into the dream person).
Your dreams can only see fruition when you embrace all that God has for you by trusting Him even when it seems insane and non-progressive. Trust His instructions, plans, words, and people! He is a good Abba, thus He can only have GOOD things planned for you. Jeremiah 29:11.
HOW DO I DISCOVER MY DREAMS?
*Know the One behind the dream. When you know the One behind the dream, then you can know what the dream is all about; what the dream was given to accomplish/ the motive behind it. When you know the Source of the inspiration, you can keep getting inspired. You may ask how do I know the One behind the dream. First of all, you have to confess the Lordship of Christ and believe in His resurrection from the dead. Then, you stay in close and intimate fellowship with Him; daily learning at His feet by communing with Him and studying His written word; following His instructions and obeying His commandments. As you move daily in fellowship with Him, you begin to find yourself and discover His dreams for you.
*Ask the One behind the dream. Jesus was teaching in the Gospels and said that people have not received because they did not ask. Ask and you shall receive (Matthew 7:7). He is the only One who can answer your questions about your dream(s) because He is the designer of it. And He will ALWAYS answer you.
*Be deliberate about learning. The actualization of your dream will not fall into your laps like candy. You have to be willing to work and till your dream till it becomes the real deal. God placed man in Paradise, the place of all good and beautiful things, but man was not there just to lie under the sun by the beach to have a tan. He was placed there to work, till, dress it (Genesis 2:15). Be deliberate about learning more about your dream(s). Strive to do things to the best of the best you can. Go all out for it. Be willing to be mentored, instructed, taught by men who have also done something with their dream and learn from their progress and even, mistakes. Make a conscious effort to learn something new about your dream every day.
*Watch your company. Your company of friends or association of your inner circle matters as much as the breath you breathe. Evil communications corrupt good manners (1 Corinthians 15:33). True friends will always motivate you to move forward in life and support your right decisions, they will let you know when you are going the wrong way and pray for you. They are friends that stick closer than a brother. Learn to discern the difference between life-long friends and acquaintances.
*Be people- and result-oriented. Do not be a people-user. Encourage even the people around you who are helping you reach your goal and actualization of your dream. Learn to discern this and let them help you in their capacity. People that will help you with your dreams have been placed around you for a reason by the Master Orchestrator. Learn to handle people well, they are as precious as your dream is!
Be result-oriented too. Do not just be making use of resources without commensurate result attached to it. Be diligent in the process and you will see the result. It is only your result most people will be able to relate to. The news we see and hear around the world were mostly drawn to because of the result produced, before the process was discovered. Make good use of your resources to produce good results.
*Understand time and seasons. Be sure to take on only what you can handle per time. Learn to strike a balance between knowing when to do something and when to just take a backseat and enjoy. Learn to make time for fun. Don’t be so rigid about meeting your targets that you forget to take care of yourself and enjoy your life. Take goofy selfies, tell a joke, give a compliment, smile a lot. Take a second, a minute, an hour, a day or month off and just breathe and enjoy yourself.
*Learn to give thanks. In all situations, at every step in the process, good or bad, learn to give thanks. Thanksgiving is an acknowledgment of receipt. Give thanks for your dream at all times. There will be times that discouragement will want to set in, counter it with thanksgiving. Give thanks and watch things move speedily.
These things might seem like a whole lot to do but trust and lean on God for His strength and grace and watch yourself transform your world for Him!
