A few updates on Not Afraid of the Fall!

The book is now available in audiobook form on Amazon! Audible bought the rights and released the audiobook last week. The book has since become a Best Seller in the Travel section.

I also want to ask that if you have not already - you would please leave a review on Amazon! I know it is tedious, but it helps the book out tremendously!

Lastly... WE HAVE SOLD OVER 8,000 BOOKS! I can’t tell you how thankful I am that you believed in this book LONG before 7,250 other people did. You supported me and this dream when I was *desperately* trying to reach 750 preorders and I am forever grateful for that. Because of you, this book is reaching people all over the world and inspiring people to see the world.

On behalf of me and those 7,250 people - Thank. You. So. Much.

Cheers,

KJ

Friends and Family,

WE ARE MAKING WAVES!

Not Afraid of the Fall is ranking incredibly high right now thanks to you guys and has almost broken the top 100 Best Selling books on Amazon. Spoiler - there are a TON of books on Amazon...

However, we are in dire need of reviews. In order for the book to gain exposure and be seen on larger pages, we need 100 reviews. We currently have 15 and they are terrific (for the most part), but 15 is not quite enough!

If you have finished reading Not Afraid of the Fall, or are far enough to have a pretty good idea of what is going on 😉, please help out! Thanks in advance!!

Congrats on the 5k teir, (really 6.4k!) @Kyle James ! Super stoked for you, man!

Hey Friends,

I have SOME HUGE NEWS regarding Not Afraid of the Fall:

I am pretty proud to announce that I just wrote and article in Cosmopolitan on the dedication section of Not Afraid of the Fall!

I also wanted to announce that Not Afraid of the Fall is a a #1 New Release on Amazon!

PLEASE help me continue this momentum by leaving a review on Amazon and Goodreads!

That’s all I have for now my friends.

With love,

KJ

Wow - what a week.

Not Afraid of the Fall has been out for *almost* a week now and the support from you - my friends and family - has been incredible.

We had two successful book launches in Chapel Hill at FlyLeaf Books and in Asheville at Malaprop’s Bookstore. The local Asheville paper, Mountain Xpress also had this great piece! I was able to thank many of you in person for helping make this dream come true, but I want those to know that couldn’t attend how much your support means to me.

As the dust settles a bit, I have one last favor to ask (I swear). As this book navigates through the ocean of literature, reviews are necessary to stand out.

Please leave a review on Goodreads and Amazon!!! This is the only way for the book to reach a larger audience.

(Let me know when you leave a review so I can shower you with compliments and thanks!!)

Thanks again for your love and support and please reach out to me once you have finished the book! I would love to hear from you.

-Love KJ
Friends and Family,

We are only two weeks away from the publication date of Not Afraid of the Fall.

I have heard from many of you that you are reading. If you have finished the book, let me know what you think! What were your favorite parts? What were your least favorite parts? I really do want to hear from you and thank you once again for supporting me on this journey.

If you did not receive the E-book in your email and think you should have, please reach out to me as we ran into trouble with a few.

I want to re-extend the invitation to both book launch parties in Chapel Hill, NC and Asheville, NC. At the event I will talk about the book, sign books, answer any questions about the book or our journey, and read some of my favorite chapters!

Let me know if you have any questions about the events and I hope you can make one of both!

Almost there....

KJ

Friends and Family,

The time has come.

THE E-COPY BOOK OF NOT AFRAID OF THE FALL IS HERE!

The hard copies still won’t be ready until July 11th but we decided to set the E-books free ahead of the publication date so we can build some more hype around the launch! After all, you guys have been waiting long enough...

If you ordered a copy, you will receive the E-book download in your email around noon!

This is the important part... I want to hear from you! If you received the book, please reach out to me. If you plan on reading it, please reach out to me. If you don’t, still reach out to me! I want to thank each and everyone one of you again personally for making this happen and would love to answer any questions about the book!

I have been working on this project for two years now and as you can imagine, I am both excited and nervous to hear what you think. More than anything, I am excited you will HAVE the book that I promised you!

One last thing - Reviews are a large part of how this industry works and quite frankly, can make or break how a book does. Please, please, please take a few minutes to review the book on:

Thanks again for joining me on this journey and making this dream a reality and please spread the word that you are reading the book!!!

P.S. We have two book launch parties at the following locations. PLEASE join us if you can make it to either event!

  • Tuesday July 11th from 6:30-8:30pm at FlyLeaf Books in Chapel Hill, NC
  • Thursday July 13th from 7-9pm at Malaprops Bookstore in Asheville, NC

Cheers friends, we made it,

KJ

Hey there Not Afraid of the Fall team!

EXCITING NEWS....WE HAVE A BOOK COVER!

Inkshares outdid themselves once again (For a small team, this company truly is incredible) and created the masterpiece that is on the Not Afraid of the Fall page:

https://www.inkshares.com/books/not-afraid-of-the-fall

We are in the final stages of the book and almost to the end of the publishing road. This has been a two year project of mine so as you can imagine, I am getting incredibly excited over here.

I do want to stress that I cannot thank you enough for staying patient with me and supporting this dream of mine a year ago knowing (or maybe not knowing...sorry!) that it would be a year and a half before you got your book!

Well only a few more months and it will be in your hands whether paperback or E-version this July!

Cheers,

Kyle James

Hello "Not Afraid of the Fall" Team,

I hope this email finds you gearing up for an eventful NYE celebration with the people you love.

It has been a hell of a year for "Not Afraid of the Fall". Rather than update you on where we are with the editing process (The developmental editor Inkshares found is an absolute genius and is finalizing his edits on the book. We are looking at a mid-summer release.), I wanted to offer some words of advice/encouragement for 2017.

I started 2016 with the hopes of somehow getting this story of our journey to the world, and am finishing 2016 preparing "Not Afraid of the Fall" to hit stores this summer...

Needless to say, a lot can change in a year.

I encourage each and every one of you to take what you learned in 2016, the good and the bad, and use those experiences to set lofty goals in 2017. Many (including myself) are afraid to set goals because of the embarrassment or disappointment of falling short of the finish line. I understand that. Fear has prevented me from attempting many things in life. Things that I look back on and regret not going after because I know I could have achieved them. If only I would have listened to FDR during that 5th grade project when he taught me the "only thing we have to fear is fear itself"...However, if there is anything "Not Afraid of the Fall" has taught me, it’s that you can’t reach the finish line if you don’t start running.

I hope you set lofty goals this year to start chasing something you have always wanted to. You don’t have to achieve them this year (Hell, I have been working on this book for two years now), just start running in the right direction.

As far as this book goes, the finish line is in sight. I can’t wait to see you all there and share the finished product with you.

KJ
Not Afraid of the Fall-ers,

I wanted to thank those of you that are patiently waiting to get your hands on this book!

There are a few updates:

First: Angela and the amazing marketing team at Inkshares have come up with an inspirational sub-title for the book so people do not assume it is about skydiving or inexperienced stair climbing:

Not Afraid of the Fall: A Travel Memoir for the Wanderlust Generation

Second: I am currently in the editing stage of trimming the copy. As it turns out, the 200 page Google doc manuscript that I submitted translated to a 700 page book...I am sure there are only five or six of you out there that would have read a 700 page book that didn’t have Harry Potter in the title.

I plan on re-submitting the trimmed manuscript by the end of the month and beginning the deeper editing process with my Inkshares family.

With love from Asheville,

KJ
