Chapter 12
Once again, through the secret door that Bill had used to rescue Dr Khan, the three of them entered the building as quiet as mice. Some guards were patrolling the area and Andrea was a bit terrified seeing them.
"Come on," said Bill in a low voice, "We have to move fast and quietly."
The three of them darted down the corridor without making any noise. It was surprising that the android guards, whom Ryan once declared as "the best guards ever", could not hear Andrea, Bill and Dr Khan darting through the corridors.
"Alright," said Bill as they arrived in front of the door, "This is the place."
"We need to create a distraction," said Andrea.
Bill took out his laser gun and shot it up into the ceiling twice. As soon as the shot was fired, the alarm went off.
"The Tifias have really advanced technology that allows them to determine which gun is the bullet from," said Bill. Andrea and Dr Khan were marveled by this revelation.
"The future would be great without the Tifias, don't you think?" said Dr Khan to no one in particular as the three of them quickly hid in the dark. Their dark-colored clothing helped their cover as the guard swooped down the corridors.
"Don't let your guard down," yelled Ryan, "They must be here somewhere. Don't leave any stone unturned."
As the guards swooped the corridors to find the trio, Ryan opened the door to the time machine. He smiled as he stared at it. This baby took 113 months to be built. He knew that Bill, the turncoat would never dare to steal the project that they had worked on together. But his assumptions were obviously wrong, for as soon as Andrea saw the door open, she signalled to Bill and Dr Khan to make their move.
The trio quietly tip-toed into Ryan's room without the guards noticing them. As soon as they entered, the alarm went off however, completely dampening Andrea's foolproof plan.
Within a jiffy, guns were surrounding them. The three of them were trapped as Ryan laughed heartily. We've walked right into a trap! And now there's no way out! thought Andrea.
My life is futureless, thought Andrea sadly.
