Chapter 11

Dr Khan set sadly in his cell, thinking of how Andrea was coping without him. Solitude for the past 7 hours was hell for him. For the first time, he regretted not telling Andrea more information about Ryan. I just hope she isn't captured, he thought. If she is, I'll never forgive myself.

He suddenly heard footsteps from outside his cell. Those footsteps were quite soft and patchy, but he was sure that they were actual footsteps. The android guards hadn't visited him even once since he was trapped here. Was it someone coming to save him?

Bill sneaked in quietly through the back door of the building. He was the only android who knew about the door. Ryan had trusted him so much to tell him about the door, and Bill was grateful for that.

The footsteps became tip-toes as Bill slowly made his way through the corridors. He took a left turn and continued straight ahead. He took the secret path to the room where Dr Khan was kept. Once again, through his knowledge, Bill knew exactly where Dr Khan.

Bill then saw the room down the corridor and quietly opened it as he muttered the passcode; A113. The door swished open and Dr Khan's eyes met Bill. Dr Khan was puzzled at Bill's entrance.

"Gabriel," said Bill.

"How do you know my name?" asked the spooked Dr Khan, "And who are you?"

"There's no time for that," said Bill, "I've come to get you out."

"Are you sure I can trust you?" Bill nodded.

"Why isn't Andrea here?"

"She can't be here. They're on the watch for her," said Bill, "Now can we please get out of here?"

The two men quickly dashed their way out of the room. But before they could do anything, a crackling sound was triggered. It was the alarm.

"Oh no!" said Dr Khan, "We've got to get out of here Bill."

"We'll never make it," said Bill, "The protocol is that whenever there's a security breach, the entire building gets locked down."

"Then what are we going to do?"

"Follow my lead," said Bill.

A troop of robotic guards swooped the area seconds after Bill and Dr Khan had fled. "Bill's returned. And I know he's somewhere here," said one of the androids.

"We'll scoop the corridors to find them," said two androids, "You can count on us Hunt."

The two androids darted down the corridors to search for Dr Khan and Bill. They searched the area thoroughly, but there was no sign of the duo.

But as soon as the androids split ways at the end of the corridor, they disappeared. The leader of the soldiers said, "Have you guys found them?" but there was no response on the other end. He decided to go there himself as he had the suspicion that Dr Khan and Bill were there.

"Guys!" he yelled as he walked down the corridor, but there was no response.

Just as Hunt was about to approach them, the two androids suddenly reappeared.

"Nope, there's nothing," said one of them, "They must have escaped."

In fact, they were right, for Bill and Dr Khan had managed to leave the building through the same secret door that he had entered from earlier.

Dr Khan and Bill reached the hotel room that Andrea was in. As soon as Andrea and Dr Khan saw each other, they embraced each other.

"Dr Khan!" said Andrea happily, "I'm so glad you're alive."

"Andrea," said Dr Khan cautiously, "There's something I've realized when I was captive." He felt guilty not telling her the truth, but seeing how much Andrea valued his contributions to the search, he decided to tell her the truth.

"There's more to the truth than it meets the eye," said Dr Khan, "I'm sorry Andrea but I didn't tell you the truth about Ryan."

"What about him?" asked Andrea. She noticed that he was becoming apprehensive.

Dr Khan struggled to answer her.

"Tell me what's wrong Dr Khan," begged Andrea. He then gave in to her and related the connection between him and Ryan.

"Now now Andrea," said Bill as he stepped forward, "I know you're going to be angry at him but anger is just going to come in the way of everything."

"Don't worry Bill," said Andrea, "Dr Khan has helped me in almost every way possible. I'm not angry at him."

Dr Khan was jubilated at Andrea's words. He hugged her again and thanked her.

"Guys!" exclaimed Bill, "We don't have time for your mushy-tales. Where's the time machine that Andrea told me about?"

"The TiMo?" asked Dr Khan in confusion, "It was destroyed when the Tifias attacked us in Harvey's shop."

"Oh boy," said Bill, "In that case, we've only got one way to resolve the problem."

"Breaking into Ryan's office and steal his master time machine?" asked Dr Khan.

Bill stared at him half-angry as Dr Khan has read his mind.

"Is that what we have to do Bill?" asked Andrea. Bill nodded reluctantly.

"That's our only way out," said Bill, "His machine has access to the infinite timelines that he has messed with."

"Really?" asked the surprised Andrea.

"Yeah," said Bill, "Only the top-ranking human members in the Tifias have access to it."

"But someone as crazy as Ryan would have kept it under top security," said Dr Khan, "Is that right Bill?" Bill was forced to nod again.

"As far as I know, it has a fingerprint scan, retinal scan and full body recognition," said Bill, "That's going to make it hard for us to access it."

"Then we just have to lead Ryan there," said Andrea.

Both Dr Khan and Bill were confused at Andrea's statement.

"We have to let him lead us to his master time machine," said Andrea.

"Can it be perfectly executed though?" asked the worried Dr Khan.

"We have to give it a shot," retorted Andrea. Bill patted Andrea's back in support of her plan.

"Let's do it then," said Andrea, "Now Bill here's where you come in..."
