Chapter 2 Synopsis
RedNinjaLieutenant remains very suspicious of the con artist however. Meanwhile Origami Mage and 2 Ronin keep up appearances at the town inn, making it seem as if they are departing soon. RedNinjaLieutenant hires the con artist to help him approach the Boy Prince; since it does not seem like his reinforcements will arrive before Boy Prince leaves the Town Inn. This is false information provided by WhiteNinja. In reality, Red Ninja reinforcements will arrive this very night, disguised as EvilClanInPower magistrate.
MainChar, the Entertainers, and some Red Ninja soldiers move to the Town Inn, again disguised as the magistrate. Along the way MainChar kills all of the Red Ninja soldiers, and then sends ahead to meet the Red Ninja reinforcements (acting as a real EvilClanInPower magistrate of higher rank). Mentor and Boy Prince sneak out of the countryside inn and head around town thru the fields (with help of Kami). The two fake magistrates meet in the afternoon in the park. RedNinjaLieutenant waits at the countryside in. Bluffing his way thru the meeting, MainChar leaves the Red Ninja reinforcements and heads out of town, his entourage including the CooksBoy, Origami Mage and 2 Ronin. MainChar and company meet up with the Boy Prince and his Mentor on the road. That night, the Red Ninja attack the town inn (after reconciling their stories and realizing they have been duped), but not only is no one there, the place has been booby trapped by our heroes resulting in the deaths of many Red Ninja.
Our heroes begin to journey back towards the capital, planning to travel via the mountains and hills and avoid the more populous lowlands. The Entertainers are putting on shows to help raise traveling money. Mentor is in communication with mysterious persons, we learn that these are not WhiteNinja, but some other force. MainChar secretly writes two letters to some old friends in the capital, sending them one via WhiteNinja, one via a private messenger for hire. The messages are both coded, and are meant to act as a check on the WhiteNinja as well as to ascertain the political climate. Meanwhile the real magistrate of EvilClanInPower has learned of the false magistrates meeting (and the attack on the town inn) and has sent troops to search the area looking for the con artist, sealing the provincial borders and setting up random checkpoints on the roads. Our heroes learn they are trapped between a checkpoint ahead of them and a unit of soldiers behind them.
