Chapter 3 Synopsis
Our heroes are ‘trapped’ (troops behind, checkpoints ahead) in a small village which is terrorized by a bandit gang, unknown to them, they are under observation by Sumi-e Mage
This village is on a river that flows to the lowlands. MainChar plans on using the gang to defeat the soldiers, while the Mentor teaches and the Entertainers put on a play.
The Boy Prince falls for a girl at the tea house.
MainChar is frustrated by the criminality of those he is working with, the Entertainers are relaxing and letting their guard down, the Mentor is still in communication with the mysterious forces (the Kami), and the 2 Ronin are drinking heavily. Origami Mage begins to feel time is running out.
We learn that the Red Ninja are now somewhat out of favor with EvilClanInPower, but are still seeking the Boy Prince so they can turn him in and get back in favor. ( Intro the OldImperialClan’s (and EvilClanInPower’s) vizier … nemesis of Mentor, EvilVizier )
MainChar wants to manipulate the situation so that the EvilClanInPower soldiers take on the bandits and Red Ninja, who he has implicated as part of the criminal network.
But Sumi-e Mage attacks Origami Mage instead, leading to a very confused fight/flee scene as Origami Mage (barely) ’folds’ the spell out from under sumi-e Mage.
Some of the party (Boy Prince, Mentor, MainChar) escape to the lowlands, the fates of the others are unknown to MainChars group.
The Entertainers are forcibly hired by EvilClanInPower to entertain the troops.
The 2 Ronin escape to the hills, purposefully drawing pursuit.
Origami Mage escapes with CooksBoy and BoyPrincesLover (girl from the tea house [she is partly controlled by Sumi-e Mage] ).
