Chapter 1 Synopsis
MainChar is down and out in a backwards province, far away from court. While staying at a run-down old inn in the countryside He meets 2 Ronin, Origami Mage, the Entertainers, Boy Prince & Mentor. That night the Red Ninja attack. MainChar, several other ronin, and a few other characters defeat a well organized ninja attack.
In the aftermath of the attack, the Boy Prince and his Mentor are recognized by MainChar. MainChar and the Mentor strike a deal to keep the Boy Princes identity secret. MainChar hires (swears in?) several other characters (Origami Mage, 2 Ronin, and the CooksBoy) to help protect Boy Prince. MainChar also protects the secret of the existence of WhiteNinja, who he saw fighting the RedNinja attackers. Mentor is seen meeting someone mysterious (the Fox Kami).
Knowing the forces out to get the Boy Prince will strike again, MainChar fakes a move of the party to another inn that is more defensible in a nearby town. In reality, the Boy Prince and some chars stay at the original countryside inn MainChar, Entertainers, and Mage create elaborate illusions to create the image that they are stronger, while preparing to draw the attackers into an ambush at town inn. But the illusions of strength are too good, and the attackers take over the original inn as their temporary headquarters while waiting for reinforcements.
This leaves the Boy Prince in disguise as the CooksBoy, serving his own attackers with the help of WhiteNinja and Mentor. At the town inn, CooksBoy is acting as the Boy Prince. MainChar hears from mysterious source (the Kami, disguised as WhiteNinja), that the attackers reinforcements are coming disguised as a traveling magistrate.
Cut off from Boy Prince and Mentor and now desperate to get them out of the countryside inn before the attackers are reinforced (or the ruse is discovered), MainChar and the Entertainers go to the countryside inn in double layered disguise. First as a visiting magistrate and his entourage, but that disguise is meant to be pierced, revealing them to be con artists. RedNinjaLieutenant knows that something is fishy and pierces the first disguise, but is careful as the “con artist” might be able to help him get to Boy Prince.

Fox Kami goes against her clan’s wishes to tell MainChar

MainChar hears from mysterious source (the Fox Kami, but disguised as WhiteNinja), that the attackers reinforcements are coming disguised as a traveling magistrate.
