THE UMI TRIBE CHIEF

In a blink of an eye, everyone was gliding off of the ground miles away from the explosion towards the shorelines. It was almost like the impact of the explosion blew us backward. But for some reason we all we gliding in the same direction.

We all landed safely on the beach at the edge of the Umi Tribe. As we all stood up and tried to figure out what happened we saw a tall, dark man, wearing a large Hikari Tribe medallion.

He turned to us with a concerned look on his face and said, “Is everyone alright?”

Lucius said, “That was scary.”

Some of the veterans were clinching their hearts and Master Kim Lee said, “Does anyone have any spare adult diapers?”

Before anyone could ask who he was, we all were distracted by an army of men coming out of the ocean. As they walked forward, the water parted. It was the Umi Tribe Protectors. Within the crowd of protectors there were people that I recognized like Brodie and Steve, but there were also people that I’ve never seen before. Leading the army was the Umi Tribe Chief, Dawn Umi.

Chief Dawn walked over to the man who saved us, “What in the world is going on?”

“Not much, now. It appears to be over.”

“What happened?”

“I’m not exactly sure. I actually just got here. Maybe you should ask your daughter over there.”

The man said as he pointed to Juicy.

“She’s not my daughter. She’s my niece. My daughter is over there,” Chief Dawn said as he pointed at Princess Tuyette.

The man said, “Wow, That’s Tooty?”

Chief Dawn turned to him, “Watch it!”

The man began laughing, “Just as uptight as ever, huh?”

Chief Dawn walked over to Tuyette, “What happened here?”

Tuyette, still injured, said, “I’ll tell you on the way to the infirmary. Many of us need immediate medical attention. Please have your men take us there.” She said as she looked at Dan Siratchi.

Chief Dawn said, “Very well. The infirmary appears to still be standing.”

As Chief Dawn picked her up, Tuyette began talking with tears in her eyes, “You know how history repeats itself, well that Great War from fifteen years ago just happened all over again.”

On our way to the infirmary, some of us were being carried while others walked. There were a lot of people who had injuries, even the man who saved us was limping for some reason.

The Princess began telling Chief Dawn everything that happened. She explained how Kyro was secretly a Crimson Blood and how he manipulated his way into the Umi Tribe as a scientist. She explained Dr. Kyro’s relationship with Dr. Cyrus and how Kyro was even responsible for the previous war. She explained everything up to the moment that we landed on the beach.

Chief Dawn’s facial expression didn’t change once the entire time she was talking. When she finally got to the end of her story, we were all together in a large hospital room that seated multiple patients.

She said, “Then, Jack Findle exploded and we all would be dead now if it had not been for the Chief Kazan there. I assume he used that legendary teleportation technique of his to save us. We will forever be grateful and in his debt.”

Chief Kazan nodded and smiled.

I was amazed! At that moment, I realized that I was in the presence of two Shōkan Chiefs, and one of them was my actual father! That’s when I thought about what that old lady named Winter professed to me earlier, ‘I see royalty in your future… also see destruction…’, I was in awe.

Chief Dawn said, “So that’s what happened, huh? It seems to me that Dr. Kyro wanted you to call me and my troops here so that he could take us all down in those final blasts. You made a good decision, Tuyette.”

Chief Dawn turned to the princess, “Your story also explains why your men used my technique to transport themselves to our underwater city. When they arrived, they had their suspicions about there being an attack on the Tribe but none of them were sure.”

Chief Kazan stepped in, “By the way, how is that possible? The Hikari Tribe is the only tribe known to have teleportation techniques. How could your men teleport from a collapsing building into an underwater city?”

“My technique is not a teleportation technique like yours. It is more like a summoning technique. We Umi Tribe shōkans can summon water from any spot in the ocean. Just as you can summon heat, light, and radiation from any spot of the sun. When the transaction of summoning occurs, a microscopic portal is under our control. I’ve learned to expand that portal and reverse the summoning. Of course, it’s rare for one to master such a technique, that’s why I had Master Kim Lee to teach them how to execute this technique as a team, just in case something like this were to happen, and it was a good thing that I did.”

“So, instead of summoning water to your current location, you summon yourself to the location from where you normally summon water from. Which would mean that it’s a one way trip and that you couldn’t transport yourself back to where you came from.”

“You make it sound more complicated than it is, but yes, that’s right.”

“Okay, so that’s why it took you guys so long to get back here.” Chief Kazan said while smiling.

Lucius walked forward and bowed, “Greetings, Great Shōkan Leaders. I am the future Shido Tribe Chief. In fact, it was actually just made official yesterday. May I intervene? I have a question for Princess Tuyette.”

Chief Dawn said, “Go ahead.”

Lucius nodded, “Your Highness, why didn’t you listen to Corvi’s warning?”

The princess looked puzzled, “She never warned me about anything!”

Lucius looked puzzled.

“No, she never told me anything. Did she know about Kyro?”

Lucius froze in silence and began to stare off in space then turned to Tuyette, smiled and said, “No, of course not. I meant about the possibility of an attack.”

“Well, if that’s what you meant, then, yes, we talked about that often?”

“Okay thanks. Well, I have to be leaving now.” Lucius insisted.

Chief Dawn said, “Wait and rest here. Then, leave in the morning. I would like to honor you for what you’ve done for our Tribe.”

Lucius smiled, “I didn’t do it to be honored, Sir: I did it because it was my duty as a fellow shōkan. So, thanks, but no thanks. Although, I really appreciate the gesture.”

Chief Dawn nodded, “Then, safe travels to you, future Chief of Shido. By the way, how is your father?”

Lucius smiled as he was leaving and said, “He’s still as jolly as ever.”

As Lucius walked out, Kazan suddenly shouted, “Oh my gosh! I totally forgot about Herona! She’s waiting on me to report back! I left her in Mums Village to check things out here. I told her that I would be right back, but when I got here I ended up having to help out because of that explosion. I’ll be right back, You Guys! By the way, Chief Dawn, I just thought about this while they were talking, but you might want to invest in underwater radio transmissions. See you guys in a few.”

Before Chief Dawn could respond in anger, I interrupted.

“WAIT!” I shouted. “Were you talking about my mother, Herona? Herona Kumoi-Siratchi?”

Chief Kazan said, “Yes, that’s her!”

I sat up in my hospital bed, “How do you know her?”

“I’ll tell you when I get back,” he said as his entire body began to glow. Even his skin and eyes illuminated. There was a big flash of light, and he vanished. As he left there was a powerful wind that blew. Then, I noticed Dan, who was still unconscious.

Moments later, Kazan returned with my mother. They walked into the room through the door casually as if he didn’t even teleport earlier. When my mother saw me, tears of joy and relief swelled up in her eyes. She walked to my bed and hugged me as she wept.

She looked at me and said, “I was so worried about you. I’m so glad that you’re okay.”

Then, she signaled for Chief Kazan to come. Kazan limped over to us.

She said, “Kazai, I would like to introduce you to your birth father, Chief Kazan of the Hikari Tribe.”

My dad said, “I know I don’t know you very well yet but I am already very proud of you!”

“Thanks,” I said as tears welled up in my eyes.

It felt like all of my problems and pain melted away just for that moment. We all hugged as tears streamed from all of our eyes.

I looked at my mother, “Mom.”

“What is it?” She responded.

“Just so you know, bringing my Dad here makes up for everything that I’ve been through. Thank you”

She smiled and hugged me even tighter and said, “Is that your way of saying that you forgive me?”

I just smiled and hugged her tighter.
