THE MODE

Back in Gomorra City, the Dragon took me outside of the mansion into the courtyard. He said, “Watch me.”

He took a deep breath and said, “Shōkan.”

His entire body began to glow. He began radiating so much heat that the grass around him shriveled to dust. All at once his entire body caught fire. It was as if his skin and cells were all of a sudden made of fire.

“This is my FIRE MODE! In this mode, I’m faster than the human eye. In this mode, I have the strength of ten hybrids. In this mode I can defend against any attack!”  The dragon slowly pointed to the sky and released a stream of light like a massive laser outlined by fire. Then, he withdrew his fire mode and was back to normal.

I looked at his clothes, and they were not damaged at all by the fire. “How is it that you can do that, but your clothes aren’t even damaged?”

“Humph, I’m not sure.” He took off his mask and said, “I guess that’s why I was never burned by this metal mask.”

Words can’t possibly describe what I saw. I tried not to stare, but I couldn’t look away. It wasn’t until he put his mask back on that I could breathe.

“So are you going to teach me how to do that?”

“No, you could never learn to do what I just did, at least not as you are now. It takes time to master such a technique. Besides, your elements are heat and light. My elements are Fire and radiation. So, even if you were able to go into a mode, it would be completely different from mine. Your mode would probably be light mode.”

“Wow, light mode. That sounds pretty cool. Yeah, I want to learn that.”

The Hikari Dragon quickly said, “This isn’t like that sword trick that only took you one day to learn. This technique is on a completely different level. It may take you years to master. So, what I’ll do is teach you the fundamentals of the technique so that you can master it later on your own. So…are you ready?”

I nodded.

The Dragon shouted, “I said, ARE YOU READY?”

“Oh! Yes, Yes! I am ready. Sorry about that. I keep forgetting that you can’t see me when I nod my head.”

Back at the Umi Tribe, things were getting heated. The Crimson Bloods surrounded the collapsed protector station, and there were even a few surrounding the princess’ office. As the citizens saw the hybrids surrounding the station, they began to panic. The hybrids didn’t actually attack anyone, but their presence was enough to cause most of the citizens to run in fear, trying to evacuate.

Meanwhile, the princess, Dan Siratchi and Billy Woo were the only ones available to fight against a small army of hybrids.

“I can’t believe this! How could you? Of all people, YOU!” Princess Tuyette shouted.

The doctor just stood there smiling as numerous Crimsons began to surround them.

The princess continued, “This doesn’t make sense! You were the one that warned us about Dr. Cyrus when he was going to attack our Tribe 15 years ago! Why would you protect us then but attack us now?”

The doctor smiled, “That’s just it! I couldn’t allow Cyrus to destroy this Tribe! I wanted the satisfaction of doing it myself!”

Then, one of the Crimson Bloods ran towards the princess, jumping in mid-air to attack her. It was the same electric Crimson that was at the shuttle station the day Jack Findle was captured. Billy, who was standing beside the princess anticipated the Crimson’s attack.

He shouted, “Shōkan!” and his left arm stretched and punched the hybrid in the stomach pushing him backward.

While still in the air, the hybrid held tightly to Billy’s arm and began to exert electricity. Billy saw the lightning coming towards him so pulled back, and the water that formed his arm splashed to the ground.

Before the hybrid could land, Billy shouted, “Shōkan!” and a powerful stream of water came rushing from Billy’s right hand. The hybrid flipped and dodged the stream of water and landed on his feet. The water pressure was so powerful that it cracked one of the pillars, leaving a small hole in it.

“Calm down, Bang!” Dr. Kyro shouted. “Princess Tuyette, please excuse Bang. He obviously has no control over his impulses yet. Now, as I was about to say before we were interrupted, let us discuss the Umi Tribe’s surrender.”

“Fool!” The princess shouted. “Do you really think that I would surrender to you and a few hybrids? I don’t care if they are Crimsons: I will never surrender!”

“Princess, I don’t think that you understand your current situation. All of your reinforcements are already dead. The only way you could possibly stand a chance is if you call your father, the REAL Umi Tribe Chief.”

The princess looked at the doctor with a cold stare and said, “I don’t need to call my father. I have all I need to take down you and those disgusting hybrids!”

The princess looked confused, “Hold up. You’ve seen the power of the Umi Tribe’s main branch. Why would you allow me to call for backup?”

The doctor smiled, “It’s simple, defeating you is just practice. I really want to take down your father! That’s the only way I can reclaim the honor of the Crimson Bloods!”

The princess continued to look confused, “The Crimson Bloods? Why would you care about their honor?” The princess shouted.

The doctor’s facial expression became more serious, “I’m glad you asked. Take a seat this may take a while to explain.”
