Alexandra Welch sent an update for Grimalkin

Hello,

As one of my favorite denizens of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld would say, "I aten’t dead."

I’ve just been busy editing a certain someone’s novel in progress as they finish up the first draft before passing it on to their developmental editor. I also hit a wall with Grimalkin and my anthology. In fact, a week ago I was ready to give up. I went back to basics with a story outline, realized I had a solid plot after all (two in fact) and completed a new chapter after a months long bout of writer’s block. Chapter 2 is now up and available to read on Inkshares, and Chapter 3 is well under way.

Alexandra Welch sent an update for Grimalkin

I’m still having a hard time focusing on my own writing as the Horror competition heats up. My husband’s book, The Vampire and the Dragon (PrOOF vol. 1) is still in the top three, but third through sixth place have really picked up momentum. If you haven’t already, give his novel a glance. The excerpts are fantastic, as is the complete story.

Then I plan on getting back to work on Grimalkin. I’ve still been developing the story and characters, but the competition is my focus until the 31st.

Thanks for your continued interest and support!

      10/21/17

Hello everyone! Took a few days off after Launchpad to chill out, have a nap, and  let my brain regroup. Now that I have, I feel refreshed, refocused, and it is time for a new rallying cry:

      250 or bust!

My funding window is still open, and now that I’m free of the constraints of the Launchpad Competition, it now becomes all about the copies ordered, not about the number of individual readers.

Thanks to all of you, 165 copies of "The Devil You Don’t" have already been ordered. That means I only need to get 85 more copies pre-ordered to make the level for Quill publishing. That’s really not that many at all.

There are a few ways I can get there...

      • First, I’m going to keep sharing information about "Devil" and introducing it to as many people as I can to gather more support.
      • Anyone who is currently "following" my adventure here and hasn’t had the chance to order a copy, it isn’t too late. Take a chance, live dangerously, dare I say it... make a deal with a devil (Mara would love to talk to you): https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-devil-you-don-t
      • Already a reader? You’ve already ordered a copy for yourself, right? How about a copy for a friend? As much as I hate to say this in October, the holiday season isn’t that far away. If you want to order a copy as a gift, I’ll make you up a snazzy certificate you can give in lieu of the book while it waits to be edited!
I’m really excited about "Devil" and I’m determined to get it into production for all of you who have supported me so far. I’ll keep you posted on how things are going!

Have a  great rest of the weekend.

      Best,
      Susan

Hello! Well, we are certainly coming down to the wire in Launchpad and I think I’m going to have grey hair and high blood pressure by the time we’re done.

Right now, less than 20 pre-orders stand between "The Devil You Don’t" and that third place spot! So a HUGE thank you to those of you who have ordered and gotten me this far. WE ARE SO CLOSE!

I am doing my best to network and contact all of my prospects, and hopefully will see more orders come in to propel us up into that third place spot (or better!). Please, if you have not ordered yet, it would be a tremendous boost to have you become an official reader.

The competition will end on October 17 -- That’s in just a few days!

And don’t forget: If I’m in the Top 3 at the end of the competition, I will be doing a "thank you" raffle for everyone who pre-orders a copy, and the prize is a $100 Amazon gift card!

And speaking of raffles. I’m happy to announce that the winners of my first raffle were Tracey Bigelow (gift card) and Trinity McKay (signed copy of "Darkstar Rising"). And I just passed my 100 reader mark, so as promised, I’ve done the second drawing. The lucky winners are Karen Bradbury (gift card) and Jessica Hackett (signed copy of "Darkstar Rising")! Congratulations.

I’ll send another update before the competition ends -- thank you for your support and enthusiasm. You guys are the best readers ever!

        All the best,
        Susan
