I need 45 more reviews on Amazon to hit my goal of 100 reviews by the end of next week! Please take the time to rate and review the book! Rating the book without some sort of text does not work. It can be something simple like, "Great book!" or "This book suuuuuuucks." Seriously, even if you didn’t like it, review it! It takes you two seconds and helps elevate my status on Amazon so I can get more exposure and more sales.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, I really appreciate your feedback.

See you tomorrow Albuquerque!
Thank you to Adrian Gomez at the Albuquerque Journal for doing an article about my signing at Barnes and Noble Coronado in Albuquerque tomorrow at 2PM. I hope to see some of you there! Dear followers,
This is just to update you on the progress of "Everything is Normal." Last 2 months saw heavy developmental editing: the editor and I advanced the main themes and trough-lines of the book. That also included lots and lots of restructuring and writing 3 entirely new chapters.
But the most painful thing was cutting. We ended up decreasing the original manuscript by 25% or by 34,000 words. (This is more than the entire "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".) Ouch!
Now that this stage is over, copy editing will start. Also, designers have finalized the cover for the book (below). A lot of clever marketing has gone into it. Inkshares has set the official release date for the book for March 6.
I will keep you posted. And thank you all very much again for your support.
Regards,
Sergey
Autumn is here, and the cogs are steadily turning...
.
In my last update, I explained that the developmental editor and I were working on the rewrite 100 pages at a time. He edits one section while I rewrite the next... Well, I am pleased to report that I am roughly half-way through with the third and final segment. I hope to have that turned over in about two weeks. I’ve combed through and rewritten all of the existing text, and am now drafting a brand spanking new ending that will get the blood pumping a bit more than the original.
There will be at least one more round of developmental edits as I address the notes that Matt makes on the new draft. Each run-through should be swifter than the previous. After that, we move on to copy editing, then proofreading, then ARC printing and marketing. Cover design will take place alongside the final steps.
I am crossing my fingers that an estimated release date will be assigned once we have an idea of how long the rest of the developmental edit will take. My best guess is Summer ’18 (based on the trajectory of other books further along in the production process). If the last two months are any indication, I will be hard at work until the last minute (and after). As always, thank you for your support.
Until next time,
-Jacqui
Maya picked up her lunch tray and left, kissing her boyfriend as she passed him. Maya didn’t glance again at the girl James had mentioned earlier as she passed her by. Lindsay also didn’t glance at Maya when she passed by. With her big padded headphones and general demeanor it could be easily assumed that Lindsay was purposely unaware of the world around her. That wasn’t the case. Lindsay could hear everything. Lindsay was also listening to everything. Lindsay listened to the people. Lindsay listened to the conversations. Lindsay overheard to the relationships that the people were actively engaged in. Lindsay was an observer to it all. An observer but not a participant. An observer who wanted to participate but an observer who would not participate. Lindsay was an observer for that is the only role she was confident enough to play.

So. One hundred eighty days have come and one hundred eighty days have gone. The pre-order campaign for It Was In A Coffee Shop is over, and the result:
Six
Six
Just six.
Six
Six
Just six pre-orders of my book.
So, the pre-order campaign failed. Hard. This isn’t a situation where I believe I can redouble my efforts and bridge the small gap between my first effort and an effort that can succeed. I only achieved 2.5% of the low goal to get distribution through Inkshares. I can’t make up the other 97.5% by redoubling my efforts.

I could be angry at this point. I choose not to because what has anger ever gotten me? I could be morose at this point. I choose not to because what has being sad about something ever gotten me? I could take this as a sign that I am meant to be an observer and not a participant. I choose not to because being meant to do something denotes predestination, and predestination is something that goes against my atheist beliefs. What lesson do I take from this? The lesson I take from this is that Inkshares is another platform that hasn’t worked for me. Just another platform I have tried and failed at. I just need to find the platform that works for me, because surely there is one out there. There is. I know it.
So, how to go forward at this point? Well, initially I plan to distribute my work within my community. What that basically means is I plan to put a Dropbox link to my book inside the AllGames.com Community page on Facebook. As for the rest of you, you have one hundred eighty days. One hundred eighty days to wait. Wait untill I post It Was In A Coffee Shop online to a wider audience.

Friends!
There’s an alternate universe where I do things I say I’m going to do in a timely fashion and don’t pop up a month after my novel’s been published to check and see how everyone’s doing, but you know. Life.
.
In this universe, my father asked me how to leave a review, as there is no information as to how to do so on the Inkshares page. So shout out to Papa Dorn, for without him I would have continued putting off this update.
First off: if you preordered either an ebook or paperback copy, you most definitely should have received it by now. If you haven’t, please contact either myself or the good folks at hello@inkshares.com and we’ll figure out what the heck happened.
Second off: I know some of you aren’t wordsmiths, so even just choosing a number of stars and telling the Internet that you enjoyed the novel and would recommend it helps me out in mysterious ways. There’s an algorithm Amazon uses that helps make Devil’s Call more visible once reviews hit a certain number. My sources say the number is 50, but who knows.
Please note that you need to have an account and be signed in in order to leave a review.
