Robert Batten liked an update for The Last Faoii

Quick update, Faoii! Listen up!

Those of you that pre-ordered e-books should have them in your inboxes. Today I saw a screenshot of my name on a Kindle and it was one of the most surreal feelings I’ve ever had. I have YOU to thank for that. Thank you, Faoii.

I also really REALLY need some help before next Wednesday. I’m doing my first-ever reading and would LOVE to know what passages or scenes stuck with you. What would YOU like to hear out loud (I’ll even try to record the readings for those of you who can’t be at the launch party).

That’s it for now! But don’t worry-- I’ll be contacting you next week when Amazon opens up for reviews. The next wave is coming, Faoii. We will be ready for it. A year from now everyone will know of us. ;)

    Orders, Faoii! Listen up!

We’re 9 days away from the official release of our tale, and 10 days away from the launch party I’ll be hosting here in the beautiful Montana. I think we’ve earned a celebration, don’t you? This was a hard-earned victory, and every triumph is deserving of a divine feast and ever-flowing mead (or in this case some delicious cake and tea/coffee).  You’ve earned this, Faoii. Set your shields down for a moment and revel for a while.

However, don’t put your Fantoii blade up on your wall, quite yet. We’ve raised a worthy army, it’s true, but I told you in the beginning that someday the world will know of us. They will know of our army and our battle cries. No one can escape the Choir, but we’re not there. Yet.

You can’t post a review on Amazon until October 3, but we already have 2 reviews on Goodreads, and that’s a good start. As you read our tale, I hope you’ll be willing to tell the world what you think of it. Good reviews are the only way the word will spread (Amazon’s algorithm in particular needs a hefty number of reviews before anyone will see it) and all other reviews will help me to become a better writer. In the end, any review at all is going to strengthen our army. I still need you on that battlefield, Faoii. And I look forward to fighting beside you. This isn’t over yet.

Robert Batten liked an update for The Devil You Don’t

        September 21, 2017

        Hello!

Wanted to give everyone a quick update on "The Devil You Don’t." First is the not-so-good news. They announced the Top 10 list this afternoon, and unfortunately, Devil is not on it. I have to confess, I’m disappointed but I can’t stay stuck on that.

The better news is that--although I won’t win Launchpad’s Grand Prize--I am still in the running here at Inkshares. When last I checked, I was running in 5th place with about 2.5 weeks left in the competition.

And that means that every single pre-order I can muster up is going to count if I’m going to make it into one of the Top 3 spots. So a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has put in an order so far.

For those of you who are still thinking, your order can make a difference so I would love to see you on the "official reader" list.

        Chapter 3 is available now!

As promised, we passed the 30 pre-order mark last night and I posted the next chapter. Please go to my Inkshares page and take a look (you’ll find it under the Read tab): https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-devil-you-don-t

Next milestone is 50 orders and at that point I’ll raffle off a signed copy of "Darkstar Rising" and an Amazon gift card!

Thanks again for your support and enthusiasm -- I’ll update again soon!

        Best,
        Susan

Hi fellow authors. My contact at Inkshares suggested that I introduce myself and my current project on Inkshares.

I have been a writer for nearly 40 years and for the past 28 years of so I have concentrated primarily on the video game world, writing articles and regular columns, editing magazines, founding Prima Publishing’s strategy guide imprint and running it as creative director for its first six years, and also contributing to various games both as a writer and as a design consultant. I also spent a lot of time playing flamenco and classical guitar, studied fiction with Theodore Sturgeon, and currently practice the Chinese martial art taijiquan.

My most recent project covers Microsoft’s gaming history, from DOS to Xbox, in two volumes. These books took several years to write and are based in large part on interviews with 93 people who were directly involved in various parts of the story. Combined, Game of X v.1: Xbox and Game of X v.2: The Long Road to Xbox number more than 800 pages and include many original photos and documents ranging from the late 1980s to the early 2000s.

Game of X not only examines the historical events, but also the ever-changing culture at Microsoft as well as the technology that enabled both Windows games and Xbox to work. One of the most interesting aspects of v.2 are the stories of the Developer Relations Group, a unique team of highly trained, technological operatives who supported developers who used the Windows platform while simultaneously using Art of War tactics to sabotage Microsoft’s competitors. And still more interesting is when a small group of those operatives turned their skills and techniques inward to effect radical change within the company itself.

Lots of great stories, insights never before published, a colorful cast of characters, and a good dose of crazy from time to time.

Anyway, it’s nice to be here.
