Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for The Catcher’s Trap

Hello Catcher enthusiasts!

I’m writing to you from cloudy but beautiful Niagara Falls.

There is not much news about The Catcher’s Trap; we are still putting together the final design touches so we can send it to the printer. You’ll have a copy in your hands before November 8th.

In the meantime let’s talk about my campy and terrifying new project Bad Medicine: Slay It Queen!

Bad Medicine is currently third in the Crypt TV horror contest, and it needs your help to slay its way to the top. So please consider pre-ordering a copy and helping me make this novel a reality and, who knows, maybe a TV show.

Order here.

There are two things I’m doing to make this campaign fun. First, I’m working with several artists developing illustrations for Bad Medicine. I’m giving them little direction because I want to see what they come up with. This is the first one by the talented comic artist Bartolomeo Argentino.

Very Tina Turner meets Rainbow Brite. I like it!

I’m also giving readers the chance of becoming a character in the book.

Pre-order a copy of Bad Medicine, send me your drag-name and enter a chance to be one of the queens battling the hordes of zombies in New York.

Yesterday we had our first winner, and her name is Red Redwine!! (AKA Miss Christine Brennecke)

Red Redwine is a classy queen from Philadelphia visiting New York for a classic Hollywood convention. Red gets caught in the mayhem of this poorly timed zombie apocalypse while getting ready to perform a Bette Midler tribute.

That’s it for this lovely Saturday morning.

Have a great rest of your weekend.

    Dear Friends

The day has come for you to lip-sync FOR YOUR LIFE!

Just kidding. Today is the first drawing for a chance to become a character in the zombie/drag queen saga Bad Medicine: Slay It Queen!

But before we announce the winner I want to share a couple of things.

First, I’m working with several artists developing illustrations for Bad Medicine. I’m giving them little direction because I want to see what they come up with. This is the first one by the talented comic artist Bartolomeo Argentino.

His, interpretation is very Tina Turner meets Rainbow Brite and I love it! I love seeing how different people imagine my characters.

Also, Bad Medicine got a couple of shout-outs. Geek.com and Jenny Graham Jones gave some love to our drag heroin.

Here is what Jenny had to say “Talking about taking a tired genre and turning it into something fresh and new."

Read the stories here: geek.com, JennyGrahamJones.com

    Finally, the winner:

Red Redwine!! (AKA Miss Christine Brennecke)

Red Redwine is a classy queen from Philadelphia visiting New York for a classic Hollywood convention. Red gets caught in the mayhem of this poorly timed zombie apocalypse while getting ready to perform a Bette Midler tribute.

You’ll learn more about her in future chapters.

Pre-order today, send me your drag-name, and you may be a winner next week.

    Have great weekend friends!

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Earth In The Year 10,000

As most of you probably know, anthologies have been banned from all current and future Inkshares contests, so we were not allowed to submit this in the Geek & Sundry contest.

Earth . . . 10,000 will remain open for submissions until we receive enough quality material to fill out the book. This project will definitely be a GO and be successful someday, we just can’t predict when exactly that will happen.

In the meantime, we are supporting our friend @JeynaGrace in the G&S contest. Her entry, The Slave Prince is doing exceedingly well and is currently tied for second place!

We have donated 3 signed, low numbered. 1st edition, collectors copies of Journey, A Short Story in a promotion that Jeyna is running.

Here is a link to that announcement. Please consider supporting Jeyna with a pre-order of TSP!

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Squids In

Well guys, that’s it. SQUIDS IN has failed to reach its publication goal!

The good news is that every single person who supported this project by throwing down some cold hard cash will get it ALL back. That’s right, every last penny will be refunded to you at somepoint over the next couple of days.

Although the book will remain forever unpublished, I will be eternally grateful to those of you who showed support for this silly little distraction project of mine.

It’s strange that crowdfunding for SQUIDS IN ends on the same day that this piece of news is released: http://newworldwow.com/index.php/2016/09/09/scientists-say-octopus-dna-not-belong-world/

Take A Trip, Go On A Journey

’Journey: the act of travelling from one place to another.’ - the other most British dictionary out there, Cambridge.
(Keep reading; there’s a ’Journey’ giveaway announcement below!)

A town nestles in the valley of the North Mountains. If you set sail from Alpenwhist, you’ll reach its nearest dock in a month. From the dock, there’s a 3-4 hour hiking trail depending on your fitness level. Halfway through the trail, you’ll see smoke. It means you’re heading in the right direction. Eventually, you’ll come upon wooden planks, forming rickety steps by the slopping greens to your right, leading to the oak cottages.

Welcome to Daysprings! Unfortunately, there are no inns in Daysprings. So if you do swing by, it’s best to know someone in town.

Daysprings has a small township. Everybody knows everybody. During the day, you’ll find its people working the farms and gardens. You’ll see little ones playing on the dusty street, and old ones sitting by their porches crocheting. By night, the farmers will hand out unsold, but still fresh, fruits of the day. The children will sing under the ember cottage glow. And you’ll catch a waft of pie, both sweet and savoury in the air. If you head toward the tavern, waves of guffaws will wash past you into the main street, as both men and women end their day with a goblet of mead.

The weather in Daysprings is mostly pleasant. Some days, you’ll need mittens, while other days a boater. Generally, it’s a perfect Mid-Autumn’s day. There really is no need to plan a seasonal visit. However, being that it’s rarely open to outsiders, a day trip works best. Thankfully for Thom, he had Seanna.

Tip: If you know nobody from Daysprings and you’re backpacking, there are inns by the docks. Prices vary. Check Tripadvisor for reviews. Also, if you’re looking for a guide to hike the North Mountains, you could ask the locals. Some of them will take you up for as low as 10 gold coins.

          Happy adventures and safe voyage!

          (So I mentioned a giveaway, didn’t I?)

Fellow Inkshares author, Richard Saunders has generously offered 3 signed hardcopies of his novel, Journey, to the readers of The Slave Prince!

How awesome is that? How awesome is he? Thank you, Richard!

Here’s how the giveaway will work: since there are 3 copies, there will be 3 rounds. The first round is open to the next 20 people who pre-orders The Slave Prince. Be one of those 20, and you’re automatically entered into the raffle to win Journey!

The winner will be announced once Round 1 closes, and he/she will be contacted for shipping details. Upon the announcement itself, Round 2 will commence!

Yes, I know this isn’t like an all-expense-paid trip to Daysprings. But it’s still a... journey. And this is almost like a Buy 1 Free 1 deal! Almost. So stop contemplating and make your pre-order of The Slave Prince today!

(*For those who’ve pre-ordered before the start of this giveaway, don’t worry, Round 3 will be open to all.)

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for The Traveller’s Cup

It’s the Final Countdown, Space Crew.

This is the ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny. It’s the end of this campaign as we know it, and most of you probably feel fine. We’re so close, no matter how far. I’m...running out of relevant lyrics.

This Campaign is Ending in Less Than a Week.
Funding for The Traveller’s Cup will officially be locked down on September 15. That’s Thursday.

And while I know that seems like enough time for you to do it later, and you’re definitely sure you won’t forget—I’d like to inform you that today is your Space Captain’s birthday, and I’m turning old years old. So if you feel enough pity for me today, you can send your consolation in the form of a $10 e-book order.

I’d also like to remind you that at 300 orders I’ll be releasing a theme song. And well, that’s only 8 orders away! Plus, doubling that once or twice would be great if any of you can work some internet magic, so we can be fully-funded at 750 orders.

I Am Going to Can-Con Today!

I’m pretty stoked. Gonna learn about book-writin’, gonna meet some authors/agents/literary folk, and network with some pals I have not met enough in person. And the majority of this event is focused on fantasy and sci-fi, so I’ll be in some very good company.

If you’re heading there too, hit me up on Twitter @ac_baldwin, and we can chat or possibly grab a beverage nearby. I’ll also be giving out some TTC bookmarks.

            Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Thomas J. Arnold liked an update for Tantalus Depths

For today’s update, I’m featuring a story by an author that’s a bit more established than the others I’ve been promoting this week. Rick Heinz has already successfully funded a book through Inkshares: The Seventh Age: Dawn, and is a contributing member to the Too Many Controllers anthology collection. While my main purpose in sharing these updates is to draw attention to books that need an extra boost to reach an audience, I had to make an exception for this one.

The Seventh Age: Dystopia is the follow up to The Seventh Age: Dawn. It’s a high-powered urban fantasy story centered on the sudden jarring return of ancient magic to the modern world.

In Dawn, the world was re-introduced to magic. Supernatural creatures and forces poured back into the world, thanks to meddling shadow organizations and secret societies. Now, one year later, Dystopia brings us a world where magic is not merely present, but industrialized.

Greedy corporations, determined to turn a profit on a world-shattering phenomenon, have built a whole new industry on the research, development, and distribution of magically-infused products. Everything from experimental ability enhancing magical pharmaceuticals to Pegasus meat has flooded the market in a new and strange industrial boom.

But is there more to this new magic-centered economy than meets the eye? Just how much power do these secret societies hold? What greater ramifications will this new world show in time? I’m as excited to find out as anyone else. Please give Seventh Age: Dystopia a look!
