Nick Nafpliotis created a forum thread: Marketing idea I've enjoyed
First off, yes, this is partially a shameless plug for Snipe Hunt, my entry in the Inkshares 2018 Horror Contest.

https://www.inkshares.com/books/snipe-hunt-639c7f

Second, with my luck, it will probably work better for someone else--who will then proceed to rocket past me on the leaderboard (*maniacal laughing/uncontrollable sobbing*)

So like a lot of you, I started a Facebook page for my book. Also like a lot of you, the characters in my book are based on people I know. Being a teacher (and Snipe Hunt being a YA Horror novel), the characters were primarily based on my former students, many of whom I still keep in touch with.

Every couple of days, I do a feature on one of the characters in the book along with a bio of their real life counterpart and a few pictures (all done with their permission and help, of course).

This is not only an interesting bit of info for your current readers/followers, but potentially gets the subjects and their friends interested in the book as well. It’s definitely helped me gain a few sales--and has been a lot of fun.

*Shameless Plug #2* You can see an example of what I’ve done over the ’Snipe Hunt’ Facebook page :)

We’re a little less than a month out from the end of the Inkshares 2018 Horror Contest and things are looking good...mostly.

’Snipe Hunt’ is currently 6th place out of 90 entries, which is certainly nothing to sneeze at. Unfortunately, only the top 3 spots are locked in to be published. After that, though, they review every entry to see if something interests them--and being that far up the list definitely helps.

So if you’ve been holding off on snagging a copy, the window is closing when do so will help get it in your hands the fastest. If you have already bought a copy, then I hope you’re enjoying the pieces of my soul that I owe you. Also, any social media or word of mouth mentions are hugely appreciated!

Not only did we zoom past 100 likes today, but we also hit 25 preorders as well...which means a new chapter of Snipe Hunt is posted (and linked below)!

Thank you to everyone who has preordered already. If you haven’t yet, then a share on social media, some good word of mouth, or a blood sacrifice is still greatly appreciated!

When I wrote my first draft of Snipe Hunt back in 2014, many of the characters were based on actual students I taught (and don’t get me started on how terrible that made me feel whenever someone died in the story).

Now that many of them are all grown up--and still keep in touch--they’ve helped me create some character bios, which I’ll be posting periodically on the Snipe Hunt Facebook page.
