Book Proposal: Premise

Society is currently geared to an industrial way of thinking wherein we are all of us cogs in a machine, we are each of us made to fit in our own little place and yet - as cogs - we are easily replaceable. How can we belong somewhere and be replaceable? We can’t. We don’t.

The rising trend of entrepreneurialism and the artisan economy remind us that we - like the world we live in - contain multitudes and that instances of being backed into a corner are actually quite rare. We have a vote, a voice, a say in how we live our lives.

When we forget this our lives seem to happen to us rather than as a result of our active participation. When we forget this and refer to our grand vision as a “fairytale” we’re really saying that what we want is impractical, unrealistic, and childish.

Yet just as we and the world we live in contain multitudes, so, too, do fairy tales. Not everyone needs to start their own business venture, but a good look at Puss-in-Boots reveals an adaptive methodology for living one’s life one-quest-at-a-time and spending each and every day of that life living happily ever out there.
