III
Isolation
Are there any lonelier than the stars?
They shine so brightly,
but no one is there to hear them
they all glow in their own respects,
outshining one another,
until even their own voice is lost
just dangling forever in a void
a suspension of life
trapped in a vacuum
that saps away the light
and offers nothing
That’s how I feel as I wander about between worlds
It’s only my first voyage,
but I already feel an intimate kinship with the stars
a walk in space is a toil of years
no such things as seconds
or minutes
even hours
expand so thin so as to become decades
but trapped between it all is me
and the stars
wandering
a loose drifting
that amounts to nothing
but waiting
a desperate plea
waiting
for something
anything
to rescue us from this wandering
this dreaded isolation
as we all scream at each other
so terrified and mad
but making so sound
achieving no life
as all this time slips away
