It was fun to watch them beat up Xavier but I knew I couldn’t stay for the grand finale because I had something much more important to do. I had to burn down that old house, it’s where all of my memories stem from, and none of them are good.
I’m running through the woods careful not to go anywhere near the street because I know that the police will catch up to me soon enough. I’ve been running for about an hour and I can guess that Alex probably warned the nurse about thirty minutes ago. As of right now Alex is the only one who knows me at the psychiatric hospital it feels kind of lonely, I can’t wait to go back and actually meet the other inmates. I haven’t even met with the doctor yet. I hear the sounds of approaching police sirens and it jolts me out of my thoughts as I continue to run. The sounds are echoing among the trees as sticks stab into my bare feet and branches scratch my face and arms. I start running deeper into the woods taking a slightly different path in order to get further away from the police so that I can complete my goal. I finally make it to the clearing and take a deep breath when I find the house standing there. I quickly walk up on the porch to find the gasoline and I throw it all over the porch and on the door. I step down and strike a match before throwing it onto the first step of the porch and watching it slowly climb up the steps of the little white house. I hear the police car pull up the long dirt driveway and step back before falling to my knees just smiling at the flames. They let me burn the old man, everything is finished now.
“Young man put your hands behind your head!” One of the officers yells at me. I turn my head slightly and smile at them before turning back to watch the house get eaten up. I feel a blow to the back of my head and suddenly everything goes black.
When I wake up I am surrounded by unfamiliar sounds. I open my eyes and see that I am being wheeled down a creepy dark hallway.
“Where am I?” I question. I look around and see a few nurses rolling me but they don’t seem like they heard me so I speak a little louder. “Where am I?!” The nurse at the head of the gurney jumps at the sound of my voice and looks down.
“You’re at the psychiatric hospital. We are taking you to get your paperwork before you go to isolation. Hopefully you’ll last longer than the last one.” She mumbles the last part. I feel a small smile come across my face. This is so exciting. I get to have my own papers with my own name on it saying that I’m admitted to the isolation ward. I make sure to have a confused look on my face.
“The last one?” I ask genuinely curious. She just shakes her head with a sigh.
“Yeah. Those inmates are vicious. I thought they were all friends but I guess even friends get into fights sometimes.” She comments. I look up to see a sad look on her face. Emotions, how gross. Maybe she should just go crazy, it would be a lot easier to deal with everything.
“I’m sure I’ll be fine. I can handle myself pretty well. Maybe that other inmate was just really weak and annoying.” I tell her. She glares down at me. I shrug my shoulders as best I can with my wrists being restrained. I hear the metallic buzz of the door to isolation opening and I get rolled up to the window where the nurse is. My bed gets stopped in front of the window and the guards untie my wrists and ankles and aid me to stand. The nurse looks up at me annoyed.
“Name?” She asks. I smile at her.
“Tyler.” I reply. She writes down my name and a few other things before telling the guards which room to put me in. They lead me down the hall to the third door on the right. Xavier’s name is written on the whiteboard and the nurse wipes it out quickly before replacing it with my name. This makes me smirk as the guards shove me into the new room and I start to get myself situated in my new home.
