A Snippet from Chapter 10

Uh oh.  It was a simple message with layers of underlying meaning.  The A.I. had a problem, well yes, the A.I. had a problem.  More specifically the A.I. had noticed a problem, but it wasn’t going to say anything unless he asked.  He had known some girlfriends who were passive aggressive.  Some had even accused him of that character eccentricity.  But was it really possible for an A.I. to learn passive aggressiveness?  Or was Jocko just mirroring behavior?

“Jocko, stop saying uh oh.  It’s getting on my nerves.”

Ok.  Sebastian waited.  And waited.  Oh sweet mother of fusion propulsion!

“What is it Jocko?!”

I think we have a problem.  Pause.  Apparently the octa-beetles’ friends are coming for a visit.  Of course.  Why not?  Two have been so fun a couple more should be a blast!

“How many more are you detecting?” He asked with a heavy resignation.

That’s difficult to say.  How high can you count?
