Chapter 3: Castle of Death

The moon was out in the sky, and the many trees beside the long road stood perfectly still, and the leaves started to breeze away. Delphine of Moria gazed widely upon the giant castle that was before her eyes, and she knew what would lie ahead for her. It didn’t seem that difficult, but surely, it is death to walk at night as the demons roam the earth, and a Daedra rules the castle. Delphine didn’t care at all, for she fought the many creatures of the night for ten years and never slept at night, for she knew that she had to fight on. The people of Eastmarch knew that the castle had many dark creatures abroad both on the road and in the castle.

In this world, each castle used to have a king or a queen to rule over their kingdom and defend it with everything. Delphine walked on into the night to reach the large castle to fight and defeat the Daedra that governs it and sends out the demons to cause terror onto the people. Of course, the people had a wall to defend themselves against the demons; in fact, all villages and cities had a barrier to protect the people. And then, the moon started to be stained with blood, the wind began to roar violently, and a large group of demons began to face Delphine where she stood. Delphine pulls out her greatsword, and she started to fight back against the bloodthirsty creatures that were charging quickly towards her.

It is the time of the full moon. Yet no silvery shaft of moonlight dares pierce the thickets of this gigantic forest, this spider’s web of wood and vine. For demons are abroad this night, and they stalk human prey. What is more, they hunt it in the very shadow of the dreaded.

"Come at me, if you dare! The likes of you will not defeat me. You will not find me a cringing victim!" Delphine shouted. If the demons hear and comprehend, they give no visible sign, but circle ever closer to their chosen quarry; only to find that she strikes back, like a beast at bay.

But lots of courage will carry her safely through this ring of terror, as she swiftly learns. Delphine taught herself and trained herself on how to swing a sword, and she did it to survive the many nights that befell her as she was on her journey to reach the Grim Reaper. Delphine charges quickly towards the demons and swings her greatsword, and she began to kill every single one of the demons brutally and violently. The demons could not even block nor dodge the attacks that Delphine was throwing at them as she quickly charges towards them. She swings her greatsword as fast as she could and cuts off their heads, slices them in half, and she leaves them open in brutal and violent manners.

Lots of blood began to splatter all over the place, and lots of gore started to stain the ground that they were standing on. And so, Delphine continued onward towards the demons, and nothing else ever stood in her way as she fought on. But the battle was not over, because the night went on and blood continued to stain the moon. Delphine kept walking forward towards the giant castle that was before her, and the night continued. The people of Eastmarch kept the walls up, and the men stayed up all night to fight off any dark creature that would try and invade their village.

Delphine stood before the front door of the castle, and she starts to gaze upon it for a few seconds. It was a pretty old castle, and only now did it begin to gain control from the castle’s ruler. She did not show hesitation, and she opened the front door of the castle and walked inside. The castle itself was massive and well-structured, and the walls were still standing mighty and tall. For many years, the Daedra were the ones to rule each kingdom of this world, and these creatures took control of each castle.

Of course, the castles and the kingdoms were built by men many, many years ago, and they once ruled these kingdoms. But when the black Elder Dragon flew into the world and released all the creatures of the night, the Daedra came and killed all the kings and queens who resisted. And that was when the world was reminded of the fates that would fall before them, and they could never escape from those dark fates. And so, another group of demons started to charge towards Delphine as they held swords and axes in their hands. Again, Delphine feared no monster or beast, nor whatever form they appear to be; she would fight on until she drew her last breath.

Delphine pulls out her greatsword, and she points the tip of her razor-sharp blade towards the demonic creatures. The demons knew of the power that she wielded and knew that they would have to use everything in their ability to take her down. She uses her greatsword and starts to cut down and kill every last demon that stood in her way. According to her, the only way to live in this life of pain and torment is to survive and fight back against your enemies. It was the only thing she ever knew when it came to fighting in life; she moved on, even if it meant she had to draw her last breath to fulfill her destiny.

As she cuts her way against the creatures of darkness, so many body parts started to fly off their bodies, and the blood begins to stain the ground and the walls. She fought her way against the demons for ten years, and her only destiny was to search for and defeat the one that made her like she is now. The demons used everything they had to defend themselves against this mighty warrior, yet nothing seemed to work. Most of the monsters that stood before Delphine tried so hard to fight back against her and tried to cut her down. But she proved herself a thousand times over that she could not, so quickly, be killed by their power nor magics.

And so, the battle between Delphine against the group of demons was over, and she ventured forth into the castle. And as she walked inside this Castle to reach the throne room, the villagers of Eastmarch used everything they got to defend their city. One way or another, their city had to be supported with as much power as they could afford, and they would never stop for anything until the demons were driven away. Meanwhile, Simon watches as the demons come charging through the night fog that covered the outside world. He watches as the demons hold onto their swords and axes as they charge quickly into battle against the humans.

All the humans had to fight back; the demons were swords, spears, archers, and salt to fight off as many demons as possible. Salt was a demon’s most significant weakness and would kill them instantly if they were to fight back. And as the men defended the walls of the city with their very lives, so did Delphine continue onward into the castle to reach the throne room. She reached for the highest room in the palace, killing any demon or monster that stood in her way. She cuts them down like leather and left a whole trail of blood behind her and always came out unscathed.

It wasn’t long that the demons started to realize that she was the only person in the castle, yet managed to get so far inside of the place. She had only one purpose in life... wipe out the demons from the face of the earth and put her past behind her. Unlike the people of this world, Delphine was the only one who fought against every opponent that crossed her path and survived countless battles. She knew that she had to defeat the Grim Reaper to right past wrongs and to do that, she had to go and face hundreds of foes that would likely come to cut her down. And so long as she could make it out through those battles alive, she had to be focused on swinging her sword.

Meanwhile, as Delphine makes it through a few more floors, she sees a wolf spirit come walking towards her. His name is Rollo, the elder wolf, and the one who has seen all the things that the world had to offer in the days of old. His aged appearance made him more mysterious than he already was as he stood before Delphine. His eyes were red, his hair was white as snow, and his mind was as sharp as a blade as he walked the many roads of this world. And then, Delphine strolls towards the elder wolf, and to her surprise, the wolf did not flinch or react like any ordinary wolf.

"Welcome, Delphine. I’ve been expecting you," Rollo said.

"Who are you? How do you know my name?" Delphine asked.

"I know all. I am here to make sure that you complete your task, and to make sure nobody stands in your way. I am here to guide you," he said.

"Guide me? I don’t need anyone to guide or direct me. Move aside," she said.

"As you wish. However, what you do tonight will be with you forever. Your fate will be sealed, and there is nothing you can do to change it. I am sorry to say that you will be cursed because of what you will do. The darkness that you swore to destroy will consume your very soul."

Before Rollo could say anything else, Delphine pulls out her Bow and Arrow, and she aims and shoots at the elder wolf, but the arrow lands onto the ground a few inches before him. The elder wolf looks down and stares at the ebony arrow that he was almost shot by, and looked up at Delphine as she aims another arrow at him.

"I will put the next one between your eyes. I will hear no more from you," Delphine said. And after she said this, the wolf backed away slowly, and he gives her a final look in the eyes before he turns around.

And then, Rollo disappeared from Delphine’s sight, and he was gone from the castle; all she could see were a few footprints that the wolf left behind. Then, Delphine puts her arrow back into her pelt of ebony arrows and puts away her bow. She walks toward the shaft that was on the ground, and she also puts that arrow back into her pelt.

"That... wolf. Who is he? How does he know about my purpose? I don’t get it," she said. All she ever wanted was some answers from the wolf, not vague boasts that made her ask more questions.

And so, she walked on and delved higher up in the castle to find the one who rules the place, and put an end to him. She knew that the Daedra are the ones who rule the castles and sent forth their demon invasions to the villages. She knew that they are the ones that were the toughest and more challenging to kill than any ordinary demon. She knew that they are the ones who will risk anything to keep the castles under their protection, and made sure that nobody stood in their way. Even though anyone could do it, the people believed that Delphine could quickly bring it all to an end with her blade.

Finally, she makes it to the front doors of the throne room, and she gazed upon the structure of the doors. The Daedra themselves built the doors, and they were bigger and more powerful than an ordinary door. Without hesitation, Delphine opens the doors, and she begins to walk toward the Daedra that sat on the throne. She saw that ten guards served the Daedra, and each one wielded a long spear. Five guards were on each side of the large throne that the Daedra sat upon, and each one wore dark clothing and armor.

"Who are you to stand in my way, mortal?" The Daedra asked.

"I’m the one that has fought all the demons to make it to this place. I’ve come to put an end to this curse you released upon the land. I’ve come to finish you," Delphine answered. And as she spoke, she walked closer towards the strong demonic creature, and she did not fear him.

Then, the Daedra said to her, "You made quite a mess out there. Many have failed to bring me down, but you are the first in a long time ever to make it this far. Know this, the brave warriors who tried to fight me in combat died by my hand. Do you wish to suffer the same fate? You cannot kill me. You will die in vain, just like they did."

"We’ll see about that now, won’t we?" Delphine asked. Then, the knights of the Daedra prepare themselves for a battle against Delphine as she stands ready.

"Kill her," the Daedra said. And then, the knights of the Daedra begin to stroll towards her while holding onto the spears.

Then, Delphine pulls out her greatsword, and she points it at the knights who were coming towards her. One of the knights pierces the spear onto the ground and pulls out a daedric dagger and was ready to throw it. Delphine sees that this knight was not afraid to cut her down and come out victorious; he felt quite determined in himself to pierce Delphine in any part of her body. And so, the demonic knight uses his dagger and aims and releases the blade to let it fly towards Delphine’s skull. And to their surprise, Delphine deflects the attack, and the knife flies away and lands onto the ground.

And so, a battle between Delphine against the demonic knights of the Daedra begins as the night continued. One of the knights rushes towards Delphine and has his spear pointed at her face, and she blocks the attack with her sword. Then, she uses her greatsword and slices the knight in the stomach, the chest, and slices off his right arm. And finally, she stabs the knight in the face and the blade servers of the upper-half part of his head. And all of the other knights let out a roar and began to run as fast as they could against Delphine to kill her.

She ran towards one of them, with her sword in her hand, and blocked and deflected every single attack that the knight threw at her. And then, she uses her sword, slices off his left leg, and stabs him in the heart as more of the knights charged towards her. Yet another one of them tries to run her over with his spear and is unsuccessful as Delphine took hold of the weapon. Then she snaps the spear in half, uses the upper half of the broken spear, and stabs the knight in the chest as so much blood and gore splattered out of his body. Delphine charges towards one of them again and starts throwing attacks at a knight as he deflects and blocks them.

But unfortunately, she had the upper hand and slices the knight in half, leaving both sides of his body to fall to the ground. Then, she picks up the spear of the dead knight and throws it at the one who tried to kill her with his dagger. The spear pierces the center of his chest, and he falls backward, and Delphine was not afraid to take them all on. Then, Delphine stabs an already dead knight with her sword and pulls out her bow and takes out three arrows. She holds onto her bow, puts all of the three indicators onto her bowstring at once, and she aims and shoots the remaining knights before her.

The knights were lucky enough to block two of the arrows, but one of them gets shot in the face with the one black arrow that wasn’t blocked. Four more demonic knights carried spears crafted by their own hands and power. Delphine held onto her greatsword as one of the charges towards her to cut her down. Delphine blocks and dodges every attack that the knight used to his advantage, and she stabs him in the throat and slices off his head. Another knight tried to do the same thing to her, and she slides across the floor and trips the knight over.

She stabs the demon knight in the eye, and another knight rushes towards her with the spear in his hand. Delphine grabs hold of the spear, kicks that knight in the nuts, pulls his spear away, and she pierces him in the heart. And finally, one more knight walked before Delphine and carried a double-sided spear, and he breaks the spear in half and holds onto each half of the spear; he held each part like swords in each hand. Delphine held her greatsword in both of her hands, and she throws as many attacks as possible against this one knight, and he blocked, dodged, and deflected each strike that Delphine threw. And then, with all of her strength and rage, Delphine casts one more attack at the knight and makes one of the spears fly off of his hand.

Delphine uses her one hand, and she punches the knight in the face as her other handheld her greatsword. And then, she rips out the knight’s heart, and she throws the center at the feet of the Daedra, who sat on his throne and watched the battle commence. And so, the fight between Delphine against the demonic creatures ended as the blood moon continued to shine in the night sky. And then, Delphine walks towards the Daedra as blood and gore were falling from her sword and staining the ground.

"You’ve made it farther than I could have expected. I’m impressed," the Daedra said.

"Come down from your throne and face me," Delphine said. And then, the Daedra did precisely as she said, and he starts to stroll towards her and began to admire her strength.

Then, the Daedra said to her, "I was planning to pay a visit on those villagers. They didn’t have to send someone special to meet me. I say that because you hold a weapon far greater and powerful than an ordinary sword. In their desperation, it seems the ancient one has deceived you. Yet, I would know the name of the warrior who wields such a weapon."

"Someone who lives to put an end to the demons and their reign on Earth. You serve the night, you cause havoc and release the night hordes and murder hundreds of innocents. I know who and what you are... and you deserve a death only I shall bring you," Delphine said.

"So, you’re the one whom they have feared lately? That makes it far more interesting. Many years, I have ruled this kingdom and sent many to a better life. Surely, you can see that. However, I have little interest in getting to know my victims. I don’t know who you are... and yet, you are more interesting than all who came here," the Daedra said.

"I’ll tell you my name, right before I cut it into your heart. Now, fight as if your life depended on it!" Delphine shouted. And then, the Daedra pulls out his daedric greatsword and holds onto it as he stands before Delphine.

Delphine points the tip of her blade at the eyes of her enemy as he drew closer to her, and she was not afraid to face him. And so, a battle between Delphine against the Daedra begins as they both were forced to fight each other to the death. The Daedra charges towards Delphine, uses his greatsword, and they both start to clash blades with each other. He uses so much force and strength to back her away from him as his double-edged sword met with her double-edged sword. His sword was forged with higher power than a demon’s blood, and the color of his sword was black and red combined.

As his sword clashed with her sword, each strike was as if clinging metal with a steal, and it was an overpowering noise that sounded all over the throne room. Then, Delphine charges towards the Daedra, uses her greatsword, and starts throwing as many attacks as she possibly could. Her sword started flying and swerving all over the place as she was trying to send her enemy to his grave.

Delphine of Moria and the ruler of the castle of death continued to battle each other as the blood moon continued to shine.
