The room illuminated as I stepped through the threshold, this place must have motion detector lights. I followed Nichole into the walk-in closet and my jaw dropped when I saw all the fancy clothes and shoes.

“This closet is as big as my room.”

There was a knock at the door. Nichole rushed out of the closet over to the door, holding the door shut.

“Who is it?”

“It’s Lily.”

“I am getting ready for first meal, I’ll be out in a minute.”

“Okay see you at first meal.”

Nichole relaxed and pushed away from the door.

“That was close, I thought she was going to just come in.”

“Who is that?”

“Her name is Lily, she is my friend and a member of our coven.”

“This is a coven?”

“Yes, a coven of vampires and we need to hurry and get dressed.”

“You want me to go to first meal with you?”

“Yes, the best time to show yourself since everyone will be there together.”

“I don’t know if I am ready.”

“You can stay here in your room if you want.”

“Thanks, I just need a little time to wrap my head around this.”

“It’s okay just keep the door locked while I am gone and don’t leave the room.”

“Okay.”

I went and sat on the huge four-poster bed and watched as Nichole went into the closet and picked out what she was going to wear. She decided on a black dress with a long tulle skirt.

“That’s pretty,” I smiled.

“Thanks, it’s yours,” She laughed.

“Oh cool.”

“I hope you don’t mind, they keep your closet up to date for when you come back and your clothes are nicer than mine.”

“I don’t mind.”

She went into the bathroom to change into the dress, came back out and sat at the vanity.

“You look so pretty.”

“Thank you.” She smiled.

She pulled her hair up into a chic bun and put on some make-up. When she was done she went back into the closet and put on a pair of black ballerina flats.

“Bye, I have to go.”

“Okay, bye.”

She left shutting the door and I locked it behind her. Now that I was alone in my room I started really looking around, maybe I can find out more about myself from my belongings. I still can’t get over how big this room is, it makes me curious to see the rest of this place. My stomach growled I could smell all the breakfast food being made. I should have asked her to bring me back something.

Why am I up here hiding in my room when I am the Princess of this coven? I need to go down and reveal myself to them and let them know I am back. I need to get myself together, I thought as I walking into my closet. I reached for a red gown that looked fit for a Princess, I started rummaging through my dresser because I am sure I have jewelry somewhere to go with this dress. All the top smaller drawers held jewelry, tons to choose from. I checked the bigger drawers underneath and they were all filled with tiaras. I loved every single piece, they were all my style and silver.

I felt wearing a tiara would be way too much but I put one on anyway just in case I was supposed to have it on around the coven. I chose a diamond necklace, bracelet, ring, and earrings to go with. I felt awkward in heels but I want to try and appear older. I sat in front of my vanity as Nichole did. I did a quick fancy updo with bobby pins, not wanting to take forever curling my hair. The style actually gives the illusion of curls.

I put on some makeup, heavier than I normally would but I wanted to look nice and dressed up. Normally I just do some powder and eyeshadow but this time I pulled out all the stops. First I applied some primer than the base and powder. Next, I did my eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara and finally blush and red lipstick.

After a once-over in the mirror, I took a deep calming breath and left the room. I didn’t really know where I was going but followed the sound of silverware clinging and muttering voices down to the dining room. As I ascended the stairs I got a view of the coven sitting around the table. Nobody has spotted me yet, I had butterflies in my stomach maybe I should just back up to my room.

“Annabelle!” Nichole called, motioning me to come sit next to her.

Shit, I can’t go back now that I have been spotted.

“Is that the Princess?!” Someone asked.

“Yes, it’s her,” Nichole said.

The king stood up from the table and slowly walked over, meeting me at the bottom of the stairs. He greeted me with a warm smile, he was a tall man looking to be in his forties with blonde hair and hazel eyes. It makes a lot of sense now why I had parents with brown hair and I ended up blonde with hazel eyes.

“I’m glad you made your way home.” He smiled revealing fangs.

It was startling seeing them but Nichole did warn me earlier, I shouldn’t be shocked.

“So, you’re my father and the king?” I said looking up at the crown he had on his head.

“Yes, I know that this is a lot to take in.”

“Yes but I’m glad to be here.”

“Come sit down at the table, I will have a place set for you.”

“Okay, thank you,” I said.

He smiled and nodded.

I went and sat in the chair next to Nichole and watched as a lady with a black and white uniform came out and brought me a plate of food and a wine glass of mimosa.

“Can I have a glass of water please?” I asked.

“Yes, I will be right back with your water.” She whispered.

“Thank you,” I smiled.

I like to drink water with Alcohol and orange juice tends to make me more thirsty. All eyes were on me so I didn’t feel like getting into all that with the lady, so I just said it as nicely as possible. I wonder if all these people actually live here? Not that there isn’t enough room, I am sure this place has tons of bedrooms.

“ Everyone this is Annabelle, the Princess.” She said aloud to the room.

“I am glad to have you back home.” The king, my father said.

“Thanks.” I smiled.

“Hi, I’m Lily, it’s nice to finally meet you.”

“It’s nice to meet you too.” I smiled.

“Lily is really the only one you haven’t met already but since you haven’t gotten all your memories back yet, I’ll introduce everybody.” The king pointed.

“This is your brother Ellie, Jace, Rory, Gabriel and Micheal.”

“Brother?”

“Hey, Anna, it’s good to see you.” Eli smiled.

“This is going to take some getting used to,” I said.

“Normally you recognize him but after a while, I could tell you didn’t have a clue as to who he was,” King said.

“Hopefully, you will get your memories back soon so we all won’t seem like strangers anymore.”

“I’m sure they will come back to me soon.”

“It usually doesn’t take long.” The king said.

“You are the best at training our soldiers and with the Demons growing in numbers we need recruits and to train them for battle.”

“I train our soldiers to fight demons?”

“Yes, you always wanted to be a soldier but being a princess makes that impossible, it’s too dangerous.”

“So I have trained intensely to fight demons but I will never be able to use my skills in the field?”

“Wow,” took a sip from my water I hadn’t even noticed was brought to me.

Everyone started talking again and wasn’t focused on me so I started eating what was on my plate. Once everyone was finished we all said our goodbyes and walked out of the dining room. I am glad nobody is putting pressure on me to remember them or events in the past, that makes me feel more comfortable.

Once we got back up to my room I kicked off my shoes and changed out of my dress into a nightgown. I am not used to sleeping all day and staying up all night. Being in a Vampire coven is different, they start their day when the sun goes down. I wonder why I can be in the sun? I do burn easily and my eyes are really sensitive outside, I have to wear sunglasses.

“Why can we be in the sunlight?” I asked Nichole.

“Not all vampires can but some with special abilities can, like us.”

“I thought all vampires had powers?”

“No, just the ones that are part witch.”

“Oh.”

“I am sure you are tired so you should get some rest, I am going to go hang out downstairs with Lily and the rest of the coven.”

“Okay, have fun, I’ll see you later.”

I am so glad she didn’t want me to go hang out with them, I was so tired and didn’t feel like being up all night. I grabbed the tv remote off the nightstand and flipped through the channels trying to find something I have already watched to fall asleep to. If I put on something I haven’t watched I might get too into it and stay awake. I chose Titanic and then turned off the lights and got in bed, I can easily fall asleep to this movie, I have watched it thousands of times and knew it by heart.

I was starting to drift off when a dark figure appeared in the corner of my room. I jumped and brought the covers over my head, this place is haunted, a ghost is in my room!

“Annabelle, It’s me Baz.”

I slowly brought the covers down away from my face.

“You scared the shit out of me, how did you get in here?”

“I told you I would dematerialize to you tonight.” He laughed.

“Well, I obviously had forgotten about that.” I laughed.

I sat up in bed and wished I hadn’t chosen a romantic movie to be playing right now. He came over and sat next to me and I froze in that intimate moment. He remembers me so the close proximity probably doesn’t feel as awkward to him. I felt the urge to scoot over but I decided to just stay put.

“Have any memories of us came back yet?”

“No, and you don’t need to tell me about our past it will all come back to me soon enough.”

“I don’t like being a stranger to you.”

“Your not a stranger.”

I took his hand, “Tell me more about you, not us and our past.”

“I am a member of this coven and live here in the mansion.”

“Why didn’t I see you at first meal?”

“I was in the gym and lost track of time.”

“Speaking of food, you need to feed and I thought your first time could be from me.”

“No!”

“Vampire blood is stronger and might help with your memories.”

“I can’t do that.” I laughed nervously.

“Yes, you can.”
