Chapter Seven

Okay....”

you’re not only a witch.”

I’m not a witch.”

You are.”

I rolled my eyes.

So, what ELSE am I then?” I said sarcastically.

You are a vampire, a very important one.”

you’re crazy.” I laughed.

I can’t believe this shit she must think I am an idiot. She had me going with this witch stuff but now a vampire. She must be a pathological liar or something.

I can show you, tonight.” She assured me.

How?”

I have someone I want you to meet, we will have to sneak out to meet up with him.”

Sneak out, we will get caught.”

No we won’t and he will meet us half way to his house and walk the rest of the way with us.”

Who is he?”

My boyfriend, don’t tell him about Brendan.”

Okay...”

Let me do your hair and makeup.”

She had a floor mirror sitting up against the wall where she kept all her hair styling tools and make up. I sat down on the floor in front of her and let her get to work straightening my hair. When she finished she went over to her closet and pulled out a black leather skirt and a black fishnet long sleeve shirt.

The shirt is see through.”

You wear a black bikini top with it.”

She went to her dresser and found the bikini top to go with it.

Here, try it on.” Handing me the clothes.

I can’t wear this.”

Yes, you can we are not going to school.”

She shoved me out of her room to the bathroom and shut the door behind me.

Hurry up we will be leaving soon.”

I changed into the clothes and took a look in the mirror, I feel uncomfortable with this much skin showing but I kind of like how it looks. It reminds me of a girl on Queen of the Damned, she had gotten brought to Lestat’s castle to meet him and he eats her and some other fan. I grabbed my clothes from off the floor and left the bathroom to go back to Nichole’s room.

Her door was shut so I knocked just in case she was changing.

Come in.”

She had changed too now she was wearing some tight black jeans and a black and white striped long sleeve shirt that tied in the front and showed off some cleavage. Until now all I have seen her in are baggy jeans and band shirts.

You ready to go?” She asked.

Yeah, but do you have a jacket I can borrow?”

You don’t need a jacket.”

It’s cold outside.”

Ever since you were little you were told to get a jacket, it’s cold outside. That is why you think you need it but you don’t.”

That’s ridiculous, I’ll catch a cold.”

No you won’t, Vampires like nice cold nights like this.”

Stop with that vampire shit.”

The cold is all in your head.”

Fine, whatever you don’t have a jacket for me to borrow.”

Let’s just go.”

How are we even getting out of the house your window is too high.”

I just walk out the front door, everyone is asleep.”

Sounds like a bad idea.”

I’ve done it a million times.”

Okay.”

She went over to her bed and moved the pillows to the middle and then pulled the covers over to look like we were sleeping in the bed if someone checked in on us in the middle of the night.

Good idea,” I said.

Yeah.” She laughed.

She turned out the lights and I followed her out of her room, she stopped as we came up to her mom’s room and peeked in to see if she was asleep and she was. I didn’t even have to look I could hear her mom snoring, which sounded like a freight train. Nichole tipped toed to not wake her but I could tell she was out cold so I didn’t bother with that.

When we got downstairs Nichole turned to me and held up her fingers to her mouth shushing me. I nodded to show I got it and knew to be quiet. The only light was the moonlight shining in through the windows next to the front door. It was hard to see past the living room to her grandparent’s bedroom door but it looked to be shut. We starred over in that direction for a bit looking for any movement in the shadows.

After a while, Nichole wrapped her hand around the door nob, twisted and then slowly opened the door. It clearly needed some Wd40 but if you took your time you could get it opened quietly. It felt like an eternity until the door was opened wide enough for us to get out. She motioned for me to go first and followed after me, shutting the door behind us the same way, slowly and quietly.

Stepping away from her house and walking to the sidewalk.

We have to hide when we see cars.”

Okay.”

Unless you want to get caught by police being out past curfew.”

Don’t want that.”

We do have to cross the highway underpass but we will just have to do it quickly.”

Great.”

Sorry, I knew if I told you that you wouldn’t sneak out with me but don’t worry not many cars out at this time of night.”

This is crazy, my heart is beating so fast.”

It’s kind of a rush though, isn’t it.” She smiled.

Yeah.” I laughed.

It feels good out tonight, doesn’t it?

It is nice out and you were right, I am not cold without a jacket.”

It was all in your head.”

Weird.”

Told you.”

The neighborhood was so quiet and dark this time of night, no cars or people out. Everything gave off creepy shadows. Luckily we made it out of her neighborhood without seeing a car. We made our way up to the highway underpass.

We got past the hard part, told you no cars at this time of night.”

We were able to run across the highway and into the next neighborhood without seeing one car. I was impressed, I thought for sure we would get caught crossing that.

I can’t believe we haven’t seen a single car.”

Well, 2 am people are either asleep or inside bars.”

Yeah, apparently.”

We came up to the entrance to a bayou, “ We are meeting him in the middle.” She said.

It’s dark.”

I have a flashlight.”

She reached into her purse and pulled the flashlight out, turning it on and pointing it ahead of us. It was only a little pen light and did not only lit up what was right in front of us. She didn’t seem scared, I wonder why? This is creepy I hope her boyfriend isn’t running late and is waiting in here for us.

As we walked in dogs from the backyards of the houses were walking behind started barking at us and jumping at the fence, which was scary since I have heard of dogs being able to jump over those, particularly pit bulls. It’s not that I don’t like pit bulls, I just know how territorial they can be. Why couldn’t we have met at the entrance and walk all together through here? I would have felt way better doing it that way.

I was squinting my eyes trying to make out the figure down ahead of us.

Is that him?” I whispered.

I think so...”

Hope it’s not a Serial Killer.”

I am sure it’s him.”

I wanted to stop and wait for him to get closer because the more we walk towards the figured the longer we have to run in the other direction if it’s a stranger. I bet if it is a stranger Nichole would still want to keep walking saying it’s probably just another teen sneaking out to meet up with friends. Then we would be murdered or caught by a patrolling officer.

Screw this.” I started to go back.

It’s him, I can see him.” She grabbed my hand pulling me back around.

Are you sure because this is creeping me out.”

Yes.”

He was getting closer and easier to see, he was a tall guy with blonde hair. The closer he got the hotter he got, stop it Anna this is Nichole’s new boyfriend.

Hey, babe.” He said hugging Nichole.

Who’s this?” He smiled.

I’m Anna.”

Nice to meet you, I’m a hugger.”

Then walked up to me and gave me a hug that I felt lingered a little, hoping she didn’t notice that.
