A syndicate to support the young-adult writer community on Inkshares. If your book(s) feature teenage characters, this is the place for them! Self-nominations not accepted.
So, I’m in the process of cancelling this syndicate . . . unless one of you wants to take over leadership of this? I’ve just got a lot going on and, obviously, this has fallen by the wayside as an unfortunate side-effect.
As I’m sure your email inboxes will tell you first, I’ve chosen Catching Stars by @Cayla Keenan as our inaugural 2017 syndicate pick!
February nominations are now open and I’d love to hear from you guys again =) Also, any feedback/thoughts on one of my previous comments below about the funds we don’t use if a book isn’t selected for a month are greatly appreciated and requested. I’d like to hear from you before I send Inkshares an email regarding that subject . . .
The last few months, I’ve been an absolutely terrible syndicate leader. December proved to be another book-free month, and so one of my New Years resolutions is to stay on top of the syndicate like I should have been doing all along.
Does anyone know if the Inkshares settings allow a holding fund/refund for syndicates if they don’t have a book chosen? I know I was charged for this month again, same as in December, so I do think that is a thing to be fixed that we (accidentally) stumbled across. Anyone with me on this?
Anyways, we’ve got about a week and a half before the deadline to choose a January book, so let’s see those YA nominations!
So sorry for the accidental hiatus of mine! I’ve had some problems getting into Inkshares, but was able to hop on today to FINALLY set The Slave Prince as our October selection, so congratulations to @Jeyna Grace !!!
Due to some technical difficulties that I am in the process of sorting out now, the book hasn’t been officially selected yet but will be ASAP
Hi guys! To get the ball rolling for nominations for Oct, I’d love to nominate The Slave Prince. Its really grabbed me so far, and I think its a good fit for this group :-)
I loved Sparked, but wondering if the group gives more weight to books that could use the help to get to quill. I like the Slave Prince as well. I guess I’m looking at, is it more important to help someone or get behind the book that looks like it is heading to full print to have it as part of our group backing record? I can go either way, just trying to get a feel for the group.
What happens when the syndicate backs a book and then it doesn’t reach its goal, like The Last Faoii? Is it still automatically backed by the group when it tries again or do we need to re vote for it?
Hello everyone. Heard this was the cool place to hang out. :) I’ve been wanting to join since Tabi invited me a while back, but that money thing got in the way as it does in life. Anyways what do we do in here? Can I still nominee someone?
By most votes, our September syndicate pick is Sunshine is Forever by @Kyle T. Cowan!!! Congratulations, Kyle -- we look forward to reading your completed work!
I’ve only got one nomination so far for October: The Slave Prince by @Jeyna Grace because I really, really, really want to see this book succeed! Plus, it looks to be a GREAT addition to the YA world of Inkshares.
I second the 2nd nomination of Sunshine is Foreverby @Kyle T. Cowan - it is a really great example of YA on Inkshares and I’d love to see it reach full publication!
My other nomination is: The Slave Prince by @Jeyna Grace - I adore the concept of this and it’s another YA book on Inkshares that I’d love to see in bookstores everywhere =)
Thank you all so much. I am really excited and honored by the selection. I can not wait for everyone to get a copy! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
I want to nominate the other selection for September because it was so loved by the group in August. Sunshine is Forever by @Kyle T. Cowan is a great choice for this syndicate as so many teens deal with the theme’s this book tackles. I’d love to see it honored in September.
I’ve chosen I Am Waltz by our own member Matthew D Dho for our August syndicate pick! My reasons: it has 25 days of funding left compared to 90 days for Sunshine is Forever.
Congratulations, Matthew!!!
Okay, never too soon to start posting the nominations for September! And member’s books are allowed to be nominated . . . as long as it’s by a second-party. I’m really not a fan of self-nominations or deals to push a certain book. The point of this syndicate is to draw attention and awareness to the YA side of Inkshares, and that means spreading out and finding those hidden gems . . . alongside member books.
I know I am a part of this syndicate, but since my book was nominated I don’t know if I can vote. If I could vote I would vote for I Am Waltz. Which I think makes it 2-2, so it would then seem up to you @Tabi Card .
So, Sunshine is Forever is leading by one vote. If you’re all in favor of it being our Teen Read selection of this month, do let me know and I shall make it happen ASAP =)
Btw, some of the leading titles in the recent Geek & Sundry contest look very neat and definitely worth this syndicate’s consideration!
If I’m going to be considered for this syndicate I just have to join it! Besides, I happen to love reading YA/Teen novels, so I am sure everything this Syndicate selects will be right up my alley. Thanks for the consideration @Tabi Card
Now, the start of this group has been a bit shaky, but here I am back after a hiatus to try and get this thing rolling again. Starting with: August nominations! Step on up and submit the Inkshare YA books you feel deserve a shout-out and support.
Hopefully we can come to a mutual decision by the 1st week of every new month.
We have our first syndicate supported project! The Last Faoii by Tahini Nelson is more than deserving of this, and while (in my skimming-through of the posted chapters) I didn’t catch the protagonists age, in my opinion this work is one I believe teens will enjoy.
I know this first selection has been a shaky process (thanks to Erin for the nomination suggestion) so any advice/comments/critique is accepted. I want this to be a united syndicate, so from here on out please do not hesitate to draw my attention to YA titles you think could use a spotlight or two!
Still 7 members away from my preferred goal of 10 before making a syndicate selection BUT if you’ve got any books you know of that could use a little spotlight and support, now’s the time to drop those titles. DM me your choices, and remember that self-nominations will not be accepted.
Let’s show the world that Inkshares can publish great YA too!
You.
