I didn’t mean it to get dissolved .. but everybody jumped ship and whoever stayed is not actively contributing :-(   such a shame - the idea and intention was terrific...
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
I’m sorry this group hasn’t been as successful as some others.  It’s true, fiction  and narrative non-fiction, memoir style books are more popular in Barnes and Noble than on Inkshares haha. But we definitely gave it a shot and everyone has done so well with their books and projects.  I am so glad to have been able to interact and support some of y’all. I just wish we had more time and more opportunities to do more! I’m afraid I need to dissolve this syndicate.  At least we got to support 2 great books along the way.  Good luck to everyone and I’ll still be here on Inkshares, looking for books to support and relationships to build.  Good luck, take care and keep in touch!
Joni Dee · Author · edited almost 8 years ago
@Kacie Davis Idol Kacie, as much as I love this syndicate’s concept and you personally, the participation level here is low and declining... Plus, there are hardly books to support :-(  though i appreciate what you are doing, and i dont want to abandoned ship quite yet, but unless we get some new blood, i’m already spending a lot on inkshares per month with my campaign as it is, and would have to bail on you too.... sorry.
Ronald D Valle · Reader · added almost 8 years ago
Hey folks, I’m afraid a recent move and other circumstances require me to cancel my membership at this time. I hope it won’t be too long before I can rejoin you all. Keep fighting the good fight!

Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
thanks Kacie. Since we are there, I wanted to nominate "The Birds Road" by @Sharek Gadd , autobiographical novel with excellent writing. Sharek and I chatted and he doesn’t have a strong social network presence - I think we can give him a boost and also personally help spread the word and get him to Quill.
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Hey y’all, I know it’s a little early in the game to start thinking about a July syndicate book but I just wanted to throw some attention at @Jeremy Hill . I followed his project 10 months ago and he’s been learning Inkshares, following people and their projects and working hard on his fiction novel and just launched it last night. I think it sounds pretty cool. I hope y’all check him out and his novel, Nowhere Man.  And Jeremy, good luck in the preorder game and I hope you check out our syndicate and consider joining!
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Ok everyone...blunder sorted ;) congrats to @Peter Ryan xxo!
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
While Kacie is sorting out this blunder of backing the wrong book, @Peter Ryan wanted to send his thanks:

Could you tell the syndicate how unbelievably awesome I think their support is and tell them thanks so much. I can’t comment directly on the board.

Thanks,
Peter

Really liked it though personally was waiting for her to kill James ... thriller’s my style - could u tell?  :^P

@Joni Dee sorry friends, I’m crazy today...just kidding, I’m always like this... I already emailed Jeremy to make the switch! Thanks y’all, hope you’re having a great week! P.S. I’m doing an TWITTER TAKEOVER TODAY on Inkshares twitter page if y’all tweet or anything ;) Today is my books official publish date so many many thanks to y’all for your help and support getting here today. I know we can all relate
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Kacie Davis Idol  hey Kacie - you accidentally got the wrong book,,,, was meant to be Destiny imperfect -  could u contact Jeremy(at)Inksahres.com to correct it ?
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Great thanks for accepting! I will shamelessly nominate my own fiction book next month if nothing else comes along... also please check out @Ginger Pennington ’s draft for Stolen Santa Monica , may prove promising.
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Peter Ryan the majority has spoken and we would like you to be our syndicate choice for the month of June. We are a "fiction" group but that doesn’t mean we can’t support any talented writer! Congratulations on a great novel, Peter and we wish you the best! Feel free to check out our syndicate and tell your friends ;) we will now contribute our monthly $$ to purchase of your book!

Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Kacie Davis Idol Kacie, we need to select a book for June.... two names have been dropped so far
Ronald D Valle · Reader · added almost 8 years ago
Would definitely recommend Peter Ryan’s book too. He’s a great guy and may not fit the theme of the syndicate perfectly, but if nothing else comes up would be a cool way to help out a much deserving dude.
Joni Dee · Author · edited almost 8 years ago
I actually wanted to suggest giving @Peter Ryan some needed tail wind for the new contest. Destiny Imperfect. Neither this nor Chris’s book is in the spirit of this syndicate, and while Chris is a close friend and I would love to promote him here too, he still has a lot of time for the campaign, we can jump in later to support his brilliant book. Peter is on the other hand facing 15 monumental giants.
Tabi Card · Author · added almost 8 years ago
A more classic literature feel piece of work is @Christopher Huang’s Murder at the Veteran’s Club, which is definitely more of a "pure fiction" style of work . . .
Just my ten cents.
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
I really have no idea what to back for June... this community is not very big on pure fiction, no is it?
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Happy Memorial Day!!!
Thank you very much @Joni Dee I appreciate that! I’m excited for you and the progress on your book as well!
As far as syndicates and book picks go, I don’t consider myself a leader just because I came up with a name for a group but I do feel that everyone and every book deserves some attention whether they’re the new kid on the block or if they’re a seasoned game player following all the right people. Learning inkshares is definitely a process and I really think we should support each other and give advice to those learning the ropes.
I’m always down to check out a new book or one just orders away from their goal.  June is just around the corner! ;)
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
I’ve officially started reading "The Tulip Factory" by @Kacie Davis Idol  - i promise to review it on Goodreads/Amazon when i’m done
Ronald D Valle · Reader · added almost 8 years ago
I hear ya Joni, I think most people are really just looking for leadership when it comes to syndicate nominations. Most of the time people are too busy with their own campaign to go searching around and finding cool things to support, so when someone, especially the Big Man, steps in and says "this is cool," I think everyone just kinda breathes a sigh of relief and follows along.

I think you are right in that there is something potentially dangerous about nominating a book right off the bat, but I haven’t been here long enough to test my hypothesis. And then there’s the added complication of putting rules on the nom process (do we only nom almost-quill, post-quill, funded camps?). Does the syndicate work best with strict guidelines or should it just support anything that excites the members and meets the stated goal of the group? Who can say...
Joni Dee · Author · edited almost 8 years ago
Jeremy and the CEO syndicate supported a book, that just started, now imagine u r new - u r getting 40 orders out of no where, u think you have it made- orders will come from heaven and I needn’t do anything... I didn’t like this move, especially when it was supported from the same people that said they won’t support a book far from QUILL/FULL inkshares when my book was suggested to them.... I guess opinions change quickly when alpha male says something.... :(
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
again, let’s not make the mistake of supporting someone new that we don’t know how well invested he will be in this.. Charles and I exchanged a few DM. he seems like a great kid - but i’ll hold on or our support, till we see he’s generating orders himself, and is committed.
Caroline Reber · Author · added almost 8 years ago
I haven’t seen it before but I love the description! Maybe our next book to support?:)
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
yeah i’m following it too
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Just discovered a new book thanks to @Billy O’Keefe . It’s called Dirt Face and the author is @Charles Moore . Very cool young adult novel with real life events and experiences most people can relate to. Love that! I told Charles about our syndicate so hopefully he checks us out :) Have a wonderful Friday!!

Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Tabi Card I am so glad you’ve joined us! I’ve been keeping up with your project updates so I really hope everything is going well with that. I hope that we can get 3 more members by June so we can make noticeable marks on these new book campaigns!
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Caroline Reber welcome to the fiction syndicate world and congrats on your novel AND being the pick of the month! We are definitely hoping to expand our less than popular genre on this website haha! And @Kyle James way to kill those preorders Saturday night!! Congratulations, author!
Kyle James · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Hey guys, sorry for the hiatus...I had a rollercoaster of a weekend... First and foremost, I appreciate the support @Joni Dee @Ronald D Valle @Kacie Davis Idol ! I hope you guys enjoy the book.

I took a look at @Caroline Reber ’s book and it looks absolutely awesome.  You have my vote!

Cheers, friends!

Caroline Reber · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Hi everybody! Firstly, a big thanks to @Kacie Davis Idol for the initiative to this group, even though I’m a bit late to join. Secondly, a big thanks to all of you @Kyle James @Joni Dee  @Ronald D Valle  and @Bob Almada for considering my book Life Happened. So much have happened and I will send up updates shortly!
I’m excited to be a part of this syndicate- let’s find new exciting authors together!

Ronald D Valle · Reader · added almost 8 years ago
Firstly, huge congratulations to @Kyle James ! What you pulled off last week is nothing short of miraculous. Kudos dude, hope you’ve got a day of relaxation lined up.

To your point Joni, I understand where you’re coming from and find your reticence prudent. Being pretty new here, I don’t have the eyes for who’s got the gumption to succeed yet, and I think you raise good points. Besides, it’s a 3 month campaign, if we like where things are going next month, we can still shuttle our votes to her. @Caroline Reber ’s book is incredible, and 50 bucks is a fair amount of orders. I’m game.
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
guys, if u have any credits please consider spending it on Beyon the code @Kelsey Rae Barthel  - she is nearly QUILL let’s help her. here’s my referral - https://www.inkshares.com/books/beyond-the-code?referral_code=d9c1458b ..

regarding "going home" - it’s too early in its campaign for us to step in. I fear that some authors aren’t taking it too seriously, or don’t understand that inkshare with all the good will, hasn’t got enough people still in order to start campaigning unprepared. While Natasha seems talented - why hasn’t she followed other authors? why isn’t she nagging me to peorder? it’s all too "green" for it to get a syndicate vote in my opinion. maybe if she picks it up.

Sadly, for our first pick i do not see any worth pure fiction book, which is not a part of a certain genre. let’s give pur vote to Caroline’s inspiring book @Caroline Reber  - even though i rather in the future support books that havn’t made it yet.
Ronald D Valle · Reader · added almost 8 years ago
I just checked it out and think it’s really cool! I’d put my vote in for it. Starting out with a syndicate recc could hopefully give her some early momentum
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Hey again. I just stumbled upon a "young adult" draft called Going Home by @Natasha Maughan and I really really like the concept as well as the first chapter. @Jeremy Thomas sent out a recommendation and I just got home from work to check it out. What do y’all think for a syndicate pick?? Also, maybe Natasha will wanna join in this group..! May is approaching quickly!
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Ok y’all, the PINK coin is in place. Thanks @Joni Dee very fun!

So I have literally been browsing books every night trying to find one that isn’t already funded or more than just a draft. I’ve come across a couple mysteries and romance novels. I might have 2 more suggestions but please feel free to throw one out there.

And just a fun "homework assignment" because I’m sure we all just have so much extra time on our hands **sarcasm** ...maybe we could all message like 1 or 2 people about joining our syndicate? Just so we don’t die out!
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
i just got the recommendation.. worked on that ALL DAY (i’m a very poor programmer).. but i m getting LIKES not ORDERS :(
Kyle James · Author · added almost 8 years ago
I love the tactic. Simplify the process for the readers. Wish I would have done that my friend!
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Kyle James many thanks! yeah i downloaded the Kacie Idol masterpiece on Sat.. as u see below in my poor picture :)   checkout my call to action link http://goo.gl/zhbDnI tell me what u think - Kickstarter tactics really.
Kyle James · Author · added almost 8 years ago
I agree. Well done @Joni Dee ! I do appreciate the support @Ronald D Valle ! Hopefully he will enjoy it my friend. I just downloaded the Tulip Factory as well, what a time to be alive.
Ronald D Valle · Reader · added almost 8 years ago
I like the pink one! It’s cool and stands out.

I’m glad you like We Clocked the T-Rex @Kyle James , your book is awesome and I’m trying to whip up a few orders. I recc’ed it and think it’s the kinda thing my brother should have on his shelf...
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
ok folks. that’s the best i could do with my limited time.
@Kacie Davis Idol if everyone likes it please save to your desktop one of the versionsand apply it to the emblem above (edit details).
cheers!

Kyle James · Author · added almost 8 years ago
I apologize for falling off the face of the earth the last couple days. Huge solar issues in the south so work has been crazy! I agree with @Ronald D Valle (whose book premise I love by the way)... The coin looks awesome! I have been so busy with this final push the last couple weeks that I have not taken enough time to look deeply into other books that fit our missions of endorsement. I can be easily convinced though!

Ronald D Valle · Reader · added almost 8 years ago
I gotta say that coin is pretty cool and almost too good an opportunity to pass up. Considering that I haven’t come up with any cooler ideas I could lend my vote to it.

As for our first book,  I’m afraid I haven’t really had the time to explore what’s being offered out there. I will say though that I would prefer to support a book that is still funding. I think that is a powerful message of encouragement to the author and our emblem on their page could be just the kind of endorsement that pushes a viewer to become a reader.
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
also another suggestion to the emblem - i remembered my sweet Canada home (where i haven’t visited in a decade now!) had this on a coin. google helped finding it... I can smudge off the "Canada" in photoshop and add color of some sort.
I don’t know why i m "locked" on coins. maybe because of the default emblem. guys - feel free to suggest other stuff!
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Kacie Davis Idol the Question is whether we support books that have made it, or use our (still low) numbers for books that we can push towards the goal ?
With lack of enough romance/fiction/non SciFi & Fantasy books around, i’d say we can still push books that have already made it, while if we have a contender who’s still funding - he should get some precedence.
I have ordered both books below, both worthy, but between them i’d have to chose @Caroline Reber , just because i’ve spoken to her personally and i think she has an amazing inspiring novel.

Regardless. I wanna share this exciting thing and excuse my poor webcam - at 6am London time while the baby won’t stop talking and wouldnt let us keep on sleeping :)
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
.....not sure if I was supposed to tag them in that last comment or not  *cricket sounds*
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
Hey guys! I wanted to throw out a couple suggestions for our first book... The first is Life Happened by@Caroline Reber and the other is Women Like Us by @Jason Pomerance
Please weigh in with your thoughts on these 2 and also I would love to hear other books y’all have discovered. Thanks and Happy Friday!!
Joni Dee · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Kacie Davis Idol  thanks Kacie, will give it a think. meanwhile - any mainstream suggestions for our May pick?
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added almost 8 years ago
@Ronald D Valle @Kyle James I also like the idea of standing out! Something that stands out but that doesn’t completely "define" us as a genre and as a group of readers/authors! @Joni Dee any thoughts? Sorry for the delayed response on here! @Bob Almada thanks for joining the group and feel free to say hello or chime in on anything...! Books, syndicate themes, mango martini recipes, anything!
Ronald D Valle · Reader · added almost 8 years ago
I like the idea of sticking out. They should be able to see it and go, oh yeah, that’s the Love of Fiction Syndicate. The coins start to blend together for me. Just my two cents.

Kyle James · Author · added about 8 years ago
@Joni Dee I definitely agree! The coin idea would be great. To play devil’s advocate early on in our syndicate :), if it the theme for most syndicates, maybe we should stand out!! Either way, I like the coin idea.

We do not yet have kids, no! But I like that idea, I was thinking of ways to continue as we are DEFINITELY going to keep traveling, and writing is a therapeutic way for me to handle the stresses of long-term travel!
Joni Dee · Author · added about 8 years ago
@Kyle James let’s think about something else then.. i like the coins idea as it is a theme for most syndicates, but doesn’t have to be.

by the way i just finished reading all your chapters and excerpts, really love it. how about a sequel - do u guys have kids? could be interesting if u do :) thinking about the trips i’ve done as a single/kids-free couple, and going now to the park with the two is a genuine mission... lol
you will need to find a decent publisher willing to sponsor such a thing though i guess!
Kyle James · Author · added about 8 years ago
I couldn’t agree more Kacie! I think as far as the Inkshares platform goes, "Mainstream" is the minority! These books are the underdogs!

@Joni Dee I like the idea of the romantic coin although do you think that just limits us to romance? I don’t necessarily think it does, just want to make it epic!

Joni Dee · Author · added about 8 years ago
@Kacie Davis Idol any idea’s for an emblem? i thought a romantic coin, but i am willing to design anything u guys think of.
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added about 8 years ago
This is awesome, thank you all for joining! I think this syndicate deserves more attention than it’s getting. I know the word "mainstream" carries negative connotations but thats just unfair... We are the storytellers and the dreamers who have come up with a story so relatable, something so attainable, that its impossible to ignore. They gotta read it because they NEED to know there’s a chance for themselves. That’s why this syndicate is amazing and y’all are amazing! Lets get 10 members!
Joni Dee · Author · added about 8 years ago

Ronald D Valle · Reader · added about 8 years ago
Hey guys, thanks for letting me in on the fun. I’ve been a little too busy getting my campaign started to stop and smell the books around town that are representing these genres.  I hope to scent ’em soon!
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added about 8 years ago
Hello! Slowly but surely we will try to build up this syndicate. I would love to get enough members to really be able to have a positive influence on these new authors and their minty fresh novels! Which books have captured your fancy recently??
Joni Dee · Author · added about 8 years ago
@Ronald Valle welcome mate!
Joni Dee · Author · added about 8 years ago
I’m game
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added about 8 years ago
Although this is a "Fiction" syndicate, it is not only for fiction books. We will also be looking at true-to-life stories, memoirs, narratives, realistic fiction and non-fiction! This doesn’t seem to be a huge category on Inkshares so I would love to see more of your stories and lets band together to make them known!
Kacie Davis Idol · Author · added about 8 years ago
There are so many more books of this genre popping up on Inkshares, which makes me pretty excited! I’m hoping to get authors and readers talking more about it! There are quite a few Inkshares projects and new books I’ve been looking at that I would like to promote. Please feel free to message or email me with any questions or ideas! Thanks, everyone!
