Amanda Orneck liked an update for A God in the Shed

Hey there!

So much news, but we’re gonna keep it efficient!

  • The manuscript for A God in the Shed has been sent to Inkshares. It’s in the hands of editors right now. This is the Dark Times. The days when I worry that my editor won’t like my story. It’s always more fun/better when the editor likes the story.
  • Working feverishly on Arch-Android. I ; love working in this world again! Going back to the partial draft after so long I’ve decided on a few minor changes that have exploded into huge shifts in characters and plot lines and it’s simply the most awesome time working on it. Arch-Android is so much fun to work on. If it’s half as entertaining to read as it is to write I think you, my friends, will love it.
  • Arch-Android is the sequel to The Life Engineered. If you haven’t read this first book in the series I highly recommend that you do and, good news(!), the price for the digital version has been cut. 3.99$ will get you a DRM free eBook of The Life Engineered. You can have the future of humanity in your hands for less than a cup of coffee from a trendy barista.
  • IMPORTANT: In 8 tiny little days, the Nerdist Video Games Contest will be over. Not just that but so will the pre-order period for Too Many Controllers. I will have a story in this anthology and I’m honoured to be alongside 14 other awesome and talented writers. You do not want to miss out on this. Check it out and pre-order your copy today.

That is all for now. As always, you’re all the best people in the world for being so supportive. Not only have I found amazing readers in you, but also a great community that I’m proud to call friends.

I remain, as always, your humble servant,

JF

Amanda Orneck liked an update for In Beta

Today, I hit the motherload of endorsements.

"Prescott is one brilliant dude, and I cannot wait to see what he cooks up, in any medium!"

    - JJ Abrams

Yes, that actually showed up in my inbox earlier this afternoon. I am incredibly flattered and more than a little shocked. What a vote of confidence!

There are just days left in the contest, and the pressure is building. Please share this exciting news with social networks, and help me make IN BETA a thing!

Those of you still lingering in the shadows of our grand enterprise -- now is the time to step into the liiiiiiiighttttt......short of you waiting for the day when I just read you the book directly from my Google Drive folder, this is the easiest/cheapest way to read AMOD that has appeared on this branch of the time stream.

Amanda Orneck liked an update for Are You Sure You Want to Quit?

        Hello all!

There are only 9 DAYS left in the contest and things are already shaking up. Although I’m still in 2nd place, Peter Ryan’s excellent Destiny Imperfect is creeping up the ladder (only 5 behind me!). I wish there was room for all three of us, but there are only 2 spots up for grabs. I am asking each and every one of you to pre-order a copy if you haven’t done so already or to help spread the word. If you know somebody that likes video games and dragons, chances are they’ll enjoy AYSYWTQ?

As a remind, those who pre-order will receive a FREE short story titled "Mother of All," in addition to a FREE digital painting. I worked very hard on AYSYWTQ? and I want nothing more than to see this story published one day.

Let’s make sure Maggie defeats Amasarok once and for all ;) Thank you.

        Best,

        アリサちゃん

Amanda Orneck liked an update for Blue Water

          Hello everyone,

The campaign to get Blue Water published is now officially 24 hours old, and we’re sitting at 3% of our goal in just one short day.  If we keep this pace up, we’ll be doing just fine.

Please pre-order Blue Water and help us spread the news that this book is in the funding stage for the second time.  If you pre-ordered last time, your money has already been refunded and your pre-order cancelled.  You’ll need to pre-order again if you want to get a copy.

Also, while I can send you guys these messages from here, they’re kind of one sided.  I get notifications that you like what I said, and that’s about it.  We have a Facebook page as well, where we can open up more of a dialogue, and you can tell me what it is you’d like to see from the campaign as we go forward.  Follow this link:

          http://www.facebook.com/bluewaternovel

I’ll send out regular updates on Inkshares every week so I don’t fill up everyone’s mailbox, but I’ll be updating the Facebook page much more frequently.  So go there and like our page for the latest news.

As always, I thank you all for your interest in Blue Water, and I look forward to hearing what you think when you read it once we get to the finish line.

          Thanks,

          Joseph

Amanda Orneck liked an update for Pilot X

            First Edit is DONE!

Hey folks, I’ll try to walk the line between too many updates and never hearing about the progress of Pilot X, but I think this is a good milestone.

            The Developmental Edit is done!

What the heck is a developmental edit some of you ask? Now some of you are sneering because you know what it is. Stop that. Not everybody is as smart as you.

Basically this is the edit where Clete finds the things that I abd my beta readers didn’t realize were confusing or contradictory. I slap my head and go WOW how did I miss that? I take his suggestions add a twist of my own and YOU end up with a better story.

            Among the highlights

            - The people of the Fringe Cascade have much more readbale names but their horrible spellings have been preserved as a hilarious joke. At least Clete and I think it’s hilarious

            - The Encyclopedia chapter is now at the end of the book as an appendix so you all don’t throw the book out the window thinking the whole thing is a dry recitation of facts

            - A really confusing bit where Pilot X travels back int time to the same point three times is now understandable.

There’s more but it would be spoilery.

So there you go. Developmental Edit MANAGED.

Now it’s off to the copy editor where they will wail and gnash teeth at all my typos and utter lack of comprehension of the proper use of a comma. Clete tried to catch most of those things but he is only human and I am really awful at commas.

MARKETING PLAN! There’s a marketing plan. Spoiler: THIS IS PART OF IT RIGHT HERE!!! But also exciting things like newspapers and blogs and radio and podcasts. Heh. Podcasts.

Also a side note. Amazon decided the book comes out in February which it doesn’t. The expected release date is still March 14. Amazon just makes up stuff sometimes apparently.

And that’s it!  By all means please let me know if you have any more questions and I’ll keep you up to date as we pass more milestones.

As always THANK YOU for your belief in this book and making the publishing possible. You are the best.

            Tom

Amanda Orneck liked an update for Blue Water

Hey everybody, the campaign is now live to get Blue Water to its Inkshares goal!  Please follow the links below to pre-order your copy!

A few clarifications: This is our second shot at this campaign.  If you already pre-ordered a copy months ago during our first try, your money was refunded and your pre-order was cancelled, as we didn’t get to the goal.  So to help us out and to get a copy, you’ll need to pre-order again.

Also, as opposed to last time where I was writing the book during the campaign, this time, it’s finished.  I can’t wait for you guys to read it.

Please share this on your social media (and real life, off the internet, good ol’ human interaction), and spread the word about what we’re trying to do here.  If you share a link only, people might not follow, so if you could please just write a little something like:

Help this book get published!  Pre-order your copy!

Thank you all for your help, and your interest in Blue Water.  I have no doubt we’ll reach the finish line this time, and that you’ll finally get a chance to read this novel.
