Robert Batten liked an update for Shadow King

January 2019

Good morning everyone. Just a quick update on a couple of things:

eNewsletter: I have finally managed to get an email attached to my web domain (susankhamilton.com), and now that I have a much larger mailing list, I’m going to be using a list service to help manage it more effectively. So that means updates will start coming from susan@susankhamilton.com -- please be sure you add that address to your spam filter so you don’t miss any news!

I’m working on my January update now, and will be sending that later this morning!

Arisia 2019: I will be attending the Arisia Convention at the Park Plaza Hotel in Boston. I’ll be volunteering at and selling Shadow King from the Broad Universe table in the vendor room -- I’ll let you know exact days and times I’ll be there as soon as have them. If you’ll be at Arisia please stop by and say hello!

Best,

Susan

Robert Batten liked an update for The Man Who Stole the World

Hello my friends, and Happy New Year!

I know I’ve been missing for a bit, but I’ve been hard at work. And I didn’t want to update you with nothing to update. Sorry for the prolonged absence. It’s been a crazy year.

But 2019 is already starting out to be a big success. As I have several outlets to update to, I decided to condense everything into the following blog post:
    https://talltalestold.com/2019/01/01/the-tale-of-my-first-published-work/

Long story short, as far as The Man Who Stole The World goes, I’m still hard at work, and I thank you all for your love, support, and patience. 2018 was a rough year, a busy year, but ultimately a good year. The book is still on, it’s still going to be a while, but it’s going to be great. I promise.

Let me know if you have any trouble reading the blog entry or if you have any questions.

I’m still here, still working, and, as always, I love you all.

I wish everyone a healthy and happy 2019.

    -Michael

Robert Batten liked an update for Cat’s Paw

The 14th has come and gone, and the Inkshares Mystery & Thriller Contest is over. Unfortunately for us, both "Richly Drawn" and "Ripe for Execution" put on a last-minute spurt and forged ahead, leaving us in fourth place and off the winners’ podium.

      HOWEVER

While we don’t have a guaranteed publishing deal, we still have a chance. Inkshares is currently evaluating each of the entrants for inclusion as an "additional winner". A number of contest entries have been counting on this "additional winner" spot, I believe; but I also believe that fighting for a top three spot (even if we failed!) has put us in a much better position to get it.

We should know by January whether we’re going to get the go-ahead after all.

In the meantime, pre-orders remain open on "Cat’s Paw" until the end of January, and Christmas is almost upon us. I don’t know about you, but I refuse to let any of this get me down. May the new year bring all the best we could hope for!

Robert Batten liked an update for Grimalkin

        Hello, readers.

        Awesome news!

Grimalkin got a nod from the Inkshares syndicate, Break the Bechdel with Strong Female Characters, which means a lot to me because I value avoiding clichés and subverting expectations.  The 2018 Inkshares Horror contest also helped me overcome my latest bout with writer’s block. Now the only obstacle is time.

I had hoped to share Grimalkin up through a major cliffhanger that would hopefully elicit sales from people dying to find out if I really did what it looks like I did. Alas, it won’t be ready in time due to work, illness, and parental duties. It really is a killer cliffhanger, though. ;)

Thanks as always for your support!

PS. I did add Chapter 6.

Robert Batten liked an update for A Gentleman’s Murder

As of this writing, we have about FORTY-TWO HOURS LEFT on the Inkshares Mystery & Thriller contest. If you haven’t placed a pre-order yet for "Cat’s Paw", now would be the time to do it.

From the last will and testament of Sir Lawrence Linwood, dated 14 September 1914:

...However, in the event that I should die from unnatural causes, that is, by another’s hand; and, assuming the identity of my killer remains a mystery to the police; then, in lieu of the above, I bequeath the entirety of my residual estate, less the bequests listed in the first section, to whichever of my three children (Alan, Roger, or Caroline) first identifies my killer to the police....

From Sir Lawrence Linwood’s letter to his younger son, Roger Linwood, dated 28 March 1921:

...As such, I will be contacting my solicitors within the next week to alter my will in your favour. I’m afraid Alan will not be pleased, but as he has no time for England, I have no time for him; and Caroline, of course, never expected anything to begin with. Keep this information close to your chest. If anything should happen to me....

Robert Batten liked an update for Faoii Betrayer

We’re up to 100 Pre-Orders, Faoii! Well done!

Of course, we still have a long way to go (we need 750 if we want to see this book be real) but this is a good start. As promised, I have sent everyone who has already followed the story the second chapter of Faoii Betrayer. Find out how Alana’s little brother first stepped into the forbidden world of magic, and how Alana responded by clicking here.

I’ll send another update again soon-- assuming more soldiers pick up their blades. Faoii Betrayer only costs $10 for an e-book. I know that if it was your dream and your war that would seem like nothing at all. But, I assure you right now-- $10 can change absolutely everything for me.

Let’s make it happen. Keep those shields up.

Robert Batten liked an update for Mushroom and Anchovy

              Greetings, adventurers!

It’s the first Monday of the month, meaning that this is #MushAnch Monday. I know it has still been only two weeks since you heard from me last... perhaps a minor oversight on my part, but hey, at least I’m being consistent!

Because it has, in fact, only been two weeks, I don’t have any updates or info--at this rate, I’m quite sure it’ll be 2019 before I have any news for you. I’ve been proven wrong before, though!

To let you in on some life updates, I’ve been doing a little freelance editing and proofreading of late. If you’re in need of an editor or just someone to bounce ideas and concepts off, please get ahold of me! I really love editing and will give you honest, constructive feedback to help you progress. Give me a shout for my rates and I’ll happily chat with you.

I’m getting ready to launch my next large-scale project, with details on that to come very, very soon. I’m so excited about this project and it’s coming together much faster than I thought it would. So you can be aware of when this is going to happen, I recommend following my Facebook page or signing up for the newsletter on my website. I’ll give you a teeny hint: it has something to do with the Practical Escapist!

As this is likely to be the last update before 2019, I want to take a moment to thank you all for your support in 2018. It’s been a quiet year for Mushroom and Anchovy, but hopefully the sleepiness is building up to a great 2019. I can’t wait to share all the exciting new things 2019 will have in store, and I’m thinking it’s going to be a really creative year.

What are your wishes for 2019? What are your highlights from 2018? I’d love to hear them. Shoot me a comment on my Facebook page or Patreon, or send me a DM through Inkshares.

Talk to you on January 7th for the next #MushAnch Monday. Have a fantastic holiday, whatever you celebrate, and all the best to you in 2019!

My your adventures be fraught with wonder and just enough peril to keep them interesting,

              K. M. Cooper

PS: Here is a doodle I did this weekend. I’ve been slowly getting back into art after a lengthy hiatus. Enjoy!
