James Rasile liked an update for Mission 51

Overnight, the Mission 51 funding campaign came to an end, and the project is now in “draft” mode. We finished with a very respectable 183 pre-orders, though that was shy of the 250 required for Inkshares to publish. The book will not be published at this time.

I’ll have to say, I am much, much more excited about the whole thing than I am disappointed. When I started, this book was not written. Now it is! - I became aware of Inkshares earlier this year, half-way into the Nerdist Space Opera contest. I had an idea for a book for quite some time, so I decided to jump in late in the contest, learning the Inkshares process as I went along. I basically started from scratch, hammering away madly, and by now have developed a solid story of which I am proud. Along the way, I have met a multitude of awesome people: readers, supporters, fellow authors, artists, and the folks at Inkshares. I am nothing but gratified and encouraged!

The final tally for Mission 51 was 194 followers of the project, of which 128 wonderful people pre-ordered 183 copies of the book. I received 14 high-quality recommendations, was chosen as a “Staff Pick,” and received the support of the GREAT SCI-FI for the 21st CENTURY and BEYOND SYNDICATE. Wow! Thank you!!!

Now that Mission 51 is officially in “draft” mode, all of the readers, who have my everlasting gratitude for your interest and generous support, will get their money back. The project will remain listed on Inkshares, will continue to gather followers, and I will be able to communicate with you through this forum, to keep you updated on the continuing progress of Mission 51.

I will continue to revise, enhance and beautify the book, including the art. It is possible that I will engage in another funding campaign here on Inkshares, but I will not do it until the book is entirely finished, which it nearly is. I will await another suitable contest before that happens. When that moment comes, I will be completely prepared to deliver a top-notch product! I hope you will decide to support it again at that time.

For now, I have entered Mission 51 in the 2016 Launch Pad Manuscript Competition. I’m pretty excited about that! It opens several other opportunities for publication. Please check out the link. I’ll let you know how that turns out.

In any event, like I said before, I can assure you that this book will be published one way or another. I would love to have the backing and services of a formal publishing house like Inkshares, or some other publisher, but I have self-published several books before and I will self-publish Mission 51 if the need be.

So stay tuned for future developments. I will keep you posted. I am not going away!

Again, thank you all so very much for supporting me and Mission 51. I have truly felt the love!

Peace!

Ferd  :-)

James Rasile liked an update for Scarlet

      Hey, rebels!

This update was just something that came out of the blue while I was scoping out the other projects/authors in the contest, and I must say, there are a bunch of creative minds out there! Still, this is a contest. In order for Scarlet to get on the leaderboards and maintain that position, there would have to be orders coming in everyday almost--from my understanding. I believe if we reached the leaderboards, it could change the momentum and make people gravitate to Scarlet. That’s why I’ve been advertising, attending meetings, and even emailing old teachers of mine who enjoyed my talent. It’s a tiring process for sure, but how you dedicate yourself from the start until the end matters.

"Work harder than those above you, and you’ll achieve greatness."

My coach told me that, and I took it as a life lesson. It applies to everything! Hahaha, but I will calm down with the inspirational vibes I’m giving off and just say thank you to those who ordered today. I personally thanked them when I had the chance, and their responses is probably why I feel so inspired tonight haha. Once again, thanks to them, but also to those who’s been following and watching over my progress. No matter how long in the contest it takes, let’s reach Top 3! Goodnight, and remember...stay rebellious--let your dreams go wild!

      From yours truly, A.J.III.

James Rasile liked an update for The Slave Prince
      The Slave Prince Is Home

Home: a place where something flourishes, is most typically found, or from which it originates. - again from a reliable dictionary I found online.

The Slave Prince was written back in 2013. It was the second novel I wrote after a few novellas and novelettes. When The Slave Prince was done, I moved on to writing more novellas and novelettes, while editing it in between.

I don’t know what it is about The Slave Prince, but I can’t seem to grow tired with it. Usually after rounds of edit, I get bored with a piece of work. It’s like I’ve had enough of that particular world, and I don’t want to go back unless I have to. But with The Slave Prince, it’s different.

I find this homey-comfort in the book. Whenever I pick it up, it’s like I’m taking a road trip home - to a childhood memory where life was once carefree. Meeting the characters again feels like a reunion with old friends - friends that haven’t aged or changed under the pressures of reality. There’s this welcoming, tingling warmth, alike a hot cup of coffee on a rainy day. And despite the editing that needs to be done - the horrors of grammatical errors - I belong.

It’s true, I guess. The Slave Prince has been with me for 3 years that it becomes a place where I flourish. It has changed in shape and form, while I slowly grow and better myself in the art of writing. Though I wouldn’t dare say The Slave Prince is a masterpiece and the next Harry Potter, it grew up with me. As much as Hogwarts is home, so is Alpenwhist.

I’d like to share more of this book with you, as the contest runs for the next few months, if that’s OK with you. Not the chapters per se, but the world itself. I’ll also add more chapters if you want me to. The book is complete and will probably need one last edit, but I don’t mind putting up more chapters. Just let me know in the comments section.

Till the next update, thank you for all the pre-orders so far. I wouldn’t even place top 10 if it weren’t for your support. And I certainly cannot believe the standing of my book right now. Is this for real? So thank you, thank you, thank you! With 11 more weeks to go, I’m shaking my legs at the edge of my seat, while wiping the beading sweat off my forehead. But I’m also very excited to see what happens next.

James Rasile liked an update for Seven Days a Servant

        What a day, dear readers.

I’m still learning to use these Inkshares tools, so please bear with me if you get weird repeat messages or some other, similar madness.

I have big news... Seven Days a Servant is now the number 10 book in the Geek & Sundry Fantasy Contest! Here’s a pic of the page from a few hours ago!

In the near future, I’m going to be uploading a few more chapters that are currently undergoing some copy editing. Also, I’m seriously considering a shift from the term "regulator" to "marshal" for the agents of the House of Justice. I read everything out loud, and Iskra Skala’s title is a mouthful.

In the mean time, I’ve approached a number of bloggers to see if they are interested in covering the story. We’re still a long way from the 250 pre-orders needed to publish, and I really want to get those signed copies out to all of you that ordered them.

To that end, I require your aid if you are willing. I need you to be fans of the project. I’ll continue reaching out to people, but that’s not nearly so effective as all of you reaching out as well. Blog about the project, post online, or tell a drinking buddy. I’m going to make sure there is plenty to talk about here, but I need your help finding willing ears to listen.

        Thank you,

        Trick Dempsey

James Rasile liked an update for Overture

Welcome to the weekend!  Just in case you’re looking for some funny, romantic  fantasy, I’ve just posted up the second chapter of Overture for your viewing pleasure.  Here we meet Mills, the fabulous and filter-free best friend of our heroine, Elma.

Again, all comments are very welcome.  If you’re inclined to pre-order, please know that, once we hit 100 pre-orders, I’ll share through the full manuscript to all orderers.  That way, you can keep tabs on Mills and the rest of the gang. :)

          Happy reading!
