Howdy and good tidings to all!
I have some very big news! But I am waiting on a few final pieces to fall into place before sharing all the wonderful details. It shall have to suffice to say that my game of Hurry Up and Wait has started to pay off.
To everyone, I wish you good luck and much success in all your ventures. To my fellow bibliophiles, authors and readers alike, I wish you the kinds of dreams that come true, no matter how unlikely, and the kind of truths that are as dreams.

IMPORTANT UPDATE! PLEASE READ!
Hey Campers,
BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!
I first want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have followed Beyond the Code to this point. I know it has been a long road and you don’t know what it means to me that you all have stuck in there with me. With that being said i have a big announcement to make. WE HAVE A RELEASE DATE!!!
That’s right, after this lengthy journey we are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Inkshares has officially put this project into gear and the complete manuscript is in the capable hands of Chersti and Carlisa at WriterTherapy for it’s copy edit as we speak.
If all goes according to Inkshares schedule, the book should be out and about by January 30/18.
During this time i’ll also be getting some great cover art made by the talented people at CoverKitchen. They are the minds behind the colourful cover art to Inkshares very own "Sunshine is forever" by Kyle T Cowan. I’ll keep you updated on the progress and will hopefully have something cool to show you soon.
Thanks again for all of your support thus far. I, for one, can’t wait till the winter.
Kelsey Rae Barthel
Hey Everyone!
Hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend. If you finish Sunshine is Forever be sure to leave a rating on Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes and Noble.
Thanks so much!

Hey Everyone!
It’s been a long time without an update. I’ll do my best to make this brief as to not overwhelm.
That’s it!
Until next time!
Thanks so much for supporting Sunshine is Forever. I hope you enjoyed it. I wanted to ask you to preorder my follow up book—KARID. I really enjoyed my experience with Inkshares, but in order to publish with them again I need to get 750 preorders on KARID, too.

KARID is about two brothers, with powers, who have been in hiding for years. After the elderly are executed and the youth are enslaved, the brothers must come out of hiding to unite a rebellion against an evil dictator. If you like Hunger Games, Ember in the Ashes, Divergent, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, or 1984 you will enjoy the KARID series.

Pricing during the preorder phase is as follows:

If you followed along last year with my updates on the publication of These Are My Friends on Politics, you’ll recall that the real stars of those updates were the pictures of my 16-year-old dog Nina.
Last month, she passed away. I haven’t brought it up much because (a) I didn’t feel like it and (b) I didn’t have anything valuable to say about losing a beloved pet beyond the fact that I do not recommend the experience. For those who didn’t know Nina firsthand, I’d rather leave you with something uplifting that characterized her life than simply share some sad news amid the endless bad news that keeps hitting us these days.
So I did the reasonable thing and wrote and illustrated and published a book about her instead. It’s nothing extraordinary — look, *you* try making a book in a month in your spare time during one of your busiest work periods of the year — but it conveys much of what made Nina such a big deal in this little corner of the world. And it has some pretty pictures in it. And it’s more funny than sad. And perhaps it’s a nice distraction and reminder that the world isn’t all bad even if we’re threatening to end it with simultaneous nuclear and civil wars.
Anyway, it’s available now if you’re interested in taking a look. Thanks for reading, and enjoy. If you have any dog-loving friends whom you think would enjoy this, please pass it on.

Hi Readers!
Why OF COURSE I have not forgotten you, how could I? Just wanted to shoot everyone a little update - we’re still in the production queue, with a few books ahead of Phantom Forest that were greenlit prior to mine. The queue looks to be moving ahead though, so once they’ve assigned me a copy editor we’ll be in the home stretch. What I’ve discovered throughout this process is that hybrid publishing often takes just as long as traditional publishing does, from final manuscript submission to seeing the work in stores! So I wanted to say thanks to all for your patience.
In the meantime: I know a lot of folks who pre-ordered the book work in Film/TV, and a few of you have asked for full reads. If you want to go about this process all officially and make an inquiry, feel feel to visit the book’s properties page: https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-phantom-forest/properties/wow
Talk Soon!
