Matt Kaye liked an update for Disintegration

Hey, Inksharesians. I’m down to the last 12 days of my campaign. I’ve got 404 copies sold of the target 750.

JF Dubeau pulled it off -- with our help -- in the waning days of his campaign. We pushed him past the 750 pre-order mark. If you can find it in you to inspire the same kind of push for Disintegration, my gratitude would be boundless.

If you pre-order a copy before it goes to production, remember that you can get a signed copy and unique artwork. Right now, I’ll be drawing 404 different things related to my story. That’s a lot of drawing ... but I’d much rather have to draw 346 more!

We’ve had a lot of time to try to make it to the finish line, but now -- to quote Frank -- the end is near. I’d like to believe I did it my way, but the truth is that I can’t do it without you.

Help make Disintegration the best possible book it can be. Getting to 750 copies will get me rounds of developmental edits, editing for errors and content, and a professionally designed cover, among other things.

As it stands, you’ll be getting what I’ve written, undistilled. I’ll endeavor to make that product the best it can possibly be, but you have it within your power to make it even better.

So, one more time, talk to your mail carrier, the butcher, the baker ... talk to every geek and nerd you know who would go nuts for this story. 346 might seem like a lot, but there are easily that many more people out there who would love this book. I just need you to help me reach them.

Thank you for all of your help and support.

Matt Kaye liked an update for It’s All Fun and Games

    Hey folks!

Do you like blurbs?  I LOVE blurbs!

Here are the ones that will be showing up in some form on It’s All Fun and Games’ cover:

"What would I do if my favorite fantasy world came to life? It’s a question every nerd has asked him or herself, and Dave Barrett answers it in a tremendously fun, well-written story of swords, sorcery, and survival."  - Dan Casey, Senior Editor of Nerdist

"It’s All Fun and Games is as much a nostalgia trip for grownup gamers as it is a gateway drug for the next generation. The pop-culture references bridge the gap between geek parents and their kids. Dave Barrett writes with all the joy and love of a nerd who runs games for his kids—while cracking Dad Jokes. The result is a rollicking good portal fantasy starting with boffer swords instead of d20s." - Dave Gross, author of Lord of Runes

"It’s All fun and Games is one of those rare books that makes you wonder if around every corner magic and adventure await. Kids and adults alike will find themselves swept away into the world Mr. Barrett has created." — Shannon Mayer, USA Today Best-selling author of the Rylee Adamson series

"It’s fun and exciting to get lost in a fantasy world while roleplaying. It’s All Fun And Games shows that getting lost in one for real might not be as fun, but it’s no less exciting!" — Jon Verrall, co-creator of hit Geek & Sundry web series LARPs

In other news, the edit and design work is pretty well done, so next step is off to the printer - probably some time late next week - and then about a month and a half for manufacturing and shipping back to the warehouse.  We’re right on target for backers to get their books mid-July, with the e-books coming out a little it before.

Don’t forget you can follow the book and me on Facebook and Twitter!

Again, thanks for all your support.  It means the world to me!

    Cheers
    Dave

Matt Kaye liked an update for Women Like Us

Hey Trusty Women Like Us Followers--

Happy Friday, and I thought, since it’s been a while, I’d update on where we are on what looks like will be a July 26th publication date. The last couple of weeks have mostly been about my going through the final copy edit of the manuscript. To give you an idea of how much work is involved, take a look at this!

Pretty much every page is covered in notes! A special shout-out to the fine folks at Girl Friday Productions -- these are the people who are doing the nuts and bolts production of the book, and it’s a fascinating process. Meanwhile, any questions I may have are answered promptly and thoroughly. I think these guys are just as committed to putting out the best book possible as I am, and I am very grateful for the work they’ve done so far -- even if there’s still a ways to go.

What else is happening? Well, cover design is pretty much done, except for...wait for it...blurbs! Two fine, upstanding authors for whom I have the utmost respect have agreed to give blurbs for the book cover, and I can’t wait to share them with you, so stay tuned for that.

But wait, there’s more!! I have also been busy creating a new author website, the book itself is up for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads and, I believe, ibooks as well. Plus I have a Goodreads author page. All of these are still somewhat under construction, so I wouldn’t go check them out yet, but soon!!

Next week I will be turning the manuscript back in, so that will be it for making any edits and changes, which is kind of scary, but I guess at some point it’s time to just let go. Then it will be getting down to business on a lot of marketing issues. Whew. Ok, that’s a lot, huh? So hope everybody has a great Friday, and a great weekend too.
