Dear Followers and Supporters -
I have been radio silent for quite some time, but I do have news to announce regarding the status of Fae Child.
Since the book funded in March 2017, I finished the first draft in July of that year. After that my family and I had several life changes that stole my energy and attention, including becoming small business owners and having a fourth child. The THIRD draft of the book is now underway with a few small tweaks to accomplish before I send the manuscript in to Inkshares.
At that point I will find out when they anticipate the book being published - there would be a copy edit to do and a few other miscellaneous things.
I have a cover for the book well underway with a talented artist, Aliana Wong ( www.alianawong.com ) and I have updated the cover on the Inkshares site to reflect the in progress work. I am in love with it already.
I also have had a short story accepted into an anthology which should be published later this year. Here is the link to the announcement: https://writingbloc.com/announcement-of-the-stories-and-authors-for-the-upcoming-deception-anthology/
That is all for now! I will send out another update when I am sending it off to Inkshares.
Thank you all for your support and your patience,
Jane-Holly
Happy Canada Day, everyone. 2019 is half over, and there’ve been a number of developments since my last update.
First of all, I’m pleased to report that A Gentleman’s Murder won the silver for Mystery in the 2018 Foreword Indies. This makes a neat little hat trick for Inkshares, with Jacqui Castle’s The Seclusion and Juliet McDaniel’s Mr. and Mrs. American Pie also winning silver in their respective categories.
A German edition of A Gentleman’s Murder is also in the works and set to come out in December this year.
Some long-overdue paperwork was finally completed with respect to the option for the TV rights, so I think I can more comfortably say now that that’s in the works, too.
The most significant update I have to share, however, is that I have since relocated from Montreal to Calgary, a move that takes me to the other side of the continent. I’m writing this from what should be my study for the foreseeable future, once the movers deliver all my stuff.
It’s a new life. Perhaps there will be Bovril.
Until next time!
Greetings, Faoii! I know it’s been a long time. I just wanted to let those of you who aren’t already following my Facebook Page what’s going on in the Faoii universe.
First off-- If you live in or near Montana, I will be selling/signing copies of The Last Faoii and "The Faoii of Ashwood" at the Montana Renaissance Festival at ZooMontana on June 1 and 2. I’m sorry I ran out of books so quickly last year (in, like, less than an hour). I’m more prepared this time, I promise! Come and say hi!
Second-- The Last Faoii has been nominated for the Independent Audiobook Awards (Part of the HEAR Now Festival) 2019!!
This is such an honor. I almost didn’t believe it when I was first told, and my heart is filled with pride and gratitude. I looked over all of the books that were nominated along with Faoii for the Fantasy category, and they are all amazing. They each have hundreds of reviews on Amazon and an established following. Things that, a year ago, I wasn’t sure Faoii would ever have. But I have an amazing army behind me, and because of all of your support, I not only have a seriously kick-ass audiobook (voiced by the astonishingly-talented Sara Morsey) but I also get to fly to the HEAR Now Festival and stand alongside some truly talented people, knowing that our army earned our place there. Thank you. Thank you so so much.
If you’re not already following me on Facebook, please consider it. I’m moving afraid from the Inkshares platform for a lot of different reason (all of which I will be discussing in an upcoming interview. More on that soon), but I still want you to know about updates with The Last Faoii and Faoii Betrayer as they happen. We’ve gotten this far because of you. I want to finish this war with you still by my side.
Shields up

Dear Readers,
Happy April! You know how every month has a few different things to celebrate? (Fun fact: April is National Poetry Month, and coming up in May is National Pet Month. My dogs are looking forward to that.) Well, I recently found out that it’s Indie April, and this is one I look forward to making all the people around me celebrate--because Indie April is about supporting independent authors, like me!
Independent authors may not have the stamp of a major publishing house, but that doesn’t mean we’re not talented. And there’s a really good chance we’re writing something you’d want to read--are you looking for something that’s not mainstream popular? Talk to us. So even if you think celebratory months have gotten out of hand, Indie April is still a good one to think about.
So here’s three ideas to help you celebrate:
1. Check out all the awesome titles published by Inkshares. Off the top of my head, there’s A Gentleman’s Murder by Christopher Huang, which was one of my favorites last year; The Seclusion by Jacqui Castle, which is winning ALL the things. Some epic fantasy titles coming out this year that I can’t wait for: The Phantom Forest by Liz Kerin and The Living God by Kaytalin Platt. AND SO MUCH MORE.
2. Leave a review! Most of the independent authors I know of live on reviews and coffee/tea. Reviews help our books get noticed more on sites like Amazon and Goodreads. (So if you liked The Fairy Stepmother Inc. and haven’t left an Amazon review yet... And a really enormous thank you to the people who have!)
3. Recommend us to your book club. Well, recommend us to anybody, really--anything that helps get our work out into different circles of people. I ran out of new people to talk to about my book a long, long time ago. That said, if you’re in a book club that might want to read a quirky fairy tale, I have a good recommendation.
Thanks to everyone here who’s supported me! I wouldn’t enjoy writing nearly as much if there weren’t people out there who would enjoy reading my stories.
As always, if you’ve got a question, or are having trouble getting your copy of my book onto the appropriate device, send me an email! I’m happy to help.
Happy Indie April!
Maggie
Hey there, it’s been a while. Well, that was intentional. I grew tired of never having meaningful updates, promises for the future and how great things were going to be, blah, blah--bleh! So I wanted to wait until something worth reporting actually occurred.
Here’s one: I turned in my manuscript to Inkshares today! So, to clarify:
That’s it. Stay well and stay tuned. Have a great weekend!
Dream on,
Kevin
