Tony Valdez liked an update for She Is the End
Hi lovely people!

If you think about it, Friday is pretty much the weekend. And if you close your eyes and breathe deeply on a Monday morning, you can almost imagine that it's still the weekend. SO here's my Friday update!

Everyone go read this absolutely stellar interview, "What's Hybrid Publishing All About Anyway?" by John Robin on book coach Jenni Nash's blog. If you ever wondered how to explain Inkshares to friends, family, and strangers, read this!

Here's the video of me reading an excerpt from the end of Episode I last Sunday at the MNSpec 2015 Local Author Showcase! I have that problem where I'm mortified watching myself on video and hearing the sound of my own voice recorded, but OH WELL!

(I say "uh" about 17 times at the end. You'd think I've never done any public speaking before! UGH CARA WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.)

Upcoming Events:

  • I'll have an artist's table at the Holiday Geek Expo Dec 5th and 6th. I'll be selling a bunch of art and trying to hock my book, of course!
Look at this mock cover Alex made from my illustration!

  • Inkshares Review-a-Thon Day! (Date TBD)
I'm planning a day of getting people (authors and readers) to review books on Inkshares. We already have several prizes in the works for people willing to post reviews during the event. I want to do author Q&As throughout the day, maybe hold something live like a Google+ hangout, and I'd love for authors to come up with their own ways to participate. Make up your own contest, give away prizes, whatever you want!

IF YOU WANT TO HELP ME PLAN THIS THING message me on twitter @acwestonwrites. Thanks!

  • Inkshares Authors Showcase Coloring and Activity Book, 2nd Edition!
Yep, we're doing another one. Details to follow.

FINALLY:

If you liked the Wheel of Time series, go check out Storm of Fury by Andrew Wood:

The Fury has stood for a thousand years, and the bones of men are scattered beneath its terrible winds. Legions of horrors are forged within by a vengeful god and march outwards to wage war upon all sinners. This is humanity's fate.

ORDER IT!

Tony Valdez sent an update for Dax Harrison

Happy Friday everyone! Tony here with another DAX HARRISON update. This is an important one.

Inkshares has been paying close attention to the community of authors and readers, and in an effort to help more authors reach their goal, 2 weeks ago they introduced a much more attainable 250 pre-order goal to publish, BUT with the caveat of upping the book price to $20.

As it has proven a bit tougher to convince people to pre-order a $20 book rather than a $10 one, Inkshares has now added another option: ebook only!

Still want to help me get DAX HARRISON published, but don't have a whole $20 to spend? Simply order the ebook for $10! That still counts just as much toward the publishing goal of 250 pre-orders! And if you really, really want that gorgeous signed 1st edition paperback to hold in your hands, then by all means order the $20 version. You'll get the paperback AND the ebook! :)

IMPORTANT NOTICE: These price changes do not affect anyone who has already ordered their copy. Your orders are already locked in and you have nothing to worry about. What you CAN do however is keep spreading the word! As of today, I have 44 days left to reach that 250 mark. That's 128 copies that still need to be sold! It's doable, but not without your help.

If you haven't already shared with your book-loving friends, family members, neighbors, coworkers, teachers, students, favorite barista at your local coffee shop, please do so. I made a handy flyer which I've been putting up in cafes, coffee houses and comic shops in my neck of the woods. Want to put one up at your favorite local cafe? Local book store? Other cool place that sci-fi fans and book readers might take notice? CLICK HERE TO PRINT A FLYER!

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE: Don't forget! If you're trying to convince someone to order, here's a great selling point -- Use Inkshares credits and GET THE BOOK FOR FREE!

The good people at Inkshares want to see authors succeed and give readers a good deal. So much so, that they reward you with free money to spend on books! Sign into the website for the first time? Wait a few minutes and you'll see $5 credit added to your Inkshares account. Then earn another $5 for your first review! Just highlight a favorite passage while reading the sample chapters of Dax Harrison and add a comment! You can say whatever you like! "LOL", "This is great writing", "Keep your day job"... Either way, those two simple steps just earned you $10 total to spend toward the book! You could get the ebook for FREE or the paperback for half the price! Help a local author for FREE and get a book too!

And finally, if your dear old Granny really wants to help but doesn't know how to do all that silly newfangled computer nonsense, be a dear and order for her. :)

As always, I apologize for my exceedingly long-winded updates. I am trying to be an author here... Haha...

    -Tony :)

Tony Valdez liked an update for It's All Fun and Games

      Hi Everyone!

Long time no chat!  Things have been chugging away and this is a good time to let you know what has happened since my last message.

      1) The production team has been assembled.  If you visit the project page and scroll down beneath the supporters you will see who is responsible for what, as well as an overall timeline.  We are evidently 15% through the process, whatever that means.

      2) I had a conference call with my design pro, and they're putting together drafts for the cover.  A special shout out to Amanda Orneck, whose cover carried me through the funding process.  Check out her Inkshares author page for info about her own novels (one of which is already for sale on Amazon.com for the low low price of only $.99!).

      3) We have a release date (sorta)!  You'll now see on the project page that It's All Fun and Games "publishes July 2016."  I'm not going to lie - I had no idea how much time it takes to professionally produce a novel.  Again, I encourage you to take a look at the production timeline to see what's going on.  Believe it or not, it takes over two months to get the books printed after the finished files have been emailed.  Mind boggling.  In any case, "July" is currently as precise as we get.  There are rumblings that the release may be timed to coincide with Comic-con (yes, THAT Comic-con).

      4) Most excitingly (more exciting than a release date, to me at least) is that I have received comments on the first draft from my developmental editor, Kiele Raymond.  Kiele is a veteran of Simon and Schuster and a total pro.  Her line edits will make the reading smoother and her big picture suggestions have already begun to make the novel a more fulfilling read.

I'll be chugging away on my revision, which is due back to Inkshares in early December.  In the meanwhile, don't forget to check out It's All Fun and Games on Facebook and hook up with me on twitter @llabak.

      Thanks again for your support!

      Cheers
      Dave

        Look what I just finished...

Now I need to scan it in, order prints, and send them off to my longsuffering coloring contest winners!

I think prints will be a prize for another thing I'm planning, too.

        Happy Veteran's Day!

Tony Valdez liked an update for The Fable Hunt

The final push for funding is here! There are only 6 days left in my Inkshares campaign, and I have 198 more copies of The Fable Hunt to sell to succeed.

Here are a few things you awesome supporters can do to help:

          1. Send a tweet supporting The Fable Hunt and ask your followers to buy a copy. Here's a sample you can use if you want.

"Support The Fable Hunt and help save stories by buying 1 copy before 11/17! https://www.inkshares.com/projects/the-fable-hunt"

          2. Post the link on Facebook and ask your friends to buy one copy. It makes a great holiday gift for fans of fantasy novels. Here's a sample.

"Looking for a good book to read? Get a copy of The Fable Hunt while you still can. The Inkshares campaign to fund its publication ends 11/17, and you will help make it succeed! https://www.inkshares.com/projects/the-fable-hunt"

          3. Send an email to your friends and tell them how excited you are to read the book with a link so they know where to get their copy. You might even use this language:

          "Hey friend!

I'm supporting The Fable Hunt on Inkshares, and I think you would really like it. My friend Rachael has written a story about the fairies who capture stories and make sure they are written by man and remembered forever. When the stories start to die out, the fairies go to humans for help. This is their adventure.

You can even read the first 5 chapters on Inkshares. Here's the link. If you like it, buy a copy before 11/17 so it will get published. https://www.inkshares.com/projects/the-fable-hunt

          Thanks!"

Pro-tip: Copy the share link from The Fable Hunt profile when you're logged in so that you can get credit for sending people to buy a copy when you send a tweet, FB message or email. Just log in and look for the share buttons on www.inkshares.com/projects/the-fable-hunt to get the one with your unique share code on it. If anyone buys a book through it, you get credit you can spend on the site.

We're almost done with this! And then I'll be writing like a fiend and finishing The Fable Hunt to get it to you even more quickly.

          Thanks!

          Rachael
