Michael Ostrowski liked an update for LOUISIANA BLOOD - A Chandler Travis and Duke Lanoix mystery.

Hi there,

just a little treat for you all...and a request for some feedback. Below is the new front cover, and a prospective blurb for the back cover. Feel free to comment on both, and if anybody fancies being a beta reader feel free to let me know.

touchwoodpicturesltd@hotmail.com

With the Ripper conspiracy laid to rest, and the Louisiana Torso case closed; Sherriff Duke Lanoix and Detective Chandler Travis were enjoying some downtime with their respective partners.

But then Travis receives a call from Belgian Detective Jochum Hoog. A headless torso with eerie similarities to their recent investigation turns up in a canal within the medieval city of Bruges.

With a booming tourist industry to protect, and the threat of more victims, the Belgium authorities wanted the case closed.  And fast!

Within hours Duke, Roxie and Travis are headed for Belgium. But as the body count grows their search leads them beneath the streets of Bruges where the investigation becomes personal…with devastating results.

Quick note to update you all on having just finished the complete re-write of MINE (a.k.a. Murder Happens). It’s being reviewed by my writers group cohort prior to re-submission back to Inkshares. In the meantime, we have this other project in the Mystery Contest, and it’s languishing for obvious reasons. But guess what?

Mike and I would like to see the Ruining Boise project move up into 3rd place in the contest. You all know how this works, just go ahead, log on, follow, pre-order and let’s get this done, because this is the next project in my queue, and I’m getting excited about building it out. Buy now, avoid the awkward emails where I beg, and cry and plead for your support.

        Greetings, Adventurers!

It seems I completely forgot about #MuchAnch Monday this week in light of all the busy-ness going on. We’re currently selling our house in favour of moving into a bigger one in a smaller community nearby, and that’s kept us on our toes.

Also... WE GOT A NEW KITTEN. Meet Mystery, our third fur-child. Our human-child is absolutely enamoured with him, as are we!

As such, I don’t have any updates for you. I’ve been out of the house, cleaning the house, and doing just about everything but writing in and around the house. I haven’t even been cooking and, unfortunately, a whole lot of takeout has been the go-to, so I haven’t even put any new recipes on the blog--not even ones that are done!

The good news is that this should all be over soon and I should be in a new space before long. I hope so! I have plans for an "office nook", and if you’re interested, I’ll keep you updated on the progress of that.

In the meantime, please feel free to join me on Instagram @thepracticalescapist and on Twitter @ThePracticalEsc for updates. Please follow me on Insragram, because I’d love to hit 666 followers before Halloween... ;)

        That’s it for now, adventurers.

May your travels be fraught with wonder and just enough peril to keep them interesting,

        K. M. Cooper

          Hello everyone,

I have a new psychological thriller that I wrote back in 2016 called ’The Secrets We Keep’. It is the only finished manuscript I have so far and I have been starting to share chapters on the draft. The story is enrolled in the Mystery and Thriller Contest, and it would mean a lot if you could check out what I have and maybe leave a review or recommend it.

ONE WEEK TO GO until the official Launch Event for "The Animal in Man: Violent Mind" at the Book Cellar in Chicago!

I’m hoping we can pack the house and get a little mini-reunion going for my old Gage Park High School kids and their favorite English teacher. (...did I say ’kids’? You guys’re like 24 now. Holy chr...) Of course, all my friends, family, and fellow sci-fi/fantasy nerds are welcome as well!!  SEE YOU THERE!!

Here is the info: Thursday, Nov. 1, 7:00-9:00 PM at...

** I do want to inform the original backers (during the contest three years ago) that due to a delay in printing the demand for the books, you unfortunately won’t be receiving your signed copy in your mailbox before this event. I utterly regret this circumstance. I have been assured by my publisher that the copies for the Book Cellar event will be there on time. I am very sorry. I’m flying out to San Francisco to sign YOUR copy of the book as soon as they can print more. I will totally understand if you come out to the event and don’t buy one (another one) because you already have one on the way. **

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for THE GHOST TRACKS

              Everyone,

First, I want to thank each of you for the support you’ve shown me and THE GHOST TRACKS so far. I can’t overstate how much your support has meant.

We are now two weeks into the contest, and things are progressing, but there is still a long way to go. With that in mind, I have a request. I am asking each of you who have supported me so far to please email, text, or send a Facebook message to at least one person you know who might be interested in pre-ordering THE GHOST TRACKS. Any additional readers you would be able to bring in would be hugely important in reaching my goal.

I recently received a question about how the contest is measured, so I’ll clarify. Each author is ranked based on the number of readers they have, not books. So it is better to have three individuals buy one book each, than for one reader to buy three books. Hope that explains it a little better.

Thank you again for your continued support of this project, and I will keep you updated as the contest progresses. I am truly grateful for each of you.

Michael Ostrowski liked an update for Gumshoe Rules

We are now halfway through the Inkshares Mystery & Thriller Contest and we’ve got just over 300 orders for 400 books keeping “Gumshoe Rules” in first place. Thank you to everyone who has ordered a copy!

“Gumshoe Rules” is intended in part as an homage to classic noir writers including Raymond Chandler, Lawrence Block,  James M. Cain and John D. MacDonald. There are also several modern writers who have been a big influence: Ian Rankin, Anthony Horowitz and Philip Kerr. I consider Kerr’s “Berlin Noir” to be one of the greatest noir series every written. His Bernie Gunther series is probably the biggest inspiration I have for writing “Gumshoe Rules.” That said, there is a a dark supernatural twist in my book (think Stephen King) that goes beyond traditional noir.

There are two excellent books that I wanted to share. Christopher Huang who is also in the Mystery & Thriller Contest is publishing his second novel “Cat’s Paw.” I’ve ordered this book based on the strength of his first novel. For fans of English mystery writers like Agatha Christie, P.D. James, this will be a real treat. If you want to do your good deed for the day, buy his book. I guarantee you will enjoy it.

For those interested in true crime, I recommend a non-fiction book published by Inkshares “Death As A Living” by Doyle Burke and Lou Grieco is a memoir of a 30-year homicide detective who shares his secrets about his most horrifying cases.

I am grateful for everyone’s support of this book. But I have one more request. If I can ask all of you who have backed this project to send an email to 1 person that you know who might be interested. Perhaps it’s colleague who is a fan of murder mysteries or a family member who always wanted to write a novel. If we get a 25% success rate, that would have a big impact on this project and get me to the finish line so I can get back to writing.

Send them a link to:  https://www.inkshares.com/books/gumshoe-rules  With your help I know we can get this project fully funded and ready for publication. Everything comes to a close in 30 days (November 21) so if you can send an email today, it is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for all of your support!
                --Z.Z. Traver
PS. I got to meet horror author Joe Hill at a reading from his latest book “Strange Weather.” When I told him I was working on my first novel he wrote some very kinds words of encouragement.

It’s not about secrets. It’s not about triumphs and failures. It’s not even about racism. It’s about family. The lives of six black American siblings is chronicled in this biographical story spanning from the early 1900’s until Present Day.
