Kathy Schubel Sullivan liked an update for The Living God

Hello everyone!

Status Report: We are 19 pre-orders from making Quill with 67 days left for funding! 154 Unique Readers and still in 7th place!

Last week was a bit of a crazy week for me as far as the day job goes. I wasn’t able to make my usual reader updates on Monday and Friday, but too be honest there wasn’t much going on in the campaign.

We are still running the really cool editing promotion. For more information check it out here. We are also still running the cover design promotion.

I have a reading treat for you guys. It’s a little short I wrote called Atone, just a little peek at something that happened five and a half years prior to the events in The Living God, written so not to really have any spoilers.

Thanks guys and have a great week!!

I was hoping to have a little short story from an adventure that is not in the book written up, but I’ve been battling some serious fatigue this week. Hopefully sometime this weekend I can get to that!

On another note, The Living God still has 77 days left to campaign and part of me really wants to shoot for that 750 goal. The other part of me realizes how impossible that seems. If The Living God could reach 750 pre-orders it would go on to mass publishing and be sold in bookstores around the world. But, I’m a practical woman. It has taken a lot of effort to get this close to the 250 goal and I’ve pretty much tapped out my willing network. Even if the book did not reach 750, it would still go into light publication. When I started this I had no intention of attempting the 750. To be honest, I was doubtful that I could reach the 250. I’m an introvert and I’ve always harbored huge anxiety over money and asking people for it. I entered Inkshares for the contest. But, I knew the likelihood of winning so I also aimed for that 250 mark. Light publishing was always my main objective at heart. I welcome any feedback or advice for those who have shot for that 750 mark, even if you missed.

      Good morning everyone!

Not much to report this Monday, so you’ll get to the good stuff sooner than usual!

We gained a good amount of ground last week and jumped back up to 5th! Still, there is a good bit of distance between us and being in the Top 3. We are 54 Unique Readers away from getting up there with the heavy hitters. But, that’s okay! We are 98 away from our Quill goal!

We are still running the promotion for free cover art developed for your book for the next people to pre-order. As a publication designer, I can tell you that you will be hard pressed to find cover are for as little as $10! This doesn’t include illustrated covers because of the amount of time and effort it takes to draw a cover versus whip one together using photo manipulation. I wish I could do heavily detailed illustrations in that amount of time because I love them, but I can’t. The most I could accomplish for you in trade is a black and white sketch. So, if you don’t need a cover, but want a scene sketched out, I could work that out for you.

Another Inkshares Geek & Sundry article will be coming out that I’ll share with you guys in the Friday update.

Okay! On to the good stuff.

Here is a new short story up that I wrote some time back. The Assassin and the Cook. The premise: What you aren’t born good at, you can learn to be.

      Character for today:

      YARIN D’MOR

Yarin was the best friend to the King of Adrid, Dante Vanguard, before he was driven mad by visions from the Vel d’Ekaru, also known as The Living God. The Living God is a being foretold to bring about the destruction of the world in order to purify it. The visions urged him to seize power and lay the foundations for the Living God’s rise. The economy of Adrid was declining and the might of its military wavered. Yarin used this to convince a group of nobles and military officials to let him seize the throne. He killed Dante and most of the royal family, before taking Dante’s daughter, Rebecca, as his wife. This meant that the Core, the soul of the world, would accept the legitimacy of his rule. Yarin D’Mor was a Time Mage like his daughter, but his illness has stripped him of his magic.

Outstanding manuscript. Platt takes the traditional discovery-of-power fantasy trope and turns it on its head. Watching the characters figure out who they are when deprived of their power - relatable and refreshing.
