Hunter Red liked an update for Beyond The Code

    Greetings wonderful followers,

I just got some exciting news from Inkshares. According to them, Beyond the Code should be all printed up in about two weeks, then they’ll start sending out the purchased copies to my wonderful backers. Can’t wait. Be sure to keep an eye on your email if you have moved in the last while so they can get your new mailing address. Wouldn’t want some stranger enjoying your book.

Thank you all for following me this far.

Hunter Red liked an update for Lost in the Fog

      Aloha All,

I hope you are enjoying this holiday season, and are getting the chance to spend it with friends and family!  With one more day until 2018, this seemed a good opportunity to check in with a brief update on Lost in the Fog, my book you graciously pre-ordered/followed.

And I finally have some good news to share!

For the last month I have been working with an editor, the extremely talented and sagacious Caroline Tolley.   Her resume is beyond impressive (please click on the link and check out all the great books she has edited), and I am very lucky to have her in my corner.  A few weeks ago she returned her first round edit of Lost in the Fog, which was filled with terrific advice to make it a better book.

Caroline’s development notes were overwhelmingly positive on the story, characters, pacing, and plot.  She said overall the book was in great shape.  Her feedback for improvement was mostly in the narration: specifically, the 3rd person narrator (while often humorous) impeded the reader from bonding with Camden and Veronica.  This also caused a ripple effect where these two main characters did not share enough internal thoughts.  I also have some tone ambiguity I need to work on.

I agree with my editor’s evaluation, and these necessary changes will be relatively minor in scope.

I just need to find the time to do them.

This month nearly every night has been a holiday party for work and friends, and I’ve also had visitors and long days spent in the office for my job that pays the bills.  No complaints at all, as I’ve been having a lot of fun and finding satisfaction in my work.  But I’ve been eager to dig into my rewrite based on Caroline’s notes, and I finally was able to make some progress this past week.

I plan to keep this momentum going, and mid-January should be a realistic timeline for me to finish my rewrite and submit it back to her.

The next step in the process is for Caroline to do one more edit.  I’ll then take that, make the required adjustments, and Inkshares will do a final “line edit”.  This is exactly what the name implies- someone will go line-by-line to ensure everything is proper, perfect, and ready for publication.

I’ll keep everyone updated as I hit key milestones, and I hope to get Lost in the Fog to all of you by late summer/early fall of 2018.  But the date is unfortunately out of my control.  Whether you’re an established best-selling author or someone like me, unlike the instantaneous click/like/tweet of our culture, the publishing process is plodding and requires patience.  But I’m so glad to have you all with me on this.

As the clock ticks down on 2017, I will humbly once again say thank you and mahalo for your support! Simply put, Lost in the Fog would not be getting published without your help.  I wish you all a Happy New Year, and success and happiness in 2018!!

      -Michael

Hunter Red liked an update for Borehole Bazaar: A Vow Unbroken

        This will be brief.

Set launch date is February 26th

Bookmarks and hand painted postcards will be delivered with the books (if I can convince Inkshares to let me piggyback).  Otherwise, they will be sent at launch.

Y’all are awesome and I have treasured your support.  If ever you need an ear or a second set of eyes, please send me a line on Facebook (Kendra Namednil) or gmail (generosity20@gmail.com).  I can hardly wait for the coming New Year!

        -- Warm thoughts always,

Hunter Red liked an update for The Love Fool

          Good day readers!

All is moving wonderfully with THE LOVE FOOL publication. As many of you already know, the official release date is 13 March 2018.

You can now see THE LOVE FOOL listed on prominent retailer websites like Barnes & Noble, Amazon, but more importantly on IndieBound - where readers can find their local independent bookseller and hopefully pre-order. (More on this later.)

We are in the final stages of completing the book cover design. I’m working with a designer recommended by the wonderful staff at Inkshares.  And I cannot wait to share it with you all.

As far as the publication process, the manuscript should be in the galley proof stage by now, and would be coming to me for another review sometime soon. We’re on schedule for the March release and it is super exciting.

The official THE LOVE FOOL website will be coming early 2018.

I’ve also been working on other publications: I’ve been contributing to a lifestyle, food and travel magazine called Intermezzo Magazine; and you’ll see a classic aperitivo drink recipe I contributed to SIP the Magazine – a cocktail focused publication. Look for them in your local newsstand, bookstore or subscribe to each (see links).

I wish you all a festive holiday season, a Merry Christmas, and a happy & safe new year!

          -Lorenzo Petruzziello

Hunter Red liked an update for Skavenger’s Hunt

Now that we’re one month into release for "Skavenger’s Hunt," I wanted to send you all a quick update. Following the incredible amount of support both this summer and fall, along with the strong word of mouth from early readers, I’m happy to say the book’s debut has exceeded my most hopeful expectations.

Most gratifying, of course, has been the notes and reviews from you, the reader. When I set out to write this book, it was with the intent of telling a story I’d be proud to share with my grandchildren (like Harper and Jack below, apparently Hunter was off in the Cars 3 section). But seeing it receive such strong response not only from the middle reader and YA crowd, while also spreading its wings to adult readers, has been the very best holiday gift I could have imagined.

So again...thank you! If you’ve read the book and enjoyed it, please take a moment to write a one or two sentence review on both amazon.com and goodreads.com. As a best-selling author told me a few months ago, "the only thing harder than writing a book is getting someone to read it."

            Happy Holidays everyone!

Hunter Red liked an update for The Seclusion

I’m sitting at my desk this lovely morning, watching the snow fall out the window of my mountainside home and feeling very grateful for all of you. This update is coming a little later than usual, and for that, I apologize. I was waiting to hear back on a few points so that this update could be a bit more substantial than the last few. And, it will be!

I have multiple exciting updates to share with you!

                  1) Developmental Edit Progress

Since my update at the end of October, I have concluded another round of developmental edit rewrites. The book is now back in the hands of my editor. He is going through one more time (he estimates this will take about two weeks), and then he plans to send the book to a beta-reader to get some third-party, objective feedback. We will then use that feedback to do one more pass before forwarding the book to a copy-editor.

                  2) Title change

While I like The Walls are Closing In (and we may still use it as a tagline for the book), we have decided that a different title is more marketable, provides a bit of mystery, and is catchier for the future selling of property rights (fingers crossed).

So, without further ado, the new title is:

                  The Seclusion

                  3) Genre Change

We are making a few changes to the plot and market the book as YA(Young Adult). This will only marginally change the story but will double the audience. It allows us to not only market the book to fans of books such as 1984, Fahrenheit 541, and The Handmaid’s Tale, but also to fans of books such as The Hunger Games and Divergent.

                  3) Release Date!

The book has been assigned a tentative release date and an ISBN number (this second part is probably not exciting to anyone but me).

The Seclusion is currently set to publish on:

                  October 2, 2018!

This is a bit later than I had hoped, but I am beyond thrilled that there is an official trajectory. Between now and then I will be doing everything in my power to ensure that the launch is a success.

One last note - the first two chapters on the book’s page have been updated to reflect the changes that we have been making. Feel free to check them out!

                  Until next time,

                  -Jacqui
