Greetings Supporters of Crow’s Gambit,
I know you have been waiting for an update and I now have something to report. I just submitted the full draft to my development editor. I am excited, relieved, and nervous all at the same time. In about three weeks I should get back lots of advice and suggestions. At that point I will spend a few weeks probably completely rewriting it. Then we go in for line editing.
Thank you all for your continued support.

Dear friends and followers,
It’s Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, so for those of you who celebrate it, I wish you a happy Thanksgiving. For my part, I would like to give thanks for the progress "A Gentleman’s Murder" has made since its release back on 31 July.
I assume all of the above means, in the words of Sally Field, "You like me! Right now, you like me!" And I hope you like me well enough to consider backing "Cat’s Paw". Important as it is to give thanks for the past, it is as important to look to the future. With this second novel, I want to give you the same degree of enjoyment, if not more, that you and other readers seem to have derived from "A Gentleman’s Murder". Experience has shown that it can be done; all it needs now is your go-ahead.
Quite aside from this, of course, I must thank all of you who’ve expressed your confidence in me with regard to "A Gentleman’s Murder": those of you who backed it, who introduced the book to your friends, and who afterwards wrote reviews of it on Amazon and Goodreads. May you have as much and more to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season.
Hello all!
I’m just sending a quick update this time. I just finished a big ol’ heap of revisions to my manuscript and sent them off to my editor for critiques. He is working on a couple of other manuscripts at the moment, so he will be getting back to me in a few weeks. I am really excited about the changes we’ve dreamed up, and I think this book is really shaping up into something that will be worth the wait! As always, I will keep you informed as the process continues.
If you or others you know haven’t pre-ordered a copy of Curio Citizen yet, it is available here: https://www.inkshares.com/books/curio-citizen
I think it would be amazing if we could get the number of pre-orders sold up to at least 500 before publication! The more orders and copies printed at launch, the better chance Curio Citizen has to succeed once it’s out and about in the world.
Thanks again for everything!
--Katherine
And then, on a Tuesday like any other, this happened: "Your novel Release Date is November 13, 2018....!"
It’s finally happening thank you, so much, for your continued love and patience. I will be in touch with more details in coming weeks :)
October 2, 2018
Today’s the big day! Shadow King is now officially loose in the wilderness.
In celebration, I just finished a bowl of Fruit Loops at my office desk. I know, I know, Fruit Loops are a gateway cereal and I’m letting the fact that the book is published just go to my head and acting like a rock star.
In addition to excessive consumption of sugared cereal, I’m going to be busy promoting Shadow King in a bunch of different ways over the upcoming weeks and hopefully getting some media coverage and more reviews. My first book signing/author event is on Sunday (10/7) at Tatnuck Booksellers in Westboro, MA and I’m really excited for that. Event goes from 2 to 4 pm and I hope to see you there.
Please leave a review!
Reviews are SO important to an author and to a book’s success once launched. Once you’ve read Shadow King, please leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads. It doesn’t have to be long or involved, just a few sentences to let people know what you thought of the story. My goal is to reach at least 50 reviews on Amazon!
Join me at an event
I have three events scheduled right now:
What’s next?
Aside from promoting Shadow King, I’m starting to investigate having an audio book created via Audible. I’ll keep you all posted on that progress.
My next book with Inkshares -- The Devil Inside -- will hopefully go into production in Spring 2019, but I don’t have any definitive dates yet.
I will have a short story coming out in the ESCAPE anthology later this year (date also TBD). There are going to be some awesome stories from some great authors who I have a lot of respect for in this volume and I’m honored to be part of it.
And last, but certainly not least, my NaNoWriMo project this year will be to get the rough draft of a Shadow King follow up written (as opposed to the jumble of notes that it is at this moment).
One more thank you
I will never be able to say thank you to all of you nearly enough. Shadow King wouldn’t be launching today if you all hadn’t taken a leap of faith back in 2016. I appreciate each and every single one of you.
Take care,
Susan
The Inkshares Mystery/Thriller contest goes live tomorrow!
And so does "Cat’s Paw".
Watch this space, or follow the project. Remember, it’s the pre-orders that convinces Inkshares of the viability of a book project. In the case of a contest, it’s the number of individual people placing orders that counts, not the number of orders; so the more of you there are, the better.
Also maybe check out the other books going into the contest. Right now, I’d like to draw your attention to "Gumshoe Rules", by Z. Z. Traver. It’s classic hardboiled, but I suspect there’ll be a slight postmodern spin to it as well. It apparently revolves around something called the Z-Machine ... which a handful of you might recognise as an interactive fiction reference. I’ve already put money on it, and you should too.
