Craig A. Munro liked an update for God’s Evil

Hello, Readers.

Alas, we are getting down to the end of our time here, and it looks like we aren’t going to hit the mark. We’re only 227 copies short of the goal, but with 10 days left, that seems like an insurmountable feat.

I blame myself. I jumped into this eagerly but without any planning and forethought, which is usually when I end up falling on my face. That said, I am glad for all of you that supported me in this, and I don’t want to lose touch with you.

I believe in what Inkshares does, even if it didn’t work this time. I think it’s a great model for new voices to find an audience and prove that they are worth taking a chance on.

God’s Evil isn’t going away. From the very beginning, I have said that this story wants to be out there, and it will find its audience. I need to help it along better.

Please sign up for my mailing list, follow me on Twitter, and like me on Facebook so I can keep in touch with all of you about what’s coming down the line. This isn’t goodbye. It’s simply time to regroup and come back with a better strategy.

I think that it’s best to share enough to demonstrate your writing chops, give a taste of your book’s tone, and to hook the reader, but no more.
Depending on your story and writing style, this could be anywhere from 1-5 chapters. Very few people want to read more than that before they have the entire book in their hands.
If you do want to share more, you can use it as an incentive/thank you for backers by emailing it directly to them.

Craig A. Munro liked the forum thread, What is the best image proportion for Inkshares books?
The standard proportions appear to be 2:3 width to height. For use on the site, it looks as though that comes out as 400 pixels by 600 pixels.

But you’re probably going to want to have a much bigger, higher resolution "master copy" for when the thing does go to print. For that, I don’t know, but I would suggest being ready with something 6"x9" at 300dpi, or 1800x2700 pixels. Or, if you like, even higher: it’s better to scale down an image than to scale up.

Craig A. Munro liked an update for Cape’s Side Bay

Hello cottagers! I dunno if that works, but I gave it a shot.

        OK, it’s Friday!!!

98 pre-orders in 3 weeks! Not bad, not bad at all. I want to thank each and every one of you for helping to make this happen. Still a long way to go to Quill and an even longer way to full publication, but this is great!

Only two spots remain to win the last of the mugs. Winners will be e-mailed and announced tomorrow for the previous mugs that were won (and if we reach 100 the winner of the final mug will also be announced).

Last week I was lucky enough to be featured in a photography blog, you can check it out here! He made me look like an adult, and that made my wife happy!

With only 8 days left to pre-order be sure to check out Tabi Card’s Scribbles: A Collection of Words. Don’t miss out on it! Tabi is also to thank for the new cover design of Cape’s Side.

With 9 days left don’t miss out on Michael Sebby’s The Inhabitants: An Unremembered Life. It’s a cool science fiction story that blends the dreamworld with reality.

With 12 days left check out Louisiana Blood: A Chandler Travis and Duke Lanoix mystery by Mike Donald. You won’t be disappointed.

Also, if you’re new to Inkshares I recommend just clicking the browse icon. There are so many wonderful books on here, you can’t lose!

And as always if you are following Cape’s Side Bay and on the fence about whether or not to order I feel I should inform you that the fence is uncomfortable and we have plenty of comfy seats by the bay. :) Please pre-order and share and let’s get this book published. In the words of It’s All Fun and Games author Dave Barrett “‘cause why not?”

Take care and enjoy your day!

        James
