Michael Haase liked an update for The Shift: The Stoneford Chronicles
WE DID IT!!!

I am so incredibly proud and excited to announce that, thanks to all of you who helped me by pre-ordering and getting the word out, I WON (as in 1st place!!!) the Inkshares Publishing Prize for my novel-in-progress "The Shift."

It feels surreal. The Inkshares page says I am already the #2 Best Seller in Science Fiction and Fantasy. There’s only one thing you can deduce here: I have THE best friends and family in the world, hands down. From Milford friends, to UConn friends, to elementary school teachers, to coworkers from my days at HBO, Fresno, my Crisis Counselor days at Rosemary Children’s Services (one of my old favorite residents even purchased a copy--I cried, whatever), I just feel like so many people from so many different times and places in my life came out to show me a little bit of love. And of course my parents, sister, future brother-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, my oldest and best friends and their families, and of course my beautiful girlfriend who was the first to pre-order, and HER family... I mean it when I say I have never felt so supported and loved in all my life, and I am lucky enough to be able to say I have actually felt supported and loved throughout the entirety of my life. But THIS takes the cake. I can only hope you all get to experience something equally touching in your lives some day, and that I have the opportunity to be a part of that somehow. Whatever it is--I am IN. So what now? Now I write a book! And when that’s done it will be available in hundreds of book stores across the country, not to mention as an e-book on Amazon and all the other major e-book retailers. This has the potential to change my life, and like I’ve been saying all along in these (probably annoyingly frequent) posts--make my childhood dream come true. I remember telling people when I was in first grade I wanted to grow up and be a baseball player AND an author. I’m pretty sure I only threw "baseball player" in there to sound cooler, which worked out just as well as my baseball skills seemed to peter out around the time everyone else caught up to me puberty-wise. No, I’m much more suited for the professional author life. So, this is it. This is what I’ve wanted all along. So thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me make this a reality. I hope I can live up to the enormous opportunity you’ve all had a direct hand in presenting me.

I am going to write the hell out of this book. I love you all. And by the way, the book is and will remain available to order on the Inkshares page--tell your friends! (Had to one last time).
So much love, Paul

Michael Haase liked an update for Women Like Us

    Hi!

Been a while since I’ve been in touch. The good news is The Little Book That Could will soon cross into the thousands of books sold territory, and the production of the audiobook version is soon to be completed. So if you’ve been waiting to listen to the novel unfold, you’re going to get your chance.

One more thing I could still use a little help with, though -- Reviews!!

First, many thanks to all who have left reviews. Reviews are an author’s best friend. Really! But you may not be aware of this, but there are algorithms on Amazon that boost book sales. The first kicks in at 50 reviews. A better one revs up at 100. Women Like Us sits at 48, so we just need 2 more for that first. If you read the book and haven’t reviewed, please, please please!!!!  I just need two of you (although the more the merrier).

It’s super-simple: just click on the link below. Scroll down to where it says, "Leave a Customer Review"  Give it as many stars as you want, and say just a word or two -- "Love the book!" (or even "Hate the book works". It’s the number of reviews that’s key. Although let’s be honest, we like positive reviews better).

Here’s that Amazon link (side note: I am notoriously lame about getting links to work here so if it doesn’t open, just go to Amazon and search for Women Like Us).

    https://www.amazon.com/Women-Like-Us-Jason-Pomerance-ebook/dp/B01IOZUBEW/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1507828503&sr=1-1&keywords=women+like+us

    So that’s it for now.

As always, many thanks to all supporters.  Stay tuned also for news about a new book!

Michael Haase liked an update for Lucky

Good evening, my wonderful and faithful Readers,

As many of you have noticed, you’ve started receiving emails saying that your payments for Lucky are being refunded. Please, do not panic! This is all part of a plan, I promise.

Recently, it has become apparent to me that Lucky’s best chance for success is along a self-publishing path. She is already scheduled to go to a copy-editor in December and to be formatted and released early in 2018. I will of course keep you all informed as we progress.

Now is when I need your support and patience more than ever. I still believe wholeheartedly in Lucky and I want you to believe as well. Please stay in touch and let me know your thoughts as we go through the next few months. I am all over social media (can’t miss me!) as well as have a new email set up specifically for handling Lucky-related everything. So please, reach out! I want to hear from you!

        10/15/17

Hello! Well, we are certainly coming down to the wire in Launchpad and I think I’m going to have grey hair and high blood pressure by the time we’re done.

Right now, less than 20 pre-orders stand between "The Devil You Don’t" and that third place spot! So a HUGE thank you to those of you who have ordered and gotten me this far. WE ARE SO CLOSE!

I am doing my best to network and contact all of my prospects, and hopefully will see more orders come in to propel us up into that third place spot (or better!). Please, if you have not ordered yet, it would be a tremendous boost to have you become an official reader.

The competition will end on October 17 -- That’s in just a few days!

And don’t forget: If I’m in the Top 3 at the end of the competition, I will be doing a "thank you" raffle for everyone who pre-orders a copy, and the prize is a $100 Amazon gift card!

And speaking of raffles. I’m happy to announce that the winners of my first raffle were Tracey Bigelow (gift card) and Trinity McKay (signed copy of "Darkstar Rising"). And I just passed my 100 reader mark, so as promised, I’ve done the second drawing. The lucky winners are Karen Bradbury (gift card) and Jessica Hackett (signed copy of "Darkstar Rising")! Congratulations.

I’ll send another update before the competition ends -- thank you for your support and enthusiasm. You guys are the best readers ever!

        All the best,
        Susan

Michael Haase liked an update for The Shift: The Stoneford Chronicles

Hey, everyone. So strangely, and without any announcement from Inkshares, the contest which was supposed to officially end last night has been extended a week... Yeah, I’m confused, too. This is good news for basically everyone in the competition but the guy in first place, haha. And guess who’s in first place? Thanks to all of you wonderful people, that would be me.

It’s a good problem to have and I am so grateful. But I know my competitors probably feel new life has breathed into them, and are really going to put the push on in this final week. I don’t put it past any of these smart, creative people I am competing with to take 1st Place from me.

And so I urge you one last time to PLEASE share my pre-order page with friends, family and strangers, and ask THEM to share. There’s not much time left and your friend of a friend of a friend could be the pre-order that cements my win! Thank you all SO MUCH again. Here’s something to cut and paste again:

"Please help Paul win this manuscript competition and achieve his lifelong dream of being a published author! Only $10, and every order gets him closer to the win! YOUR order can be the one to make his dream a reality. And if you can’t order, please share this link: https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-shift-the-stoneford-chronicles-424394"

Thank you all again. Hopefully my next update will be good news and not another inexplicable extension! Have a great week, all!

          Love,
          Paul

Michael Haase liked an update for A God in the Shed

            Well hello there,

So? How was your summer? Mine was busy. Too busy to run a book funding campaign properly. I started funding Arch-Android  (the sequel to The Life Engineered) around the time of Nerdtacular in late June. It got a good start but soon after I got caught up in going to other conventions like Necronomicon and DragonCon along with promoting A God in the Shed after its June 15 release and writing the sequel to A God in the Shed!

Long story short, I dropped the ball.

            But I’m back!

Inkshares was good enough to grant an extension to the Arch-Android campaign. Let’s get 750 pre-orders as soon as possible and get this over with. The faster this funds, the faster you can read the final product and I am so eager for you to read this one.

Here’s what you can do to help:

            • If you haven’t, read The Life Engineered (it’s only 0.99$ on Inkshares right now)
            • Pre-order one (or more) copy(ies) of Arch-Android.
            • Encourage your friends and family to also pre-order by lending them your copy of The Life Engineered

What do you get for helping?

            • Every pre-order and reference gives you an additional chance to win a KOBO Aura ebook reader with original art by me on the back.
            • 3 or more pre-orders gets your name in the acknowledgements in the back of the book
            • All physical copies are signed and come with an exclusive bookmark
            • Participation in any further promotion I may add as the campaign progresses
            • My eternal gratitude

So there you have it. Expect more updates and more previews and information as this campaign progresses. Let me put this bluntly: If everyone who receives this pre-orders a copy, we’re done. The book is funded. How cool is that? The campaign ends on December 7th.

Above: The KOBO Aura ebook reader

            Thanks!

Michael Haase liked an update for Crow’s Gambit

              Greetings Supporters of Crow’s Gambit!

It has been a busy last month. Since you haven’t heard much from me you probably realize that unfortunately that work hasn’t involved Crow’s Gambit. What’s been keeping me busy? An accreditation visit at work, an industrial advisory board meeting, my other book (Fortunes of the Space Sloth) finished in the Top 25 of the Launchpad competition, completed my first 100K trail run, and we hit a deer with our car (luckily no one was hurt).

Other things have been keeping me busy but we are now back to the finishing push to get to the Quill publishing limit with Crow’s Gambit. I haven’t forgotten all of your great support for the book and we will now be moving forward again!

More to come...no really...I’m serious...there will be more...

Michael Haase liked an update for The Bones of the Past
                Hello everyone!

I know it’s been a while since I posted an update beyond listing another signing (such as my next one at Chapters Gloucester on October 21 from noon to 4!). Promotional efforts and writing have been taking up the lion’s share of my time and The Tide of Madness is coming together very well, if a little slower than I had hoped. Some characters aren’t making it easy – Jenus, for instance, has decided to go off on an unexpected tangent that actually lets me draw on a little more of the world’s history, and Ruin’s storyline is turning out to be more complex than I had expected and now interconnects with more of the other characters much earlier in the book. The result is something I’m really excited about and I’m hoping you’ll agree that it was worth the wait once you get your hands on it!

The goal is to have the manuscript finished within the next 4-5 months. I have a little bit of time off set aside and I’m planning on shutting myself in for a week at some point this winter to get a full 9 days of writing done. I’ve done this before and made incredible progress, so I’m hopeful that it’ll be enough to keep me on track!

In the meantime, the next week won’t see a lot of writing. I’ll be spending all of next weekend at CAN-CON: Conference on Canadian Content in Speculative Arts... – a conference for speculative fiction writers that takes place right here in Ottawa. Last year was my first time attending and I can’t recommend it highly enough. It’s comparatively small for a con since it focuses on writers, but it offers great learning opportunities for writers at every stage of their careers with panels of agents, editors, publishers and some really phenomenal authors that range from fantasy - Steven Erikson (Malazan Books of the Fallen, which are my all time favorite books), to Sci-Fi - Sylvain Neuvel (Themis Files, which I particularly recommend as audiobooks), not to mention some newer names like my fellow Inkshares author J-F. Dubeau who writes both Sci-Fi (The Life Engineered, too short but awesome – Hurry up with that sequel JF!) and horror (A god in the Shed, even better than TLE).

Finally, I know I’ve asked this before, but if you’ve read The Bones of the Past, please take a moment to write a review on Goodreads, Amazon, Kobo, Indigo, B&N or wherever you bought it! Every review makes a world of difference in raising awareness of a new book/author! Also, if you are a member of a library (and if you aren’t you should be!) please ask you library to carry my book!

Thank you all, yet again, for your support!
