Okay guys, I'm dropping you guys a little update about what to expect. 

I've been finishing up my round of developmental editing. I should be done very shortly, as I only have 59 pages left to go. After which, I'll be adding an epilogue. Ultimately, I'm ahead of schedule. I'm due to turn in the manuscript to Inkshares on December 1st. 

After I finish this pass through, I'm going to ask how I can best release the entire draft for those who wish to read it. After all, a perk of backing the book early, is you get to read or see how these drafts work! If you catch anything, or have any feedback as I do this, by all means, send me an email!

After I turn in the manuscript to Inkshares. I'll undergo two more rounds of editing. One more round of developmental editing, and then copy editing. Meaning I'll have rewritten this book roughly six times before it sees print. 

All told, to take a book from a blank sheet of paper, into a fully published printed book, it's looking like a year and a half turn around. I've been writing and editing on my own for the past year, and this marks the one year date when I sat down and began writing. So I'm getting very close!

I'll be dropping you guys monthly updates about the entire process, and trust me: You'll know when I start releasing additional chapters :). 

Hello again! Sorry I've been so quiet for so long. My sprint to get the draft done sort of turned into a marathon on me. There have been times in the last month where it felt kind of like trying to drag a boulder up a flight of stairs, but the finish line is finally in sight! Expect a post that's pretty much a howl of triumph and relief once I cross it.

Inkshares has done some interesting things to their funding model while I was otherwise occupied. It looks like the goalposts for minimum pre-orders have been moved, and now I find I'm at 20% of goal instead of like, 6%. SUDDENLY, HOPE! I jumped into this ride face first with no idea what I was doing and I admit it, and so far, that's been working out about how you'd expect. I am nothing if not stubborn, however, and there are still 29 days left in the funding window for Forty Days.

I want to see this project fund. I want to see it get the attention of a good editor and be able to deliver to all you lovely people the books that you've ordered. I'll be doing my best over the next month to make that happen, so you'll probably be hearing a lot more from me, and as always, I'd love to hear from you! Tell me what I'm doing right/wrong, let me know what stuck with you. Nothing fuels the fire quite like feedback!

As promised, the last half of Chapter 5 is now up.  It ends on what I consider to be the books first real cliffhanger, so I'm hoping to be able to post up Chapter 6 next week.  Have to reach 100 orders first though.
