Jane-Holly Meissner liked a review for Devil’s Call
Devil's Call deserves to be published. It builds its world in the dusty and unforgiving grit of a country in its primal infancy. Like the best Cormac McCarthy works, there's and unflinching, simple tone that never turns away from its harsh reality. Two reasons why this resonates with me so far more than even Blood Meridian: I like the feminine voice narrating this world, and I absolutely love the use of witchcraft replacing the traditional six-shooter. The reluctance of the narrator also gives it an intimate feel along the lines of High Noon. I also like the slow reveals and the steadily sauntering pace that is ever building tension. J. Danielle Dorn's world feels real and authentic, right down the spell-crafting, which is usually where most writers make it downright ridiculous or too vague to be plausible. J. Danielle is a talented writer, and I can't wait to read more!

    Dear Readers,

So after a few (okay, a lot of) orders disappearing because of issues with credits, we are now (again) officially 20% of the way to full funding.

    .

Between now and the end of the month I will be uploading chapters to celebrate milestones. Today, Chapter 4 went up to celebrate my 151st order, so when the 200th hits my inbox, I’ll upload Chapter 5, which (spoilers) is when the witch hits the road finally.

With that in mind, I want to shout out to the following people for their recent preorders:

Amanda Orneck (author of Deus Ex Machina)
Helena and Malena (authors of Sparked)
Jane-Holly Meissner (author of Fae Child)

And Ben fucking Luntz, who preordered 3 copies like the hero that he is.

You are all the best supporters an unheard-of author could ask for. I’ll be thinking of y’all while I crank out the 10,000 words I told myself I would write today.

    -J.

Jane-Holly Meissner liked the forum thread, Hey guys I'm new here and this is the first time I'm showing my first written book!
This is the very first time I put my work in a wider audience! The Title of my book is The First Songs: The Red Prince and is the first of a planned 2 Trilogies! I hope you do check out my work and I will be uploading various chapters every now and then since the book is already finished.

I’m just in the middle of the final edit but I do hope you guys give it a chance! Thank you so much and looking forward to you all!

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for Witherfist

        Witherfist is 25% funded!

Yes, you read that right. At 63 preorders, Witherfist is now a quarter of the way to being published. In her  ’G&S Contest: 11-25’ thread, Jane-Holly Meissner identified that Witherfist is currently placed 13th in the contest. That’s 13th out of over 350 submissions. Wow! We’re 26 readers behind the number 10 spot in the contest - and I’m hoping that we can close that gap by the end of the month.

I mentioned in a previous update that the Epic Fantasy Syndicate was considering selecting Witherfist as their book of the month. The recipient of that honour this month was my fellow contest entrant, The Living God, so a big congrats goes out to Kaytalin Platt!

        In other exciting news...

        • This weekend, I’ll be at GollanczFest in London, listening to panels on the sci-fi and fantasy community and the impact and importance of an author’s online presence. Don’t worry, I’ll be taking notes, which I’ll share in the Inkshares community forum.
        • I’m also happy to share that Jay Lockwood (author of A Beast Requires) was randomly selected to the win the art giveaway, which I ran for the first 50 readers to preorder. A pack dragon is currently preparing to paddle its way across the Atlantic with Jay’s prize.
        • Lastly but not least, I recently completed another author interview, this time with Jim Vines - so if you’d like to hear more of my thoughts on the writing process, have a peek.

Thanks for your support. We’re so close to the top 10 and making great progress with funding. I know we can make this happen!

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for Man’s Damnation - Lore of the Aos Sí

Had to share with you this progress. Working on the Scene List for the book, and everything is falling into place nicely. There are going to be over 90 scenes in Man’s Damnation and as I am a huge fan of tinkering with where things go best, I am happy to say that 2/3 of the story is now set in stone, like Stonehenge stone, not going anywhere.

I am still going to get you your lore update and character profile this evening, just got caught up in this mammoth project. Stay tuned and keep telling your friends and family!

          Cheers!
