Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for The Walls are Closing In

Autumn is here, and the cogs are steadily turning...

.

In my last update, I explained that the developmental editor and I were working on the rewrite 100 pages at a time. He edits one section while I rewrite the next... Well, I am pleased to report that I am roughly half-way through with the third and final segment. I hope to have that turned over in about two weeks. I’ve combed through and rewritten all of the existing text, and am now drafting a brand spanking new ending that will get the blood pumping a bit more than the original.

There will be at least one more round of developmental edits as I address the notes that Matt makes on the new draft. Each run-through should be swifter than the previous. After that, we move on to copy editing, then proofreading, then ARC printing and marketing. Cover design will take place alongside the final steps.

I am crossing my fingers that an estimated release date will be assigned once we have an idea of how long the rest of the developmental edit will take. My best guess is Summer ’18 (based on the trajectory of other books further along in the production process). If the last two months are any indication, I will be hard at work until the last minute (and after). As always, thank you for your support.

Until next time,

-Jacqui

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for Mission 51

    Hello, Mission 51 family!

It has been three quick months since you pushed Mission 51 into the top three of the Nerdist Sci-Fi Contest on Inkshares, guaranteeing its publication. I have taken this time to continue polishing the story before turning in the manuscript to the Inkshares editing gods. I have now come to realize that I might never be satisfied. I might always want to change this, delete that, embellish and refine, cut and paste, drag and drop, etc., etc., etc.

I had given myself this three-month limit for final polishing, and my time is up. Overall, I am happy with the story, so I am going to hand it in by the end of the week and get in line for the real editorial work. I fully anticipate making further changes as I work with Inkshares’ developmental editing team. I can’t tell you how exciting it is to be starting the process.

Along with the manuscript, I am to hand in my responses to an extensive questionnaire that will direct the Inkshares team on how to best approach my story, create a stunning book cover, and develop a successful marketing plan. It will be a long process, and I look forward to the hard work of putting it all together. I will keep you updated with progress reports from time to time.

Again, I want to thank you very much for this tremendous opportunity. It is only through your kind and generous support that Mission 51 will come into existence. I will never forget what you all have done for me!

Before I go, let me recommend four books that are currently in Inkshares contests, written by authors I greatly admire. They would certainly love your crowdfunding support. Please check them out!

In the prestigious Launch Pad Contest:

    Susan K. Hamilton’s The Devil You Don’t https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-devil-you-don-t

    TCC Edwards’ Far Flung.     https://www.inkshares.com/books/far-flung

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for Black Cloud

          Hello Everyone,

I know it’s been a long time since you heard anything from me which probably seems strange since I’m supposed to be working my butt off selling pre-orders. I have not been doing that. In fact, I’m writing today to tell you that I’m closing down the pre-order campaign for Black Cloud. You should all be receiving a full refund shortly. If you don’t, please contact Inkshares and they’ll work it out for you.

There are several reasons I’m choosing to end this campaign. Some are good reasons, some are probably not so good. In short life has been busy and I just don’t have it in me to run a successful campaign right now. There are other reasons but it boils down to that. The book needs work and the campaign needs work. I don’t have the time to commit to either. I thought I could make it work but I was wrong.

So let me just say this: thank you for following the book. Thank you for pre-ordering if you did. I really appreciate the support and I hope this book will end up in your hands one day soon be it through Inkshares or some other means.

In the meantime you can always check out my first book. Which I am in the process of submitting to Audible this week. So hopefully it will be an official audiobook soon.

          Thank you!   - Landon

            September 21, 2017

            Hello!

Wanted to give everyone a quick update on "The Devil You Don’t." First is the not-so-good news. They announced the Top 10 list this afternoon, and unfortunately, Devil is not on it. I have to confess, I’m disappointed but I can’t stay stuck on that.

The better news is that--although I won’t win Launchpad’s Grand Prize--I am still in the running here at Inkshares. When last I checked, I was running in 5th place with about 2.5 weeks left in the competition.

And that means that every single pre-order I can muster up is going to count if I’m going to make it into one of the Top 3 spots. So a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has put in an order so far.

For those of you who are still thinking, your order can make a difference so I would love to see you on the "official reader" list.

            Chapter 3 is available now!

As promised, we passed the 30 pre-order mark last night and I posted the next chapter. Please go to my Inkshares page and take a look (you’ll find it under the Read tab): https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-devil-you-don-t

Next milestone is 50 orders and at that point I’ll raffle off a signed copy of "Darkstar Rising" and an Amazon gift card!

Thanks again for your support and enthusiasm -- I’ll update again soon!

            Best,
            Susan

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for Devil’s Call

              Friends!

There’s an alternate universe where I do things I say I’m going to do in a timely fashion and don’t pop up a month after my novel’s been published to check and see how everyone’s doing, but you know. Life.

              .

In this universe, my father asked me how to leave a review, as there is no information as to how to do so on the Inkshares page. So shout out to Papa Dorn, for without him I would have continued putting off this update.

First off: if you preordered either an ebook or paperback copy, you most definitely should have received it by now. If you haven’t, please contact either myself or the good folks at hello@inkshares.com and we’ll figure out what the heck happened.

Second off: I know some of you aren’t wordsmiths, so even just choosing a number of stars and telling the Internet that you enjoyed the novel and would recommend it helps me out in mysterious ways. There’s an algorithm Amazon uses that helps make Devil’s Call more visible once reviews hit a certain number. My sources say the number is 50, but who knows.

Please note that you need to have an account and be signed in in order to leave a review.

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for Witherfist

Hello, readers. Long time no write!

By now, you should have received an email letting you know that you’re getting a refund for pre-ordering my book, Witherfist. Sadly, this isn’t a mistake. I’ve decided not to go ahead with publishing Witherfist at this time.

Since successfully hitting funding of Witherfist in January of this year, I’ve come to a realisation. The book needs a lot of work and a lot of time before it’s in a position to hand to a publisher, let alone to send out to wonderful readers like yourself. Not knowing how long that will be, I don’t feel comfortable asking you to wait, not when you’ve already parted with your money, and so I have made the decision to request that Inkshares refund all of you.

Whether you preordered the book because you genuinely liked the story of Witherfist, or because you wanted to support me, either as a friend or as a fellow author and Inkshares community member, I’m incredibly grateful. Having so many people rally behind this book - and me - really was amazing. You’ve all given me the confidence to share my writing with the world, and I can’t thank you enough for that.

Thanks again for all of your support.

Please let me know if you have any issues receiving your refund.

                 ~ Jenny

                  Hello, everyone!

Hope you all are doing well. It has been over a year now since I first came to this site hoping to finally make something off of a lifetime dream. It has been a rocky road and is taking longer than the goal I had set for myself but, what good thing comes easy? There have been times that I wonder if I’m not crazy for trying to do this and imagining this will work. Setbacks, especially recently, from getting laid off for a few months and scrambling for a new one to my anxiety catching me when I’m stuck on a particular part and has had me struggling to push forward. Yet, this world of mine continues to grow. I think about the characters and the world constantly and keep building on this story and (sometimes scrambling for a post-it note or my journal to quickly write something down) making it into something.

I’m inspired by many of you as I see your own stories and struggles and yet you continued to push and back and fight and now some of you are reaping that reward as your dream has come true and you getting published!

So as I sit down to write today I want to say thank you :)

Jane-Holly Meissner liked an update for The Knightmares

                    Hello Knightmares!

I am long overdue for an update. Forgive me, because I have news.

The Knightmares will be starting the production process soon! I have been contacted by the powers-that-be and things are moving forward. HOWEVER, in order to proceed, I need to cut the word count of my manuscript. The amount of words I need to cut will be quite an ordeal.

At first I viewed this as a setback, but as I began combing through the material once again, I see this as a positive. Stepping away from the project for the last year has given me new perspective, not just on my writing, but an overall way to cut information that was no longer useful. This should allow The Knightmares to become leaner, and move at a quicker pace.

I cannot promise when I will be able to finish these edits, but I am doing my best considering how long everyone has waited. I have time I can take from my job to work on it, and I will do everything in my power to get it out quickly.

During this process, I will reveal the new cover design, which has a few small edits needed. It is a powerful cover, and I’m sure everyone will like it as much as I do.

Until the next time, thank you for your patience and your enduring faith in the project. Big things are coming.

                    Thank you!
                    G.A. Finocchiaro
