Hey all,

I’ve meaning to make this update for a while now, and I am proud to say I had finally gotten around to it. I’ll keep this brief and give you guys the Cliffsnotes of what I wanted to tell you.

We crossed 100 preorders! Yay! Huge thanks Billy O’Keefe and Kelsey Rae Barthel in their help for crossing that line. Thanks to everyone for their support and trust in book. I really couldn’t have crossed this milestone if it weren’t for you supportive folks out there.

1 months left until the preorder campaign officially ends. Can we get this book into Quill? Let’s push for the LAST time and see how many more this can get before it ends!

Cheers,
Yicheng Liu

    Happy Saturday, Space-Friends!

First, thank you all for your continued support. I squeal with glee when I see your pre-orders in my inbox. You guys are the best space crew a writer could hope for.

First Piece of News: New Chapter Preview! It should have hit your inbox already. Still going chronologically. You’ll get a glimpse of the Contessa, the highest ranking person on Palunos. And you’ll get to see a bit more of Damaus’ fate as one of the Twelve.

We’ve Hit 50 Pre-Orders! This is an important milestone. We still need to double this number to be near the top three, but I’m confident we can get there as long as you guys keep spreading the word. I want to prepare something for you all when we hit 100, and I’m open to suggestions.

Thanks again for your support. This ship needs a passionate crew like you to make the journey successfully.

    Your chaotic captain,
    -AC

We’ve broke 100 pre-orders and you know what that means...50 POINT RAFFLE TIME!!!

That’s right! We’ve finally made it to 100 book orders. I’m super excited that you’ve all taken the time to help back my work. Now time for the raffle. And the winner is...  JASON POMERANCE!!!!!

Congratulations!!! Your super soft blanket will be in the mail soon.

If you want to see pictures posted of me being silly on camera doing the raffle follow the link below to Beyond the Code’s facebook page.

This campaign has been an real joyous and at the same time frightening experience so far but it’s not over yet. The road is a little less than half way done and we are just shy of half way there. If you like my hard work please don’t forget to pre-order. Not only will you get good karma for helping a dream come true and have a good book to read, also in another 50 orders you’ll have a chance to win a nice, soft fleece blanket.

Thank you all so much for your continuing support and feedback and I hope you have a great weekend.

Chapter 2 is now UP! YAY!

Dr. Anita Baxter awakes to find that human beings long abandoned Earth after it was razed by alien terrorists and Penny’s bedside manner is not exactly helping matters much. Imagine waking up on a spaceship to find that everything and everyone you ever knew no longer existed. Yeah, she doesn’t take it very well...

Oh, and they also almost get blown to smithereens by the bad guys...because that’s what bad guys do. I read that in a book somewhere.

          Hello friends!

This update is not about me.

I want to ask you to please support fellow author Byron Gillan. His Book The Children of the Forest is 3 days away from ending its campaign and just 12 copies away from hitting funding.

I know we can help him pass the 250 copies he needs to start the publishing process. I bought two copies, because I wouldn’t ask you to do something I haven’t done myself.

So please, click here and support this awesome book.

          Have a fantastic weekend!

            Hey hey everyone!

So I made a nice new pitch video for the project page where you get to see me speaking enthusiastically (and somewhat awkwardly) about this little book that I love so much. There’s even a post-credits zinger at the end (No, Sam Jackson doesn’t walk on camera and ask me to join a superhero team...yet). Please check that out and if you haven’t already, pre-order, won’t you? I will love you forever and not in an icky and inappropriate way.

I’m also very close to finishing some freebies to send out to all those who pre-order. Unfortunately, they are not retro-future ray guns, as the government has a problem with people mailing out portable atomic weapons...who knew? But, more on what the freebies are once I get ’em finished. Soon soon soon.

Thanks again for the support! Pre-order! Share! Rinse! Repeat!

Love (in a completely platonic way),

            Jason

In today’s chapter we see what Lithia ultimately decided to do about helping Cade get too the Frontier. She also has a rather unceremonious run in with Vijay whose now sought refuge in Grace Cathedral. Do you think Lithia is going to stick her neck out for a man she hardly knows?

Before anyone else I want to thank everyone whose very fortuitously come to support us in the last few days! In the last week we’ve sold 30 copies! With just 11 days left on our campaign we’re at about 46% at minimum goal. :D

As a thank you to everyone here are a couple new pieces of art!

Time for a previously unscheduled update, and has nothing to do with my book. This time I’m doing what I can to make sure that someone else’s book hits goal. Many of you are undoubtedly already aware of Byron Gillan’s “The Children of the Forest”, and if you’re not then you should be. This book has been on my own personal “Top 5 books I want to see published through Inkshares” list since the moment I laid eyes on it. Well, its down to the last couple of days to meet its funding and is only 18 orders away from hitting the Quill goal as of me typing this.

If you haven’t already checked this one out, and if you have found my opinion to be worth your time in the past, then you should go to “The Children of the Forest” project page. It is filled with both beautiful artwork and excellent sample chapters which are well worth your time. Look them over, and if you find yourself agreeing with my assessment of the book’s quality, then order it immediately!

In addition to the quality of the story, Byron also has some of the best additional rewards for ordering, or at least ones that most appeal to a geek like me: custom pins(e-book & up); a soft-cover collectible book containing artwork, world notes, essays, and the entire 1st act of “The Children of the Forest” to tide us over while waiting on the full book(paperback orders & up); and a 15 page art booklet(orders of 3 or more paperbacks). Seriously, I have an unhealthy love for art books and pins.

So, to reiterate: check this book out and if you love the content posted even half as much as I do, then don’t delay in ordering it! There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to get this book at least 18 orders by this time tomorrow, or for that matter by 12 hours from now. Okay, I’ll stop beating my salesman drum now(but you still have to check it out), and try to get a bit of work done before bed. Thanks all for your time and patience.
